Damien was just sensational on idol. He has been the best winner the show has produced in Australia. His voice was just so utterly unique and beautiful and 'night of my life' is a great song thanks to Damien. I hope he has a long and successful career in the music industry.

In all honesty, I think all the different versions of Idol that utilize the "special song written for the finals" concept need to retire it posthaste. The songs are mediocre at best --the finalists should be able to sing songs of their own choosing rather than this drivel. Having said that, this gentleman has quite the pleasant voice--but the song is just too schmaltzy and sappy--much like last year's awful "This Is My Now" on American Idol 6 and "Inside Your Heaven" the year that Carrie won.

When Fantasia won, I think her "struggle" came back to her for a moment. She was a teen mother, she couldn't read, she had to "fake" her way through the competition, and to come from such humble beginnings to "this", was nothing short of a Rags To Riches US Success Story.
Oh by the way, did you ever hear The Singapore Idol, if you type Australian Idol Finalists, you'll hear him sing, "Through The Fire" By Chaka Khan. Truly amazing.

Emily hasnt done better than kate because ahhhh there in the same band at the moment but kates solo career fizzled out pretty fast. And as soon as all this young diva shit is over im sure she will be releasing her own album which by history and soon to be future will see her do better than the winner

A gold record only means selling 25 000 singles, which isnt alot. Kate De whateva her name is 1st single apparently went platinum which means selling 75 000 singles. She in fact only sold around 20 000, but because 75 thou were shipped she got a platinum record. So dont believe everything u read that sees these idols as fuckn successful. Damiens shit.

Damien being certified gold only shows how popular Australian Idol is. After having the show on for the last god-knows how long, and seeing the build up to the final, of course his wretched musical abortion is going to sell. Come back in a year or two and then we'll see how many REAL fans he has.

First of all, I must note, Damien's version of the song during the finale at the Opera house sounded so much better than the week before when he first sang it. Sounded so wrong the first time. Anyways, I liked it the second time. However, I agree with those who wanted Jessica to win. I was entranced the first time I heard her version of the single. But she didn't win. I hope it wasn't because of her aboriginality. I do still believe she has the most talent out of everyone this season.

Cant believe Damien won. Jess will shit all over him in good time. Every year the wrong person has won, Shannon should have won, anthony (although i voted for casey), emily and now Jess. A positive to all this is that the runner up has done a whole lot better. Shannons shat all over gay sebastian, as with anthony, and soon enough so will Jess

first- guy was better than shannon (no offence)
second. i wanted anthony to win too, then emily cause i didnt like kate deargo(cant spell it) and i didnt like damien. but, it doesnt mean he should go back to ireland.
but, have you realised that the runner's up have been more successful than the idols themselves eg shannon, anthony etc. . .

He's been married for three and a half years to his wife living in Australia, in the next six months he'll become an Australian citizen coz you have to be here for four years at least. By then will you be satisfied? Because he couldn't wait till next year to be an AUSTRALIAN coz then he'd miss out, because you can't be over thirty to enter.

I think it's great how we're not racsist and can accept a talented singer no matter what background or accent he has. Rather than linger on this race card talk ( I dont think that has anything to do with it anyway) congratulations to both of them for being able to make it to the Final 2. Some amazing talent coming out from Australia they both need the support from the public whether they won or not...outta here looking forward to next years contest! Thanks to Youtube I've been able to keep tabs on Aussie Idol here in NZ; so thank you to those that posted these online!!

Damien has a bigger vast range of style and it's about time we have someone who has such a great falsetto. Damien is a very good singer. But I personally wanted Lisa, Dean, Lavina or Reagan to be in the grand finals. Especially Lisa, she should've won the idol. Last year was the best because Kate won, though I voted for her a lot.

Both have fantastic voices and would have been deserving winners. At the end there were more people willing to pay to vote for Damien. The fact that Jessica got this far argues against the race card being played.

Damien was good and i wanted him to be in the final 2, but i thought Jess was better.Damien will not sell any tracks with that Oprah stuff he does, but Jess is hott, young and dynamic. plus she has come such a long way, hers would be a better success story!
