M249 Gearbox Guide (Evike.com)

hi i was looking for help on this gun because i think mine is broken and i cant figure out how to fix it. when i first got it (yesterday) i charged the battery and went out to shoot it. when i started shooting it all of a sudden it started shooting its self and eventually just stopped. it wont shoot or even burst out air . its not jammed and i tried two different batteries. the gun still wont work. i bought it from evike and i would really appreciate some help .

by the way, that is not at all how you shim a gearbox.

why the hell would you use a drill, you are just asking to strip the screws.

what kind of motor is on this? short? or medium? and do all short /medium motors have certain lengths? this is my first project

@1oirammario1 its 1 inch shy of the length of the fied tray and it is as tall as the main part of the reciever

finally a box enough big to hold a m170 spring..i tried to install it into my V3 but nearly broke my fingers the damn spring is too hard!!

@jabloncan yeah i finally got an m170 in a v3 gb, bruised finger tips but the fps was insane.

@GoodGuysAirsoft it will take all normal airsoft parts, small type motor, same as a v3

yes, has a short motor though, a couple small things are different though...

this gear box is so simple its not even funny.... quick tip if your 249 starts to do a run away fire when you pull the trigger.... the cause is your fire switch... easy fix... oil it.... with cilicone oil.... then press the button rapidly until the button pushes smoothly

i wish all AEG's have that kind of gear box... it is so easy to maintain the internals coz you dont have to wrestle with the spring and the spring guide just to put it in place or remove it :(

does anyone know why the gearbox is so huge? to fit in the shell or maybe cause bigger is more reliable?

Think because that gun's fired on auto a lot, and a bigger gearbox and handle that stress more, but that's just a guess

thats a beatly looking sring guide.. this is a simple looking bear box... like really simple looking..

Yea it is heavy too, almost 1/3 the weight of the gun.
