"The lonesome death of Jordy Verrel" is actually based on a terrefying 9 page short story called "Weeds" that King published in a magazine in 1976. It is avaliable for download on the internet. After reding the last 2 pages or so, you will never look at this segment or poor Jordy Verrel the same way again.

thank you so much for recommending "Weeds" the short story!!. i paused the video and read the whole thing and now i'm going to watch the movie. the short story was awesome. it ate him alive! man, there's no way i could deal with all that itching and burning. no way. good thing the tendrils helped him blow off some steam in the end, though :D
