Hey, I actually work at a Honda dealership, The Ridgeline is a ok truck for the average joe who wants something to haul the lightert stuff or smaller objects, but its still a unibody vehicle with a 4x4 system based off a front wheel drive drivetrain. No transfercase, no low range. As far as power goes it is snappy, but the fuel milage isnt much better than a full size chev or ford truck with the smaller v8's...
All you idiots don't realize that the avalanche is based on the ridgeline, gm bought out the designer so honda released it late to add more features like the inbed trung double funtion tailgate power rear window.... the only diference with the avalanche is that it sits higher and has a peice of shit gas guzzling v8 that will crap out long befor the honda.... all the domestics need to learn a lesson from honda to pump more power out of smaller engines E.X. 2.0L with 197 horse power

You do realize if someone put a lift and custom suspension on a ridgeline and bogging tires it has if not more capability then a domestic right? and American Truck? Last i heard American trucks arent the best Stock, Doesnt the Toyota Tundra have more stock horse power then any domestic?... Fuck your sister before i do, redneck piece of shit.
I have owned mostly Toyotas and two fords and the New Toyota is pathetic! For half ton the F-150 4x4 is hands down the best! check out you tube truck bed bounce Tundra and them tell me Toyota is all that. The tundra does have a great engine and brakes but the rest is poorly engineered.Just wait til you see the F-150 Rapture! And I am unbiased!
Yeah lets base a $25,000-35,000 Off a youtube video. I won't disagree that some people have had bed bounce issues but that video doesn't show you the inside of the beds before they run and also doesn't show accurate speed of which the trucks went over the moguls. Believe me, toyota will fix the bed bounce issue, thats small fry type stuff but ford won't fix their auto front hubs or their pain in the butt fuel injection system. Or there engine management. By the way, the Tundra is american
i have been selling chevys and jeeps for 2 years. i drove a honda ridgeline for a few days. it is what it is. Its not a hard core offroader like a jeep, but neither are the fullsize chevys. there just as low to the ground. its not a truck, its an crossover with the fuctionality of a truck, awd for bad weather, gets great gas milage and has a terrific ride. hondas smart because it appeals to the masses, and thats why they sell. id take one over a colorado any day
all I know is I'm buyin one, I know I'm not gonna be off road, the heaviest thing I might tow is my 3100 lb Late Model Stock Car on a fairly light open car trailer, but I have a GMC sierra 1500 for that duty, I love the concept of the urban pickup, I can go camping and all that with it, do chores around the house, but have a much more comfortable daily ride
if i recall right toyota and a certain driver got in trouble for using a special gas and some certain modifications to their car to keep up with the other nascar drivers i define that as poor engineering sorry to say but i dont see toyota honda or any other foregin car maker making it in nascar or any where else
that's cuz toyota makes performance engines and they cannot run on the shit that the rest of the pos trucks run...toyota had to engeneer a pushrod V8 just to match nascar regulations....if it cud use their own DOHC V8 with high octane it'll simply make fun of the rest of the american "competition".
sorry, but just cuz toyota is new to going back 60 years and making a crap pushrod v8 doesn't mean that their engeneering is behind...LOL
adamn shut up...ask motor trend truck of the year if its a truck buddy. Just because it rides smooth and gets good gas milage and isnt an american truck doesnt mean its not a truck. Waht else do expect from honda..they always add cool features
The honda ridgeline is not a truck by any means a truck is something that doesnt get good gas mileage doesnt ride like a car and doesnt have a space to store stuff in the bed what you are describing is a lifted up honda accord if you aint buying american get the hell out seriously dont fall for toyota and hondas made in america? may be put together here but where do you think the parts are made hmm....
adamh1987-approx 1/2 of American trucks and cars are made in Canada and Mexico.
Every NASCAR racecar (the model) are made in different countrys except the Toyota Camary!!!!
We have become a world economy. Just buy what you like and be glad the Japs are throwing us a bone and building a higher % of cars and trucks in the U. S. then American manufacturers are.
