I went coast to coast, carrying camping gear in 51 days, at age 58. I did 4,108 miles, purposely taking a long jog north through Colorado up to Montana.  It was absolutely a great experience. Plan to do it again in 2011. Contact me at vilejjv@yahoo.com if you have questions.

You are carrying no luggage. Did you have sag vehicle carry bags and shuttle you from your route to hotels and back? After a day of bike touring your clothes smell and you need to carry a load of laundry.

@koolmansbacons Never done it but research the American Discovery Trail. Coast to coast plenty of road riding.
