Furthermore, Molly beat Bellatrix fair and square and Harry even subdued her at one point. The list in this video does make a lot of sense in most cases though Moody and Snape didn't really duel eachother or any of the same wizards so how can anyone really determine which one was more powerful?

Last I checked, the Onmyouji Abe No Semei can summon up to 12 Shikigami and Shikigami are stronger than Patrones. Age means nothing. Gildroy Lockheart is older than Hermione, but she would beat him down like Conan in a serious one-on-one duel.

But from then on, I think it's a matter of taste.
Mad-Eye Moody was the best Auror ever, Bellatrix is a psycho killing machine, Snape is a brilliant duelist too, McGonagall either...

1. Voldemort - I mean, even as a teenager he had followers and had proven himself powerful.
2. Dumbledore - Many would argue that he's more powerful, but I would disagree. Actually many things can be said about Voldemort/Dumbledore. They have a different kind of power, and yet I find Voldemort more powerful. If he hadn't underestimated the power of love, I doubt Voldemort would have died.

I don't know. There isn't anything clever really about scarring people into following you. It's nothing like loyalty. Also, as you said he underestimated the power of love. Love in the series turned the tables completely more then once and he has no love at all. Dumbledore is dripping with love and loyalty. Hmmm..... I don't know. The whole list depends on how we're judging power. Judging on magical power alone, Harry wouldn't even be in my top ten. Sure he beat Voldemort, but he beat him with the support of his friends and the 'power of love', not actual magical power. I'd say...
1. Voldemort. He has the most ACTUAL power.
2. Dumbledore.
3. Grindelwald
4. Snape

But, Voldemort knew he couldn't kill Dumbledore because of it, and Dumbledore knew he couldn't kill Voldemort because of the horocuxes. I think if the Elder Wand was Voldemort's, he would have easily defeated Dumbledore. Also, Dumbledore may have beaten Voldemort without the Elder Wand if they both were at their prime.

@JunkieMinecraft I am actually going to change my original statement here. I feel that the first two spots it really depends. I don't think you can give a MOST powerful on a list like this. It really would depend on outside factors for who would win. That includes things like age, location, weapons, etc. For example, Dumbledore was a strategist and Voldemort was raw power. Raw power can win or (as was the case when 600 Romans defeated over 100,000 Iceni) a sound strategy can win. It depends. :/
I'd disagree with that. Dumbledore for me excels Voldemort in both. He is an excellent strategist, but he's seen to defeat about 7/8 of Voldemort's top death eaters, then tackle Voldemort himself, which kind of stalemated, in OOPT. The most Voldemort is seen to take on is 3, McGonagall, Kingsley, and Slughorn. I'd say Dumbledore exceeds Voldemort in both counts. For me the only challenger to Dumbledore mentioned in the books is Merlin
What do you mean he is seen to defeat? If you look at my original list, I did put Dumbledore at the top because I feel he is a better wizard. I don't understand your idea of Merline being so powerful either. He is never specifically stated to have performed any kind of large magical feat. The only thing is the Order of Merlin, but that, like the fact that he is part of the vernacular, could come from him being so famous. Really, Dumbledore has no real competition except Voldemort.

J.K. Rowling has stated in interviews that the defeat of Bellatrix at Molly's hand was in large part due to Bellatrix underestimating Molly's magical abilities. However, I will say that Molly is quite powerful. It was only "effortless" in the movie. In the book, it took 2-3 pages for that duel and it became so heated that the ground beneath them split from the heat.
Even Harry beat voldemort, it is because voldy used the elder wand when he wasn't the owner of it hence, he lost. This doesn't mean harry Is not good too, still harry beat many others which proves he was one great wizard.
Harry is a mediocre wizard. His hearts in the right place but in terms of magical ability? he doesnt make the list. 6) Kingsley Shacklebolt. Ministry's most powerful auror after Moody's retirement, and seen to fight 2 Death Eaters succesfully in OOPT
7) McGonagall. 2nd in Command to Dumbledore at Hogwars and beats Snape
8) Severus Snape
9) Hermione Granger - The most outstanding student at Hogwarts during her time there
10) Neville Longbottom - Seen to improve dramatically during OOPT, and an effective fighter in DH, killing Nagini