1st, just because Honda can engineer a truck that has more space, is more practical, can drive like a car and gets good gas millage dosen't mean its not a truck. GM, should stop depending on the "BUY AMERICAN" slogan because its not gonna cut it anymore. 2nd Check the Honda's lable, it tells you where they are made (USA) and where the parts are from. Most of the lables say 80% from USA 20% Japan. Its why better than a Chevy from Mexico.
the ridgeline doesent get good fuel economy, for a 3.5L V6 it gets 15 city 20 highway...look at other midsize trucks like for example a dodge dakota has a 4.7L V8 and gets 14 city and 20 highway, i dont really think they really targeted miles per gallon, and if u care about that so much and still want a pickup get a ranger
Must2000stang-you said get a Ford Ranger LOL! The Ranger makes an ok, cheap, little, first truck but it does not compare to the Honda in ANY category except mpg and thats with the 4cyl.
The Honda is not rated as a Midsize, it is a full size truck.
You need to do more research before you make stupid posts.
You get 20.8mpg empty on the highway and so does my 5.4 F150. I also have a 2001 Ford
F-350 Diesel with 37in tires that gets 17mpg.
The ridgeline is a great vehicle for someone who DOES NOT NEED a truck, but basically a midsize suv (honda pilot) with a bed. That being said my Lady wants one and I wouldn't at all mind driving the Honda. They make nice vehicles.
Ok first you are comparing a mid-sized truck to a FULL-sized truck. This just proves how efficent Honda is. With a 3.5l V6 they can produce 237hp. With Ford F-150's 4.6l V8 you get 231hp, Dodge has a 4.7l V8 w/ 230hp. So with 2 less and smaller cylinders Honda can produce more power. Lets take a Full truck from dodge, the Ram 1500. That gets an average of 12mpg! Its sad that Honda's Full-Sized tuck, is more efficeint than American Mid-sized, simply put... its better engineered.
Tell me why is the Ridgeline a full size truck? Isent its towing capacity 5,000 pounds? Iam not getting this argument about it being a full size truck. Just to give you an idea what some midsize-compact trucks pull
first of all chill out dude, all i did in my first comment was say the fuel economy isent that great i never said it was bad geez.. and no I still dont call it a full size :)
and i know the trucks i listed could have half the towing when not equipped but then it wouldent of been fair to compare a 14,000 dollar ranger to a 28,000 dollar ridgeline now would it? SO i got the towing capacity of a 22,000 dollar ranger :) and it still beat the ridgeline. Same for all the other trucks i listed
again find a post by me that shows me saying that the ridgeline sucks, because i never said that, this all started out because i stated that the fuel economy wasent that great, because people like you were bragging about it and i feel honda could of done better for such a light truck(1,000 lb lighter than f150) with a 3.5L v6
I dont know what up with you but i wouldent really call that a negative post, you have to learn how to accept a little criticism some day.
must2000stang - What kind of MPG do you think a full size truck should get before you are allowed to brag about it? and don't give me "it's not a full size truck"
Its also rated at 3/4 ton? I want to see this give me a link, and if this is true then lets start slapping 3/4 ton stickers on subaru baja's and dodge dakotas then!
the maximum payload of a well equipped ranger is up to 1660 lb does this make it a 3/4 ton truck? Just look at how trucks are rated these days, the f350 is a 1 ton truck, yet it has a max payload of 6000lb. The 1/2 3/4 and 1 payload ratings just dont apply to todays trucks.
must2000stank - One last point. Go to EPA's web site or Kelly blue book or any where else and see how they list the Ridgeline (FULL SIZE!) I guess you are right and the whole rest of the world is wrong.
THe ridgeline should not be compared to a full size pickup, its not built anything like them.
I just did a quick reference here but the wikipedia article on the ridgeline calls it a mid size crossover vehicle. Which I definately think fits this more.
The Ridgeline is considered a Full-Size truck baed on the Size of the truck, not how its built, not how much it can pull and not on its fuel econmomy. As a Pick-up truck it is practical, the ride is great and the design is eye-catching. This made the Ridgeline a truck of the year.
If I wanted a truck with great Towing capacity I'll get the Toyota Tundra.
Must2000stang - Is Wikipedia your only source for automotive information? I hope not!
With all the fantastic sources for truck info, why the online dictionary? Everyone from Honda to every truck article I read refer to the Honda as full size.Even the goverment classify the honda as full size (EPA, NHTSA..)
To argue whether or not the Ridgeline is rated full size is kind of like beating a dead horse.
Well pussy, if I had known you were looking for good MPG when shopping for a truck I would have not said a word...gosh you really put me in my place.
My Av is an '02 (5 years old for you dumb fucks) and it has NEVER broken down. Not once has it been in the shop for a repair or left me on the side of the road. I would help pull you're little toy out when you try to take it actually off roading though. I believe it's the job of the powerful to help the weak.
