considering all things this engine has poor hp per liter even torque per liter. But its still a v8 which will respond well to mods. Still I would never touch one of these even if it was modded. Id take a 5.0 mustang if I wanted a v8

I've driven a Dakota with the 4.7 and it gets up and goes too, if Jeep had put a 5 speed in the GC with a V8 I'd probably own one instead of a wrangler, Check out my video of it I just uploaded today.

Not to metion I can go hunting for moose elk deer drive in 4 feet of snow five feet of water go up down moutains.To the vdud owner less than 200 bucks to get the same power as me what dream land are you in.I use my power for hauling 6000 lbs boats skidoos quads the list goes on.I can sleep in the queen size back area of my jeep .Then I eat ricers for breakfest.LOL.

Interesting that a 4.7litre V8 engine only produces 30BHP more then a my MK4 golf 1.9 V4 TDI engine. I would have thought something like this was pushing well over 350BHP.

No, not "modded." You making it sound like I Skylined it or something. A remap is a simply plugging in a USB cable, and unlocking the engine to produce what it is capable of. So a remap is not not a phiscal mod, its a digital one. And the bigger turbo I only purchased becuase the stock one was on its way out. So in reality, the only phisical change was changing out an aging part that where due to be replaced.

All I'm saying is, for a 4.7 lite V8, I was expecting a WHOLE lot more.

@phsouzabr yea, a simple cold air intake alone will push over 20 HP, 8mm HI-DENS wires will add another 5, flowmaster 44 adds another 10, all for around 120 bucks. seems like someone feels defensive about there gutless four banger.

@phsouzabr The High Output Version with a modified intake manifold pushes out over 260bhp against the standard pre 2002 V8 which only manages around 220bhp. Pretty big difference, but by euro and asia standards 55bhp per litre is pretty poor. Saying that my z3 3.0 only manages 77bhp per litre.

I'm really surprised at how fast this can accelerate, i expected no better than about 8.5 seconds. This is almost as fast as my 04 grand prix (WHICH I LOOOVE)!! I'm planning on buying a 99 Grand Cherokee sometimes in the near future but i can't decide if i want the straight 6 or the 4.7

My 2000 Jeep grand cherokee has every option but the H.O. engine. It has the 4.7L V8 but it is a lazy pig. There is no chance it would ever sqeel the tires. Why Is this one so fast?

I have a 1993 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, which from the looks of it is nearly identical to some Grand Cherokee/ Laredo's, but mine has the 5.2L 318 V8 and no 2wd selection on the transfer case, only 4 hi and 4 low.

@phsouzabr Yea. It really is amazing how quick these will snap. The 4.0 inlines are rated at 5400 bone stock and empty. But I have a roof rack on it now and offroad tools plus a system and Im pretty fat but with all this inside of it and 131000 miles itll snap up there pretty quick. It beat my exwifes 03 Dodge Neon SXT