I think it's so hard to tell.
Well, it is sure that Dumbledore and Voldemort rank the first, and then comes Grindlewald.
But from then on, I think it's a matter of taste.
Mad-Eye Moody was the best Auror ever, Bellatrix is a psycho killing machine, Snape is a brilliant duelist too, McGonagall either...
And I don't think we can see Harry the way he can be. I mean, he's only 17. He's without a doublt the best duelist of the students, and he may become one of the greatest duelist when he gets older

1. Voldemort - I mean, even as a teenager he had followers and had proven himself powerful.
2. Dumbledore - Many would argue that he's more powerful, but I would disagree. Actually many things can be said about Voldemort/Dumbledore. They have a different kind of power, and yet I find Voldemort more powerful. If he hadn't underestimated the power of love, I doubt Voldemort would have died.
3. Grindelwald - Well there is a reason HE became Dark Lord, isn't there? I would love a book about my them

I don't know. There isn't anything clever really about scarring people into following you. It's nothing like loyalty. Also, as you said he underestimated the power of love. Love in the series turned the tables completely more then once and he has no love at all. Dumbledore is dripping with love and loyalty. He may have been gone, but he essentially defeats Voldemort with his his legacy. That's power. Totally agree about wanting more content on Grindelwald, would LOVE it

Hmmm..... I don't know. The whole list depends on how we're judging power. Judging on magical power alone, Harry wouldn't even be in my top ten. Sure he beat Voldemort, but he beat him with the support of his friends and the 'power of love', not actual magical power. I'd say...
1. Voldemort. He has the most ACTUAL power.
2. Dumbledore.
3. Grindelwald
4. Snape
After that, I don't have many feelings. I just think that Voldemort is definitely more powerful than Snape & almost beat EW!Dumbledore.

@blackmumba111 I extremely disagree with you. Dumbledore was only stronger than Voldemort because of the Elder Wand (Most powerful wand ever). But, Voldemort knew he couldn't kill Dumbledore because of it, and Dumbledore knew he couldn't kill Voldemort because of the horocuxes. I think if the Elder Wand was Voldemort's, he would have easily defeated Dumbledore. Also, Dumbledore may have beaten Voldemort without the Elder Wand if they both were at their prime.

@JunkieMinecraft I am actually going to change my original statement here. I feel that the first two spots it really depends. I don't think you can give a MOST powerful on a list like this. It really would depend on outside factors for who would win. That includes things like age, location, weapons, etc. For example, Dumbledore was a strategist and Voldemort was raw power. Raw power can win or (as was the case when 600 Romans defeated over 100,000 Iceni) a sound strategy can win. It depends. :/

I'd disagree with that. Dumbledore for me excels Voldemort in both. He is an excellent strategist, but he's seen to defeat about 7/8 of Voldemort's top death eaters, then tackle Voldemort himself, which kind of stalemated, in OOPT. The most Voldemort is seen to take on is 3, McGonagall, Kingsley, and Slughorn. I'd say Dumbledore exceeds Voldemort in both counts. For me the only challenger to Dumbledore mentioned in the books is Merlin

I don't understand your idea of Merline being so powerful either. He is never specifically stated to have performed any kind of large magical feat. The only thing is the Order of Merlin, but that, like the fact that he is part of the vernacular, could come from him being so famous. Really, Dumbledore has no real competition except Voldemort.

J.K. Rowling has stated in interviews that the defeat of Bellatrix at Molly's hand was in large part due to Bellatrix underestimating Molly's magical abilities. However, I will say that Molly is quite powerful. It was only "effortless" in the movie. In the book, it took 2-3 pages for that duel and it became so heated that the ground beneath them split from the heat.

i think snape should be 2nd. think about it. he loved his whole life. sacrificed himself for it. all the while, he kept every single thing hidden from voldemort. made voldemort believe he was truly on the dark side when in fact, he was on the good side since about the time harry was born. that takes a hell of a lot of power to fool voldemort, given that he's a very skilled and powerful legilimens. one of the best. which means snape had to be better. just 1 reason why i think he should be be 2nd.