Chevy Silverado[with the engine ur tlkin bout] - 15 MPG
Ford - 14 - 15 MPG.
K? Dont ever thry to beat me. BC when im in my honda and ur in ur chevy and im passing by you bc ur truck is broken down ill just honk and laugh. =] FUCK WITH ME NOW.
Well us dumb ass hillbilies don't understand why anyone one would want a piece of shit wannabe truck. I suspect you use a butter knife as a screw driver too.
Get over yourself. If you like this thing just say it, why do you have to try to compair it to actual trucks?
I never put Honda down, just this goofy mini Avalanche wannabe. Honda should have just called it the Hondalanche.
vaavalanche - You must be one angry asshole with a tiny dick, bashing other peoples vehicles. I can't imagine watching Chevy, Jeep or Ford videos and then posting what pieces of shit they are. Get a life! Loser!
bmwoilhead - Of course you wouldn't, because there's nothing bad to be said about them. Well nothing but the fact they get about 5-7MPG worse than this toy.
vaavalanche - I have nothing bad to say about the Avalanche, But Consumer reports (OWNERS OPINONS) & Consumer Guide (journalist opinions) Rate the Avalanche POOR in driveability - Poor in owner satisfaction (even Avalanche owners hate there trucks lol) and fair in dependability. Honda Ridgeline got excellent in all catagories. Sounds like you drive a piece of crap LOL.
butter knife as a screwdriver? hahaha man you need to check your ego, buying a big truck with a big engine does not make you a bigger guy...rofl.
and if you think that the ridgeline is weak, i beg to differ, i think that tough things last longer than weak things, so by that logic the honda ridgeline is tougher than the rest of the cardboard frame big trucks...simple isn't it...lol
You dumb ass hillbillies just don't get it do you? Even the TV ad (not following the herd) is telling you it is not trying to be like all the other trucks. It is made for people who either do not want a truck, or for people like me who are sick of driving trucks. The Ridgeline rides like a luxury car and drives like a sports car. It tows my 3500# boat with no problems and gets 20mpg. If you need a full size truck, I respect that but do not put down the Honda for what it is.
that thing is fucking hilarious.. has anyone looked at the rear suspension on one of those?? jeezus christ i wouldnt wanna tow ANYTHING with it! let alone load the trunk with firewood! what were they thinking!! oh by the way, that is not "offroad" that is nothing more than a puddle.. give me 5 minutes with that hot wheels toy and it would never move again. although it is a very cute car!
I surf fish every weekend and every weekend I pull Fords, Chevys and Dodges out of the sand with my Honda. I never had to pull out a Jap truck. Why are Jap trucks so much better in the sand? Anyone know?
Lol hey man I might be a mud pluggin, gun-tote'n, terbacker' chewin' nascar luvin redneck, But I'll take my Toyota t100 anyday over anything else. You wouldn't believe the shit my t100 has been through and we just passed 220,000 miles the other day. She is covered in mud and cow shit most of the time and is lucky to get her oil changed every 7000 miles but she pulls many fords, dodges, and chevys back home to there shops to get worked on. or out of the ditch when their 4wd doesn't work.
I love ridgelines i have an 06 rtl and well to put it simple there are no in between people when it comes to if you like them or not. You either do or dont. Considering they have the Vtec 3.5 6l engine and plenty of room and cargo space with the extra trunk in the back makes for one bad ass machine. I respect the people that go for the hardcore offroad look but ill stick to going street show.
HONDA BEATS CHEVY FORD AND DODGE fair and square. Proof? Watch the video. And maybe drive one b4 u criticize it. i drove an avalanche and a ridgeline and the avalanche seemed VERY underpowered. yeah i liked it so im not gunna frikin post SHIT about it on every video of it. im not at all. so leave honda alone. cuz they have customers who love them. and i wanna know who told u dumbasses that honda lost sales off the ridgeline? it gained. SUCK ON THAT. =p and go H0NDA
I don't think city slickers care about off-roading, ground clearance, or power. That's the sad truth. Most average joes don't like to have fun with their car or truck.
That's why Honda made the Ridgeline, for those city slickers that don't know what a "real" truck is used for. My family is fully satisfied with it. It's a dam family truck.
