Mardi Gras 2009 St. Augustine and Scottish Marching band

Are you kidding? How is this the best band!? They look to the side while they are marching and the trumpet players raised thier instruments at different angles. And when the band stopped, the trombones weren't aligned. I know a good band when i see one and this isnt one.

@fluteplayr27live In New Orleans they are the best.... best show band!!! but the show bands in the city blast like tooooooooooo much!!! it is crazy, but sorry i totally agree. The only two drum crop style bands in New Orleans are Holy Cross High School, and Arch bishop Rummel, but Holy Cross is bringing the Militant grade marching back in the City.

I know the young people today know nothing about the size of the band when our legendary Mr. Hamp first started this band. So, I'll say this, the size doesn't matter. Aug was blowing away bands when they had less than 60 members and I know this because my brother was in the band then...1960's and early 70's Hamp always could do more with less, while the public schools did poor with more.

Big doesn't equate to great musicianship..it only means you have a big band.

OKAY YES st.aug is very over ratted, but a true new orleain would tell u know one can do it like st.aug in new orleans, but i agree the fake military style band always was a turn off to me with them.

In response to the statement made from nsutrumpeter. In order to become a show band u have to have proven yourself worthy and once u have reach levels of accomplishment such as St .Aug has then there is no need to prove yourself . So this goes out to all the haters St.Aug has it's name stamped into the City of New Olreans forever so you can get with it are get over ..

Hotlikefire 72, I graduated from LWH, and I can tell you truth on this. I go NSU and their band is nothing but crap.They play the same shit on every fucking game, mostly the fight song, and on halftime, all they play is shit from1940's and 50's, only been appreciated to old folks. Nothing, modern because, you got that prick director who want to do things his own way, and it has been known that one third of his members left.

over rated and over used ive head that same cadence all over the country...every show band does the samething...when was the last time that st. aug went to a competition? they dont go cause they suck and wouldnt even place top 10!!! when they rank at a comp ill start liking them again

true but the last time they were at a compitition it was way before katrina! the hs i graduated from went from over 100 to only 42!!! this past yr they placed first at a compition hosted by top colleges. the size of the band doesnt matter but what does is if you can play or not

St.Aug was in Houston for the MLK parade and BTOB in January 05 and they went in 04. They really don't have to go anywhere to prove anything, plus they went to St.Pete in 04 for a BOTB and they were in the 04 BTOB in New Orleans
