  • One thing about this game is it's accurate...playing as a major faction like Germany, America, or any other countries in the war, you're gonna start out with bombers and infantry and tons of stuff to build. But let's say you play as like south Arabia, you'll get militia, armored cars, garrison troops, and maybe a few other things. On the air force, you get a naval bomber, and on naval, transports, and that's it. They didn't really balance the game, but that's good, bc they made it more realisti

  • What about people who agree with Glenn Beck? Do they belong in concentration camps too?

  • NOO,you conquerd my homeland,lithuania

  • Is the game leveled out? What I mean is, would Poland start out getting invaded by three countries and being outnumbered 2:1?

  • I love this music

  • Fuck everytime I get the soviets I build a fucking invincible army to counter germans and germans do not attack in 1941! This is so fucking frustrating. They even invade england instead of USSR so fucking stupid. They should have fixed that in 2.04.

  • @TheBlindPowerslave Attack USSR as weak? Aww shit they will get owned and the war will end about 2 years earlier...

  • @SovietLenin1 The germans? Yeah they always loose against the soviets somehow. But historically they should attack URSS in 41 while in my games they don't.

  • @TheBlindPowerslave I beat russia and took over all of Africa and Europe.

  • @australianforlife Could it be because you are playing against AI and not a real thinking mind? Germany is the easiest nation to play in the game and winning the game with it is not something to be proud of really.

  • @TheBlindPowerslave yeah,from a Communist point of view.

  • @TheBlindPowerslave lol i think they finally go the idea that attacking Russia would be stupid.

  • @repulic5 True. Ahistoric nevertheless. Still it's funny to see German panzers in Washington DC :)

  • russia is too fucking big

  • its easy to beat the soviets just rush moscow and their bigger cities near its european borders

  • @nemurad It may be easy to beat the Soviets in singleplayer. Not that easy in multiplayer though.

  • wow doesnt look hard to dominate as russia

  • @criticalemperor

Looks are deceiving, Russia starts out with horrifically low Unity, at 55%, rendering the country instantly lost if they lose Moscow, and making the better laws unattainable. The only way to remedy this is to perform the great purge, which both kills off many of your officer corps, and puts a 10% leadership penalty, rendering the already technologically defunct low leadership SU even further behind, forcing them to utilize low-tech units in greater numbers.

  • Wow this had so much in it that was completely inappropriate for children, I think my kids will never get over this it was R rated borderline X rated...(extreme sarcasm)

  • Great game!

Posible to win both as Germany and SSSR on "barbarossa" and "day of infamy", on "tide has turned" and "gotterdammerung" as germany you can stop the soviets on line between konigsberg and odessa to the end of game using rivers and fortifications build. No cheats, that spoils the game.

And, as germany you must use Blitz- encircle and destroy soviet troops is more important than just won ground-they have 3-4x more manpover!!!

  • POLAND first to fight!

  • the soviet union must be nearly impossible to beat, it must take so long to invade

  • You need a Nasa computer to actually run this at 30FPS all the time....

  • I loved Hearts of Iron 2, now all I need to do is cough up enough money to buy this one.

  • what I hate about this game is that you have to micromanage the SMALLEST freaking battle! I love Europa, but in this I just get frickin' spammed with "LOST THIS BATTLE" "WON THIS BATTLE" and i can't operate -.-

  • how do you play this?? I can't make units and actually get it to work! too confusing for people new at hearts of iron..

  • @xxaznjazonxx

Try watching the 'Let's Play Hearts of Iron 3' series by 'VadimCC'! It helped me a lot!

  • @BeanTheForce Ive seen it 2 :D ALL LISENT TO THIS MAN!

  • How is HOI 3 to the first one?

  • HOI3 has alot of music that I love.

But this is my favourite thus far. The plight and then the might of the Russian people during WWII all rolled in this music track.

  • i wish they had kept these colors in the current version

  • i wish i could convince good countrys such as japan to join the communists

  • What are those territories between the SU and the Baltic states? Buffer zones? DMZ's?

