One thing I always wondered was why didn't 3 and 10 switch affiliation at 11pm that night after the primetime lineups. I know the networks switched right after Saturday Night Live ended for the last time on 3, perhaps the NBC affiliation contract over there was still in effect until 1am.
Not Really, Becaus of a Deal between CBS/Westinghouse and NBC which had CBS Handovered WCAU to NBC, and in Return NBC handovered KCNC in Denver ,KUTV in Salt Lake City and Miami's WTVJ's Transmitter (& Channel Number) to CBS/Westinghouse
then after all that KYW switched from NBC to CBS and became an CBS O&O in 1996
I was watching that night Final CBS Network program WCAU aired was the Walker Texas Rager Episode with Guest Star Haley Joel Osment as a Boy with HIV who Walker was helping.. Both Walker and the 11pm news started late because of sports programing on CBS. I think a syndacated Reun of the canadian cop show Night Heat ared between the News and the switch.
It felt weird( and kinda sad) because for so many years I known and watched this network as CBS 10. Eventually, I got use to it and the shows that came along with it. Also. The TV became more crisp and brighter when it switched over to NBC.
Little did John Bolaris know that 7 years later, CBS would be signing his paycheck again during his tenure at former sister station WCBS-TV in New York. Great to have him back here in PA on Fox 29.
Same with Siani Lee, who went over to CBS3. a few years later, but unlike Bolaris, she didn't have another 7 years. She was killed in a car accident in 2001.
It did. However KYW still had one program of NBC left to air, which was SNL. Thats why the switch officially took place at 1:00 AM instead of the more traditional time of midnight.

Wonder why WCAU didn't keep the old "10" logo. It would have looked pretty slick next to the Peacock.

I wonder was this the last pay week for all employees under CBS when they switch

In 1995, KYW (CBS 3, Philly) and WCAU (NBC 10, Philly) switched stations. KYW was on Ch. 10 and WCAU on Ch. 3. Now, KYW is Ch. 3 and WCAU is Ch. 10.

@mrm87 I think you mean CBS was on WCAU 10 and NBC was on KYW 3. Now they are CBS 3 and NBC 10.

So...how many people were soooooooooooooooo confused that they actually called that number for help?

I think KYW and WCAU both had about 800 calls logged on the day of the switch, from a news story I read.

I think this newscast aired after the final CBS program ever aired on WCAU TV, coverage of the US open tennis IIRC.