Would you rather have an average joe slapping on "dem pimp 22's" on an Avalanche w/ Z71 off-road package, or would you rather have an average joe doing the same [slapping on "pimp 22's"] on the Ridgeline??? I'd rather see the Ridgeline be uglifed since it can't really off-road in the first place.....
If one is comparing it to the competition, the Ridgeline seems to be the worst. But, yeah, it can do SOME off-roading. My dad once had to cross a rocky, dip that had a grade of about 30 on the approach, and the departure at about 25. Despite being something any "real" truck could cross, I was impressed. BTW, I don't think it has much ground clearance.....
2) I totally forgot about the VTM-4, and I ride in one everyday, wtf, LOL
3) The fully independent suspension isn't the best choice for "real" off-roading, but it's good enough for my dad. A solid axle is best for off-roading, in most cases.
4) I already said, I wasn't impressed by its ground clearance.
5) I saw the engine curve and was shocked. The torque is ALL OVER the RPMs!
6) I think the story I posted might confirm that.....
In a true offroad environment you'll snap ifs or irs quick when its under torque. Irs might keep contact with the ground better but the axles shaft geometry just sucks pond water, If you were to real stuff it hard and have to get on the power in a low range 4wd you will just snap the axle crawl underneath the rearend and actually look at how tiny the ifs shaft is. and size doesn't always matter I suppose but the geometry of to cv joints getting in a bind and than snapping does.
my 87 yoda with 265000 on her was a machine off road , real off road not like this video a little puddle I talkin rivers, lakes, real mud holes beat the living shit out of its IFS never changed anything just brakes and a battery in 9 yrs
I am a fan of the H-1 too, but the H-1s limiting factor is the limited wheel travel, and it could be improved! I love a fully independent suspension truck if it has lots of wheel travel. it's just that this ridgeline has almost the same wheel travel as an Accord.
whoever puts down ridgelines never has driven one. the truck is fucking sick and can pull an f250 out of a big pile of snow when it is stuck not to mention the power and comfort
Id rather have this Ridgeline than any Ford or Chevy POS. Who gives a shit if it doesn't tow 9000 pounds, it is more reliable and will be worth a lot more down the road.
The average consumer that buys a truck doesn't even tow 9,000 pounds! Trucks like the F-350, F-450, etc are meant for Heavy Duty companies that make millions.
people need to get they're priorities correct, this is not a work truck! Not everyone needs a Cummins engine because they have to tow massive trailers everywhere. This truck will be perfect for people who do some outdoor activities, or just need a little more utility then a SUV for home projects and uses.

1) this Honda will last longer than any fucking Dodge out there (Dodge+transmissions=SHIT)!
2) unsafe p.o.s.??? Highway Traffic & Safety give it the best rating than any truck on the market.
3) for some people who talk shit about em and list incorrect info too, get your fucking research done so you can back yourself up dumbass.
4) Ridgeline= safe, affordable, spacious, AWD with VTM-4, VTEC engine, a trunk, and rated by many vehicle critics as a top pick?? C'mon!

Its not a hard core offroader like a jeep, but neither are the fullsize chevys. there just as low to the ground. its not a truck, its an crossover with the fuctionality of a truck, awd for bad weather, gets great gas milage and has a terrific ride. hondas smart because it appeals to the masses, and thats why they sell. id take one over a colorado any day

all I know is I'm buyin one, I know I'm not gonna be off road, the heaviest thing I might tow is my 3100 lb Late Model Stock Car on a fairly light open car trailer, but I have a GMC sierra 1500 for that duty, I love the concept of the urban pickup, I can go camping and all that with it, do chores around the house, but have a much more comfortable daily ride

if i recall right toyota and a certain driver got in trouble for using a special gas and some certain modifications to their car to keep up with the other nascar drivers i define that as poor engineering sorry to say but i dont see toyota honda or any other foregin car maker making it in nascar or any where else
adamh1987 4 years ago
WTF? I could care less how Toyota does in NASCAR. I was talking about world economy and found the whole NASCAR thing a funny and interesting example.
bmwoilhead 4 years ago
that's cuz toyota makes performance engines and they cannot run on the shit that the rest of the pos trucks run...toyota had to engeneer a pushrod V8 just to match nascar regulations....if it cud use their own DOHC V8 with high octane it'll simply make fun of the rest of the american "competition".
sorry, but just cuz toyota is new to going back 60 years and making a crap pushrod v8 doesn't mean that their engeneering is behind...LOL
VinceThe123456 3 years ago
u obviously dont know anything.. thats a HONDA ridgeline, not a toyota.
