I come from a poor family but I was able to attend university, through the help of the gov't programs, and now I have a good job and earn a decent living.
Your first mistake is to consider taxation punishment. It's not. The government requires revenue to provide services to its citizens, it does this by raising money through taxation. It should only tax those who can afford to be taxed: ie. those above a certain income level. Moreover, as you make more you should be taxed more, as the system has benefited you so much that you are able to acquire a large amount of wealth.

A household with 4 children that is under either 30 or 40k annual salary(both parents combined) is technically in poverty. That's a many number of households.

If people were treated for addictions like they were ill it wouldn't be so prevalent. Portugal and I believe the Netherlands, although it may have been Denmark, made All illegal drugs and Heroin legal respectively and treated anyone with harsh addictions like patients and have seen drug usage rates actually decline. A good example being how people call Marijuana a gateway drug, because people tend to use it-
-before they get to harder drugs. The same thing could be said about drinking soda, alcohol, or even energy drinks riddled with caffeine. You also have to consider that anyone could have an agenda when they provide information about these situations. Also how can you be against legalization? Wouldn't you be willing to provide someone the freedom to drugs as long as they don't hurt anyone else, since that'd be their business and none of yours?

And agenda's aside, now days drug education is FAIRLY true, a hit and miss on some parts but they get the general idea pretty well. So no one really has the excuse of not understanding, unless they started shooting heroin at 12. There really is no "Safe" way to use drugs, and aside for the inevitable shitty physical effects it has on you, it also does change your whole state of mind.

@Mduenisch No, federal food assistance and Welfare is not JUST based on income. Its house hold income, personal Income, legal back round, and history of substance abuse. I know this because I have been on them. In fact in like 6 states now you have to do mandatory community service and take job acquisition classes every month to keep your assistance. and there trying to pass it on a federal level. Regardless, do you personally think its okay to collect WF/FS and spend you money on substances?

We had to meet the people who ran the housing for me to sign some document stating I was still in high school, so my income from my part-time job couldn't be counted towards income, or towards my mom's social security income. Legalizing drugs would be the surest way to get rid of cartels marketing them and killing civilians in the process, and if they were dispensed by government run businesses it would prevent competitive marketing and commercialization, and quite likely prevent things like the tobacco industry's meddling with noctine levels.

A household with 4 children that is under either 30 or 40k annual salary(both parents combined) is technically in poverty. That's a many number of households.

If people were treated for addictions like they were ill it wouldn't be so prevalent. Portugal and I believe the Netherlands, although it may have been Denmark, made All illegal drugs and Heroin legal respectively and treated anyone with harsh addictions like patients and have seen drug usage rates actually decline. And agenda's aside, now days drug education is FAIRLY true, a hit and miss on some parts but they get the general idea pretty well. So no one really has the excuse of not understanding, unless they started shooting heroin at 12. There really is no "Safe" way to use drugs, and aside for the inevitable shitty physical effects it has on you, it also does change your whole state of mind.

@Mduenisch No, federal food assistance and Welfare is not JUST based on income. Its house hold income, personal Income, legal back round, and history of substance abuse. I know this because I have been on them. In fact in like 6 states now you have to do mandatory community service and take job acquisition classes every month to keep your assistance. and there trying to pass it on a federal level. Regardless, do you personally think its okay to collect WF/FS and spend you money on substances?

We had to meet the people who ran the housing for me to sign some document stating I was still in high school, so my income from my part-time job couldn't be counted towards income, or towards my mom's social security income. Legalizing drugs would be the surest way to get rid of cartels marketing them and killing civilians in the process, and if they were dispensed by government run businesses it would prevent competitive marketing and commercialization, and quite likely prevent things like the tobacco industry's meddling with noctine levels.
