Let me guess, you're one of the types who thinks To Kill a Mockingbird should be banned because it has the N-word in it and totally ignores the context and message of the novel?
@Debunka I like tons of things like Arrested Development that could be considered offensive out of context, because they actually make sense and are funny in the context of the show. I watched Glee for six months and didn't think it was a good show.
Additionally, the casting of Kevin McHale was actually a real event, not a plot point or a line used in a work of fiction, so I don't really see the similarity between it and the n-word in To Kill a Mockingbird.
Having non-disabled people play disabled people today is similar to having white people in blackface make-up play black characters in the early twnetieth century,or to boys playing women's parts in Elizabethan theater.
I can't believe the comments on this video. it's amazing how bitchy people become when confronted with uncomfortable truths about the object of their obsessive fandom. for the record, I thought you made pretty good points.
@gorramdoll haha, no problem. I like your various choices of covers, just by the way. Papa Was a Rodeo and Abigail, Belle of Kilronan in particular are probably my two favorite songs off 69 love songs.
They did audition people in wheelchairs. They just found the guy who plays him now, better at playing the role. Pointless video and they are using lots of different people e.g white, black, fat, gay, thin, jewish to try and please everyone by not leaving people out. What a waste of cyberspace.
Question. Why watch it if you find it offensive? I get that you said you like musicals and stuff but come on. There ARE other musicals and probably musical shows out there. But if you really want a non-offensive musical, you'd be best off with a Disney
dude I watched like...three episodes at the point that I made this video? I watched the rest of the half-season but all in all it took like 12 hours of my life so what's the big deal.
@gorramdoll there IS none! I'm just voicing my meaningless opinion just like you were on that video. I voice my opinion rather often but I don't really make videos about my peeves with tv shows. Calm down and breath a second. Try not to jump down everyone who comments your videos throats.
I'm going to pitch a character called "Knee-jerk Liberal who overreacts to everything he perceives as being politically incorrect" to Saturday Night Live and base it on you!
also: it's not the stuff Sue says, it's the characterization. you obviously aren't paying attention to either the things I'm saying in this video, or the show.
I cant hear a word you're saying, Well thats a lie i had to turn my speakers up to full. Glee has the offensive factor as a comedic tool, nothing more. Sue makes awful jokes that are racist, but thats part of the character. If you find it offensive why watch it?
if you think Sue's jokes are the only thing about the show that might be considered offensive, then I'm not sure you know what I mean when I say the show is offensive.
if you actually watched arty (the kid in the wheelchair) just had a lead and everyone loves him. he's become a prominent character. know your info before you have a whole rant.
if you actually looked at the date of my video you can see that I posted it weeks before that episode, so how could I know about it? For the record, I did like that he had a lead.
I cannot stand television in general and REFUSE to watch ANYTHING on it (especially since History has gone downhill with all of this UFO nonsense, and TLC is mostly just home-ec shows).
I don't actually watch TV--like, the object--but I watch TV on the Internet pretty much constantly. I really like True Blood and especially Mad Men. And I like lots of shows that were canceled for being too awesome, like Carnivale and Pushing Daisies. But that's not exactly a lot of good TV shows compared to all the horrible shows on TV and reality shows and stuff.
What I mean is that I just do not have much patience for fiction in general. Most of it seems to be mere emotional titilation (even you noticed in your latest book review that it all seemed to be an exercise with little insight).
I only watch documentaries or films/miniseries based on true stories since I'm in need of knowlege and control of my world (though often I cannot stand those too much either as they only represent one school of thought when there could be half a dozen).
Do you know what I find offsensive? People who make stupid videos with bad sound quality while playing with their hair. Glee is a funny show that is different and should be appreciated for what it is. If you haven't noticed, real high schools are also filled with stereotypes and although glee is a much more dramatic version its still supposed to be fun. Maybe you should avoid the tv show if you can't enjoy it for what it is. And that's how Slym C's it
why do you care if I touch my hair while I'm talking? I don't have a microphone and I can't help the quality, I'm sorry about it but there isn't anything I can do.
I had the volume turned up all the way on my computer and I still could not understand a word you were saying.

@Debunka LOL, explain the context and message of Glee to me then

@gorramdoll I actually meant to use it in the context of how you knee-jerk types react to every little thing that could be considered "offensive".
I imagine you give the stink-eye to anyone who orders their coffee black, don't you?

I have a few things to say:
1) Sue says racist things but she is meant to.
2) I like the show and it isn't racist it is sweet.
3) Get a haircut u big poof.

Is this a joke? Really.... Do you not understand irony? That's the point of the show, "if you haven't noticed"...
And, do you need to brush your hair the whole time? This isn't high school, Either way... nobody cares...
Jcpalmer27 2 years ago
Do people stop brushing their hair when they graduate from high school? I'm glad I missed that piece of information.

You do realise Glee is a TV show right? If you find it offensive, don't watch it. Simple as. Making a video about it is plain sad.

I watch it to see if it gets better, and because I like musicals...I'm allowed to watch something I think is offensive.