  • @Bluehawk2008 those are revealed teritories....

    he he ;)

  • HOI3 has stuff better than HOI2 but HOI2 is less complicated, its soo slow in HOI3 and cant fast up like HOI2, also the tech cheats are terrible, they should have kept the cheats like what they did in HOI2

  • tell me how i actually go to war in this game?? Diplomacy screen won't let me.

  • Option one: decrease neutrality, dunno how

Option two: i do it, Cheat: alt+2+1 and noneutrality

  • @lester2222 You can also increase your threat level in various ways, and some countries have scripted events that allow them to go to war (eg Germany with the "Danzig or War" event related to Poland).

  • why dose my game crash when i load a save

  • Is there a way to see battles? XD or its just a map with soldiers on it? and other stuff

  • Just on map.You can't see battles like in the totalwar series.

  • I'm wondering, can you change diplomacy in this game? For example if you play as Japan can you side with america?

  • if you play your cards right..but most likely they wont. but there is a possibility you can get them to ally with you

  • Okay and what is battle like in this game, the same as in HoI 2?

  • Yes you can atleast in HoI2 you can.

  • is the repbulic of turkey in this? pls reply

  • turkey is in the game but i'm not sure what the political system is....it will be historically accurate for the time so if it was a republic in 1939 then in the game it will be too.

  • @WootCanada There was only 1 party allowed in Turkey between 1923 and 1946. Kinda nationalist-dictatorship. Government was stronger than the current one though..

  • sure it is

  • YIS.

  • This music is just so awesome.

  • fantastic music

  • New music?

  • Impressive

  • To secure peace...

  • relationship between peace and war just like relationship between husband and wife, cant live without each other!

  • They used calvary vs armor divisions.. it would be interesting to do but without a mod or on the easiest difficulty Poland should not be able to defeat a German player.

  • Comment removed

  • heh... Polish border empy :( I hope they will make MORE actions to make Poland playable and able to defeat germans when good ruled... :)

  • W HOI 2 dało się wygrać Polską bez pomocy aliantów. Wystarczyło ulepszyć piechotę do modelu 39 i zaatakować wsch. Prusy.

  • Comment removed

  • You know, it's pretty fucking hopeless for Poles... Their army in '39 was a ghost of a past era, as the tracks of a new order flattened their hope.

Defeating the German war machine as Polish is... Well, a David vs Goliath battle.

  • actually Polish forces were pretty strong comparing them to europe countries armed forces accept germany and france but the strategic position was catastrophic even before the war started.

  • And the germans took them over by surprise. The attack started around 4-5am, am I right?

  • yes thats true

  • i would not say it was a surprise, however there was no war declaration and the polish army was not fully mobilised

  • Poland had a great welltrained army and good leadership. Prior to the German takeover of Checkoslovakia Poland would probably been able to put up an decent defense. They argued this situation to France and GreatBritain during the Munich aggreement. But they were too anxious to please Hitler then. So when Germany finally declared war against Poland the country was extremely surrounded were the Germans had 4 major routes to take against the Poles. Not to mention they got backstabbed by Russia.

  • .....But dont belittle the polish army. Noone at that time could match the German army and blitzkrieg tactic.

  • For every german lost 4 poles died. Polish army was like italian. A lot of constripts with old equipment. Some units (mountain divisions and mechanized cavalry brigades) were good units but usually it looked like a WWI army.

  • thanks for the info. I like ancient history a lot but am now getting into world war 2 some. I didnt know that.

  • Yeah right, and polish cavalry charged german tanks... Where do you people get this crapy information?!

Read some books, do some research!

  • AWESOME music.