mistamikey123455 3 years ago
adamn shut up...ask motor trend truck of the year if its a truck buddy. Just because it rides smooth and gets good gas milage and isnt an american truck doesnt mean its not a truck. Waht else do expect from honda..they always add cool features
Jsnx203 4 years ago
The honda ridgeline is not a truck by any means a truck is something that doesnt get good gas mileage doesnt ride like a car and doesnt have a space to store stuff in the bed what you are describing is a lifted up honda accord if you aint buying american get the hell out seriously dont fall for toyota and hondas made in america? may be put together here but where do you think the parts are made hmm....
adamh1987 4 years ago
adamh1987-approx 1/2 of American trucks and cars are made in Canada and Mexico.
Every NASCAR racecar (the model) are made in different countrys except the Toyota Camary!!!!
We have become a world economy. Just buy what you like and be glad the Japs are throwing us a bone and building a higher % of cars and trucks in the U. S. then American manufacturers are.
bmwoilhead 4 years ago
1st, just because Honda can engineer a truck that has more space, is more practical, can drive like a car and gets good gas millage dosen't mean its not a truck. GM, should stop depending on the "BUY AMERICAN" slogan because its not gonna cut it anymore. 2nd Check the Honda's lable, it tells you where they are made (USA) and where the parts are from. Most of the lables say 80% from USA 20% Japan. Its why better than a Chevy from Mexico.
iono101 4 years ago
the ridgeline doesent get good fuel economy, for a 3.5L V6 it gets 15 city 20 highway...look at other midsize trucks like for example a dodge dakota has a 4.7L V8 and gets 14 city and 20 highway, i dont really think they really targeted miles per gallon, and if u care about that so much and still want a pickup get a ranger
must2000stang 4 years ago
Must2000stang-you said get a Ford Ranger LOL! The Ranger makes an ok, cheap, little, first truck but it does not compare to the Honda in ANY category except mpg and thats with the 4cyl.
The Honda is not rated as a Midsize, it is a full size truck.
You need to do more research before you make stupid posts.
FYI - I average 20.8 MPG with my 2006 Ridgeline.
bmwoilhead 4 years ago
You get 20.8mpg empty on the highway and so does my 5.4 F150. I also have a 2001 Ford
F-350 Diesel with 37in tires that gets 17mpg.
The ridgeline is a great vehicle for someone who DOES NOT NEED a truck, but basically a midsize suv (honda pilot) with a bed. That being said my Lady wants one and I wouldn't at all mind driving the Honda. They make nice vehicles.

My03Tundra 4 years ago 2
Ok first you are comparing a mid-sized truck to a FULL-sized truck. This just proves how efficent Honda is. With a 3.5l V6 they can produce 237hp. With Ford F-150's 4.6l V8 you get 231hp, Dodge has a 4.7l V8 w/ 230hp. So with 2 less and smaller cylinders Honda can produce more power. Lets take a Full truck from dodge, the Ram 1500. That gets an average of 12mpg! Its sad that Honda's Full-Sized tuck, is more efficeint than American Mid-sized, simply put... its better engineered.
iono101 4 years ago
Tell me why is the Ridgeline a full size truck? Isent its towing capacity 5,000 pounds? Iam not getting this argument about it being a full size truck. Just to give you an idea what some midsize-compact trucks pull
Dodge Dakota- 7150 lb
Nissan Frontier- 6500 lb
Toyota Tacoma- 6500 lb
Ford Ranger- 5980 lb
Dodge Dakota- 4250 lb
Chevy Colorado- 4000 lb
must2000stang 4 years ago
must2000stank-You really are a dumb ass. What does the towing capacity have to do with the size of the truck???
Some of those same trucks you listed have 1/2 the towing capacity of the Honda when they are not equipped for towing.
I had a 4'x 8' sheet of drywall laying flat (between the wheel wells) in the back of my Ridgeline. Try that, in any of the other trucks you listed.
bmwoilhead 4 years ago
first of all chill out dude, all i did in my first comment was say the fuel economy isent that great i never said it was bad geez.. and no I still dont call it a full size :)
and i know the trucks i listed could have half the towing when not equipped but then it wouldent of been fair to compare a 14,000 dollar ranger to a 28,000 dollar ridgeline now would it? SO i got the towing capacity of a 22,000 dollar ranger :) and it still beat the ridgeline. Same for all the other trucks i listed
must2000stang 4 years ago
must2000stang - You ask me to chill out, but if you come to A Honda video and put up a negative post you need to be ready to take some abuse.
