@gilgamesh310 Well, I agree with most things the IGN editor's said in the video. I have never felt more emotions while playing a game than with this one. I just got sucked into the game's totally unique vibe, the music, the art direction and just the ambiance all contributed to that. I don't want to prejudge, but your favorite game is probably GTA or Halo, what says enough about why you don't understand what's so special about this game.

@Jort007 My favourite games are Resident Evil 4, Half Life 2 and Deus Ex. Killer 7 is more unique and that's one of my favourite games too, but uniqueness alone does not make a great game. You say you felt a load of emotions while playing, but what were those emotions and how did the game make you feel them. Noone is able to give good reasons as to why Shadow of the Colossus is so great. I do still think it's a decent game, but it's no masterpece and definitely not the best PS 2 game.

Like the movie Black Swan, some thought it was a masterpiece and others thought it was a piece of trash. The best selling game on the ps2 is GTA: San Andreas but i dont think i could possibly choose my all time favorite ps2 game but it defiantly would not be shadow of shadow of the colossus it was extremely barring i couldn't even sit through the game or follow the story very well.

@Stevie260392 SotC is one of the most artistic games ever made on the PS2 (Okami is another example). The story, barren wasteland allows the player to use their creativity and imagination to fill in the gaps. Much like The Legend of Zelda's text allows the player to create a voice for each character. These kinds of games force the player to use their mind.

The point is if this list was based on a viewers vote for top 100 best ps2 game instead of these IGN editors SotC would not even be in the top 20 the #1 spot would most likely go to a GTA game or a Metal Gear game or even maybe Resident Evil 4.

@Stevie260392 I agree with your list, except I do not have a strong opinion on Final Fantasy. Never played a single one of them until later in the future. Just got a PS3, so I'm able to download FF games that way.

Well, people have many varying opinions, so it's not exactly a FACT that SotC gets ranked even more below. I appreciate this game, because it forces the gamer to use the artistic side of their mind more than what GTA requires (which has the completely opposite idea of using the mind).

Like what migueldELLO said SotC only sold 1.0 million that is very low and that is why it would not make it very high on the list where GTA San Andreas sold 17.33 million makeing it the best selling and most popular game on the ps2 also if you like a mind challenging game then you may want to look at games like Resident Evil 4, Final Fantasy X and Metal Gear Solid these games are way more of a challenge then SotC they also sold better and are more popular.

@Stevie260392 I understand where you are coming from, and yes, MGS is so freaking awesome!!!!!! (so far, 1st MGS). I have the HD collection to be played later. But this is where I draw the line here, because I completely disagree with SotC being inferior to GTA due to sales numbers. That's ridiculous...and pathetic. I also do not see a relation between more difficulty=smarter, more intelligent games. SotC has its own share of brilliance that can only be discovered from extensive replayability.

Also i dont think GTA is better just because it sells better, but because it is better written and the open world gameplay is grate also GTA really has done a lot for games beating all the controversy and helping video games be more respectable in the eyes of the media we gamers do owe some thanks to Rockstar games for that while SotC has done nothing.

I miss the ps2... Y? Because modern day video games lack emotion and personality. All they seem to be about are kill kill repittation (Call of duty) and treating players like idiots with the ps2 I could engross myself into a story whether it was sad or terryfieing and people didn't mock you when you teared up at a certain moment. Shadow of the Colossus was a fantastic game, great art design, music, boss fights a huge world but one thing I didn't like was the character's animation I mean cmon he runs weird but overall this game is epic and that kid has more balls than Kratos, seriously just an ordinary human boy with just a bow, a sword and his best companion the horse fighting against 100 feet tall Colossus just to save a girl's life that's a real man right there no question about it.

I agree. Shadow of the colossus have something spiritual in it. I have played many great games on PS2 and had a lot of fun with them over and over again. But SoTC is different, and that's what makes it so special and not for everybody. Just like art does.

Resident Evil Outbreak 1 and 2 are probably the best 2 games on the PS2, but thanks to the half-minute loadscreens when you play from the DVD and all the dead servers, it's hard to convince people that it's a good game at all. I used to play it online with a moded PS2 [game installed on a Hard Disk Drive] and it was...... Fantastic. I played every day from release to the fall of the servers and never got tired of it.

@l50caliber Actually, it seems japanese servers were taken down some two months ago. Those were paid, so people really weren't interested. Shame, nevertheless, as I would be playing it right now if it wasn't offline. Capcom needs to re-release or sequel Resident Evil Outbreak. Perhaps a File #3 with files #1 and #2 remade and released to both Xbox 360 and PS3. That would be perfect. Or better yet, a PC release, to take advantage of the fact that it wouldn't depend on PSN and Xbox Live.

@du0lol Well since resident evil 4 , 5 and racoon city have been ported to the pc as well they could release a file 3 with the same charecters with an advanced and improved AI controlls and so on, and has a bonus on the extras u could buy the scenarios from file 1 and 2 :)i would pre-order that for sure.