  • I cannot wait for this game

  • Its amazing how some people would say this game would is boring by looking at the graphics instead of the gameplay. Only true strategy fans would appreciate this kind of games =D

  • there are so many options in this game im getting really nervous... imagine how much time this game will eat!!! :D This will be epic! SO MANY IOPTIONS... I hope there will be an option to reorganise units equipment. 'cause I WANT to upgrade polish tank guns to 125 mm in 1939 :D

  • I want space lasers :<

  • @numbersss101 Obviously, besides its not really that its boring, ofcourse it has its boring moments, but most people just can't handle the amount of options and things you need to watch, they think the total war series is true strategy, but they cannot think beyond the battlefield, they lack patience, they lack the quality to raise towards the highest in terms of leading, because though the battles in the last are great, the ruling of an empire is far from complete there unlike in hoi. i love it

  • @numbersss101 Uh I'm a strategy fan and I can beat you in chess anytime, but this game is so huge that you are lost in the details.

  • @numbersss101

    yeah it's pretty hardcore :P

  • @numbersss101 well everbody know that stategy fans dont care about hte graphic but board fans Hates call of duty and so on and they dont care about the graphic only gameplay

  • @numbersss101 and i do, they can go back to their cod, im going to play ruse, command and conquer, civilizations and hearts of iron because its actually challenging

  • I hope that by making thousands of provinces, they haven't made it more complicated to play. Although, you certainly get more of a scale of what Germans will be up against this time around

  • I like the fact that, this time, instead of having to play as commander of all your countries forces, you have the option to play as, say, Hitler or Stalin thanks to the AI commanders.

  • Yea, but where is the fun in watching the AI do the fighting for you?

  • I think Russia should have Gulags or at least some sort of concentration camp where they could put political prisoners/POWs/or threats to the state. etc. It would make it more historically accurate. And it would be cool if you could move like the Volga Germans or the Tartars there once they'd become a threat, like it would be interesting/fun to just move groups of people around, or deport them to places, or countries, it could even have a victory point count towards winning.

  • Paradox has already said many time they are not putting what your asking in game, cause too many sociological trouble in many country, so risk for the game to get banned (in other word same reason they don't put swastika)

If you want them you will have to find or make a mod, which is not a trouble with paradox game since they are very mod friendly.

  • Good luck with that but Paradox is still a business so like I said if you want those you will have to go with mod, since Paradox is no gonna block itself market like Germany to be the most historically accurate game ever.

They said they will never put those in so often (and is also stickied) that tread about those that appear on the forum get auto delete.

But good luck still, but would be less trouble to make a mod =)

  • adding any kind of camps into the game (not sure whats wrong with POW camps though...) Is illegal.

Furthermore, this is not a simulation, it is a tactical wargame set in the WW2 era, therefore it is not designed to be completely realistic.

  • I think you are right about the POW camps, this would be an interesting addition so that instead of killing the other side you could actually encircle them and capture them instead. You could then set a policy of exploiting the POW's. Following the Geneva convention, or seeing if you could entice them to even fight for you. Eg. General Vlasov's Committee for the Liberation of the Peoples of Russia. etc.

  • You can already encircle and capture them in HOI 1 and 2. Liberating prison camps could be a feature, but since it's a simulation (and one built for the sake of entertainment, in stead of realism) a lot of real world situations will not make it in the end, especially if they didn't have an impact on the war.

  • I think encircling and choosing to capture rather than destroy would be an interesting feature. Where captured soldiers would have a drain on supplies but add a bit to manpower and should a player choose to destroy their belligerence could increase.

  • Oh, you think that deporting and putting people in concentration camp's is fun?

  • Well it would certainly add a lot, and yes it could potentially have a 'fun value' to it

  • @mage4un There is no deporting and concentration camps in this game is there?

I think its more like inter-country conflicts here.

  • @Dklonmy

Nope. Even strategic bombing is designed so that you cannot terror-bomb civilians.

  • @mage4un a whole lot of fun looking to the western powers :D they still love it don't they? Netherlands invented it, USA loved to put ethnic Japanese in camps, Russia killed more in camps then the war did, England still has camps in annexed Northern Ireland, but long love freedom! long live truth and equality though I am 100% sure the allies give us the opposite of this!

  • @mage4un ya lol

  • @mage4un there are NO concentration camps in HoI

  • @mage4un I did that all the time with facist USA lol...... , in real life , I would kill myself for that :P

  • @mage4un You think that creating A-bombs an trowing at civilians is fun ?

