The person crying in the kitchen could be his mum, and asking 'where have you been?' may be the imaginary place your mind is when you're high, and 'where did you go?' could be where his soul lies now.

this reminds me of one of my good friends in high school who i grew up with he died at the end of his sophomore year in a car accident ....its not what it seems but it is.....
when i first heard this song i thought it was about a kid in a wheelchair.. he ran away from home and jumped off a bridge.. listen to the words and it fits.. never used his legs but he had a good throw.. found his spaceship, did it hurt when you hit the ground.. so sad..
