  • I heard them at Michael's in the seventies.....

  • The version I heard- Brecker was asked "how does it feel to be the greatest sax player in the world- and he replied "I don't know you better ask Bergonzi".

  • @moffat691 It has been substantiated by others that he made the statement about both. Hey, Brecker knew what he was talking about :)

  • I used to go see them at the Willow on Wednesdays. Fantastic!

    Around '83 or so.

  • @improvsax me, too; awesome stuff. bought the vinyl back then; now, long gone that record.

  • Fabulous improvisational trio.

Fluid, dynamic, imaginative and interminably musical.

  • George was my teacher for one year at NEC. I learned a lot, even when he talked about marriage, divorce, and sex.

  • What can you say.. unspeakably amazing.

  • John Lockwood. One of the most underrated bass players alive. Folks rave about Holland. Listen to Lockwoods intonation and tone.....impeccable. If you don't know better you think he's playing a tempered intrument.

  • gulloti's a bad ass muthuhfuckuh!!! lockwood too..

  • I've seen these guys a few times; always in Boston.

    Mike Stern sat in with them one night back in '80 ('81?) . . . WHAT A RIDE . . .

  • ""I'm not a master of the saxophone. George Garzone is master of the saxophone." - Michael Brecker."- Mike Mainieri.

    How's that? hahaha

  • Perfect

  • Didn't he say that about Bergonzi.. not Garzone... but I LOVE Garzone.. just thought the comment was about Gonz?

  • Mike Mainieri is quoted saying it is what Brecker said to him ... Like you said, doesn't really matter ...

  • youtube rocks

  • Studied with Zone from 86-89...and again from 1996-1998...he's the best!

  • He played with ratdog recently an tore the house down, his usual awesome playing

  • LOL, no way pfeels, I called George and, by chance, talked to him while he was back stage, right before he sat in with Kenny Brooks and Rat Dog... that's a trip!

  • Damn, I just noticed I spelled tour wrong, lol ... I was with him when you called and he was telling me how freaky it was that you called at that particular time, like some Zen thing, lol