  • @mage4un depends on who you're putting in the concentration camp. LOL. I think putting glenn beck in a concentration camp would be awsome!

  • youre getting negatives because youre wrong...

  • I am the truth, you have fallen by the wayside of truth.

  • I had problems controlling my front in HoI2 as the Soviet Union.

That front looks massive, and especially nasty. I'm going to have to hit the pause button, and play on the lowest speed!

  • looks awesome

  • I cannot wait

  • Let's just hope that the AI can catch up with this. I really don't want a failure as Civilization 3 with a moronic AI. OTherwise looks really good!

  • Civ3? That was Ages ago. CIV IV had an OK one, I guess. Of course, the only satisfying AI will be when they don't have to handycap the player to make the game harder...

  • Exacly. Fuck I heat every difficulty nowdays being more STUFF for the AI...

Basicly that will break or make this game for me. The Artificial intelligence. Cause I don't plan on sitting playing 12 hours multiplayer straight :P

  • Well, HOi2 had a crappy AI, and it was still loads of fun (for me anyway) and they did say they were improving it...paradox does strike me as a corp that at least sometimes listens to it's customers. Unlike, frigging Ubi or EA...

  • Well I don't know, HoI2 had pretty good AI actually. It didn't know how to react to some things but overall the AI was good especially with the patches. + You could mod AI which was important.

But yeah lets hope for an even better AI in the next version, if its worse I'll just pirate the game but if its really nice I'll definetly buy it and any expansions to support the effort.

  • Well, having read the developer's diaries...I'm guessing they will have to improve the AI significantly, as they have made it into such a major component. The whole auto-control features, all that. It would look extremely bad if that doesn't work, so hopefully they will take good care to ensure functionality. I for one would be more than willing to have them push the release date back a month or more just for that.

  • And they said etw was so much bigger.... haha they're such a bigger creator team with more money and still.

  • Ahh, really hate to invade the soviet union, takes forever :P

  • Now will take forever and a little more. Geez, its scary how big it is in HOI3.

  • hey, the time won't get longer. Just more detailed. Unless the game slowes your PC down, which, of course, it will. But with the new system, you could just Strategic bomb them, after destroying their army and Airforce, of course.

  • I'm still waiting for you to show me how Communism (true communism if you will in line with Marx, Engels etc) is compatible with reality or even human nature. It seems to me the idea sounds like a good idea on paper or in political science textbooks. But when actually applied to reality it falls apart. Its a pie in the sky theory.

  • Give me one example of a Communist regime or country that could produce a society of abundance. Give me one Communist country that can or could compete economically with a Capitalist nation. Give me one Communist country where the government bureaucracy didn't turn corrupt and become a ruling/elite class of its own.

I didn't see a lot of equality or abundance in the Soviet Union. Generals and Politburo members didn't have to wait in line 12 hours for cheese and bread. Everything was scarce.

  • that is true mate some people who did not lived under communist regime think that it is cool. No it does not there is no inflation wages are high but you can not buy anything and if you can it will be some inferrior-quality goods. Communist society = society of equal slaves. If capitalism have rich and poor communism have equal poor people.

  • those who were born in west and think it was cool in ussr, have seen it only from posters. and posters are cool even in somalia.

  • Exactly. When I see people walking around with their Che and USSR shirts I want to punch them in the fucking mouth. I don't see a difference between someone wearing a USSR shirt and a Nazi SS or Gestapo shirt. Both regimes are equally disgusting. Communism is one of those things that seems cool when you are on the outside.

  • you are sooo right, i'm so mad when some kind of pseudo intelligent maniac praises che and stalin and actually believes in all that. They can't be reasonably explained how it actually worked. I lived in Poland, so my parents did...it sucked completely, until 1989 of course.

  • Agreed... you have a lot of truth there... like my histiry teacher said: "Communism only works on paper"

  • Agreed as well.

