if you grab the knife with your pinky and ring finger and pull it from the sheath with those two fingers as you extract the knife it will come from the sheath directly to a standard grip. at first it seems clumsy but with repetition you should be more comfortable with this approach.
yea.....my first cutlerylover's video was the smith & wesson's sharpening tool or box or something...i don't remember......it was like 9 months ago...
yeah, i've been looking at his knives on USN. i dig about 90% of them. the stuff he makes suits my style. clean, with a tough and unusual looks ,yet, they all seems very functional as a tool.for me,i dont think i'll ever find a better looking blade. this will be the most money i'd ever spend on a knife and it will be a keeper.
I absolutely agree. I did trade this blade, but it was a hard thing to let go. I think the only thing (as I say in the video) I disliked was a the sheath. It just wasn't designed well for how I wanted to use the knife. Throw up a picture of whatever you get on the USN! I love to see more of his stuff!
sure will. it'll take 3 weeks for him to make , probably 4-5 til it gets here. i probably wont heavily use it like my other EDC knives that i pull out 20+ times a day for may different tasks at work. so the sheath doesn't bother me as it will be my week end carry for SD use. in fact i like how it covers most of the blade. so it's less intimidating to others.
nope, not traditional tanto. The main cutting edge has the curve in the opposite direction. Nice review, but at $400 a pop, I'd worry about losing it.
Absolutely correct! However, the word Tanto only really means small blade. With that said I don't believe I've ever seen a Japanese blade with a recurve design. If anything they curve outwards (famous to their design). When I mentioned it I was really only referring to the tip anyway and how I find it silly that modern blades even use that word where the traditional Japanese design doesn't represent that tip style at all. Oh and this one isn't $400, that was just the range. Thanks!
I purchased it quite awhile ago so I can't recall the exact amount. His work will generally cost in the range of $200-$400 depending on what it is. I think there's a "necker" on cpfmarketplace right now if anyone would like to pick up something of his.
You said if we disagree with it being a traditional-style tanto to let you know.... well I totally agree but I felt like letting you know anyway. Love the reviews you do. They're very detailed and not really biased. Your opinions are actually legitimate rather than just not liking the look of something. Look forward to more.
hey thanks, I really appreciate that! I try not to be too "Fanboy" about stuff, but I'm sure there will be things that even my own bias will show in. Thanks again!

good point re the blade, I just don't like the handle covered. Personal preference of course and you make a good point about the sheeple.

Does this knifemaker have his own website?
Manny4155 3 years ago
He does not unfortunately. The best way to get in touch with him is on the USN.
