The funny thing about Western call for freedom of press is you have tons of Western channels broadcasting Western's worldviews to the masses, yet you have no non-Western media broadcasting a different perspective. This only suggest to people, the only relevant and important perspectives is the Western's perspective. This has to do with economics, the Western country are economically dominant so they can afford to do that.

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that there is an emerging pattern amongst pro-chinese supporters here who rebut critical comment poorly. There is a notable lack of coherent argument, an inability to hold a factual led debate. Its all CAPS, shouting, name-calling, personal attacks and condescending rhetoric... would this be the legacy of having been over-protected through an educational system which refrains from encouraging questions and debate? Not much of what we've heard is new.

every nation has their ingrates and traitors. i hope Miss Yoon break free from this as quick as possible. Yes, cctv censored the live feed, but on later telecast, they did showed the failed attempt of protesters trying to grab and extinguish the Torch. Plus, scenes of Police restoring order on the streets and sidewalks from the unruly protesters.

The Chinese government may condemn protesters for bringing politics into the Olympics, but they have made the games just as political as any protesters. Due to Chinese political pressure, Taiwanese athletes are only allowed to participate in the games under the name "Chinese Taipei" because the Chinese government claims that Taiwan is not independent but part of China. So the CCP hypocrites have no room to talk about bringing politics into the Olympics.

I have been to China. And I visited Tibet. I can tell you that the Chinese influence in China has been a positive one. I am sick of seeing people who have NEVER been to Tibet talk less of visiting China calling on something which is at best fuzzy. China may have to address certain issues especially with it's penal code. I have no doubt the dalai lama and our governments are covertly inciting trouble in China. Funny how there were more whites than Tibetan-Chinese in those protest. It's ignorance

You are deluded if you think the olympic games and politics are not intertwined - ministers, presidents, kings & queens attend the ceremonies, the history of the olympics by the greeks was to use sport as a political tool to engage and unite. Throughout history Olympics have always had a political edge- Moscow (cold war), Berlin (Communism), South Africa (apartheid) China is no different. It is naive to think one survives without the other. Without protest the olympic games are meaningless

First of all, cussing while trying to make a point does nothing but detract from your own credibility and respectability. Second of all, all languages have cuss words, not just English. Third of all, whether or not you want to accept it, the Chinese gov't has a gross human rights record as well as an agressive, imperialist foreign policy (for instance, Taiwanese athletes are not even allowed to compete under the name Taiwan or with the Taiwanese flag in the Olympics due to Chinese pressure).