  • That is what they always freaking say! But, while true, it's also extremely shallow and hypocritical. As it turns out, capitalism works well on paper and creates a lot of wealth, but if left to its own devices, it, too, will stagnate. So, there does need to be a bit of state control, trust-busting, fraud-preventing and protection of the public interest. Like in Germany, for instance...

  • Yeap... no system is perfect, (almost) nothing is perfect.

My mother used to say "The paper can hold anything you can put on it" (sorry of it has not many sense, im translatin it from Spanish.

Talking about Germany, its amazing how it recovered from the war... Germany went back to year 0, and rose again in 50 years, and that without taking into account that it was splitted in two ´till 90´s

  • the flag looks kinda wierd in this video

  • man, taking over Russia is gonna be a BITCH

    lol

  • I love the music, hopefully Hoi3 has an epic soundtrack

  • Only UK and France in Allies? :S

  • The Year said 1936, plus the game is still in development.

  • Well, all the others were part of the British Empire. Maybe they've got some kind of special system for them?

  • nah not australia, new zealand and south africa

  • U.S. is isolationist at that time (Through Roosevelt himself is aligned toward allies).

Has for other country like Australia, Canada, South Africa... They are part of Commonwealth alliance so they basically join allies when U.K. enter wars.

  • wtf are you guys talking about im saying in game its easy to beat finland as russia, even if your a noob on your first day its not that hard

    youtube comments = srsbsns raaaaaaageeeeee

  • 5 months with german help and weapons.

  • 4:1 odds pfft. itd be like me facing 4 noobs in cs who just got the game 2day. anyone could beat the russians in a defensive war at that point; they sucked.

  • Awesome music! Looks like an incredible game!

  • I just hope that they will correct the positions of the capitals in the game. Warsaw is far to far in the north, Kaunas is to much in the west, Riga and Tallinn are too much in the south and Helsinki too much in the north.

Besides that, it is a great game

  • It took the soviets ~5 months to break through the main finnish defence line, I wouldnt call that an epic fail if ur outnumbered 4 to 1 in men and much more in machines...

  • Oh by the way, what's going on in Manchuria? Border conflicts or just a refined historical border?

  • Is this some "special" campaign since "Finland" is obviously occupied by Soviet Union (Finland was a sovereign state in 1936).

  • Hmmm? Finland looks independent to me there.

  • What are you talking about? She's clearly independent in the scenario and with her correct pre-1940/44/47 borders.

  • I am NOT attacking Soviet Union! hehe...the size I think will make it more realistic. But then again, the size can act as a disadvantage for Soviet Union as well...

    Can't wait!!!

  • Blech those square flags are ugly. The red circle of the Japanese flag is squeezed into an oval.

  • i agree the flags look a bit ugly. other than that no complaints from me.

  • I cant say i like how scruched up the flags look in the intellegence screen

  • It can be argued that Communism never had a chance because outside of books its not realistic or adaptable to human nature. Even with Lenin or someone else calling the shots. Communism replaced the Czars and royal family with a bureaucratic elite. Its just a republican form of tyranny. Anyways, as you can see I'll enjoy smashing Communism on my computer in this game. lol

  • Good music!

  • The ultimate in Grand Strategy......

  • Im pissing myself to see how russia holds out against the german AI xD

    Cheers,

    Nick

  • the music is win win :D

  • Hey now, let's be realistic. The correct phrase when talking about Paradox games is "I can't wait for the first patch to be released!"

  • Even bugged as hell, it's still gonna be greatest strategy evar =D

  • At least they patch their games, for months after they are released

  • Actually they do it for years with some games.

  • Johann is awesome

  • True but hey paradox got the best patching of the video game industry. =)

  • The community is even better at modding the games.

  • i so cant wait for this to be released!!!!!

  • Can't wait. :)

  • I hope you can build a Liberty Prime unit to destroy them commies.

  • Maybe Sticky helps you with that problem!

  • Awesome

  • I can't wait! =3

  • Cool!, But Manchuria Looks Strange...

  • Trust me, Manchuria isn't the only weird looking country... See Belgium, Bulgaria, etc.

  • yeah, workers of the world, unite!!!!!