Anyone ever post crap on a Mustang video?
bmwoilhead 4 years ago
again find a post by me that shows me saying that the ridgeline sucks, because i never said that, this all started out because i stated that the fuel economy wasent that great, because people like you were bragging about it and i feel honda could of done better for such a light truck(1,000 lb lighter than f150) with a 3.5L v6
I dont know what up with you but i wouldent really call that a negative post, you have to learn how to accept a little criticism some day.
must2000stang 4 years ago
must2000stang - What kind of MPG do you think a full size truck should get before you are allowed to brag about it? and don't give me "it's not a full size truck"
bmwoilhead 4 years ago
Honda markets the ridgeline as a mid-sized truck against the dakota and tacoma. Not a fullsized against tundra,f150 etc.
By the way, anyone who thinks an h1 is the ultimate 4x4 needs to quit huffin duster and snortin their smarties

If you need to tow more then 5000# then of course you would look at a different truck but for the rest of us the Ridgeline is the perfect truck.
Oh and by the way the little Honda is also rated 3/4 ton!
bmwoilhead 4 years ago
Its also rated at 3/4 ton? I want to see this give me a link, and if this is true then lets start slapping 3/4 ton stickers on subaru baja's and dodge dakotas then!
must2000stang 4 years ago
The load capacity for the Ridgeline is 1558# does that not make it 3/4 ton? You can find that info just about anywhere except maybe Wikipedia.
bmwoilhead 4 years ago
the maximum payload of a well equipped ranger is up to 1660 lb does this make it a 3/4 ton truck? Just look at how trucks are rated these days, the f350 is a 1 ton truck, yet it has a max payload of 6000lb. The 1/2 3/4 and 1 payload ratings just dont apply to todays trucks.
must2000stang 4 years ago
must2000stank - One last point. Go to EPA's web site or Kelly blue book or any where else and see how they list the Ridgeline (FULL SIZE!) I guess you are right and the whole rest of the world is wrong.
bmwoilhead 4 years ago
THe ridgeline should not be compared to a full size pickup, its not built anything like them.
I just did a quick reference here but the wikipedia article on the ridgeline calls it a mid size crossover vehicle. Which I definately think fits this more.
must2000stang 4 years ago
The Ridgeline is considered a Full-Size truck baed on the Size of the truck, not how its built, not how much it can pull and not on its fuel econmomy. As a Pick-up truck it is practical, the ride is great and the design is eye-catching. This made the Ridgeline a truck of the year.
If I wanted a truck with great Towing capacity I'll get the Toyota Tundra.
iono101 4 years ago
Must2000stang - Is Wikipedia your only source for automotive information? I hope not!
With all the fantastic sources for truck info, why the online dictionary? Everyone from Honda to every truck article I read refer to the Honda as full size.Even the goverment classify the honda as full size (EPA, NHTSA..)
To argue whether or not the Ridgeline is rated full size is kind of like beating a dead horse.

vaavalanche - I have nothing bad to say about the Avalanche, But Consumer reports (OWNERS OPINONS) & Consumer Guide (journalist opinions) Rate the Avalanche POOR in driveability - Poor in owner satisfaction (even Avalanche owners hate there trucks lol) and fair in dependability. Honda Ridgeline got excellent in all catagories. Sounds like you drive a piece of crap LOL.
bmwoilhead 4 years ago
butter knife as a screwdriver? hahaha man you need to check your ego, buying a big truck with a big engine does not make you a bigger guy...rofl.
and if you think that the ridgeline is weak, i beg to differ, i think that tough things last longer than weak things, so by that logic the honda ridgeline is tougher than the rest of the cardboard frame big trucks...simple isn't it...lol
VinceThe123456 3 years ago
You dumb ass hillbillies just don't get it do you? Even the TV ad (not following the herd) is telling you it is not trying to be like all the other trucks. It is made for people who either do not want a truck, or for people like me who are sick of driving trucks. The Ridgeline rides like a luxury car and drives like a sports car. It tows my 3500# boat with no problems and gets 20mpg. If you need a full size truck, I respect that but do not put down the Honda for what it is.
bmwoilhead 4 years ago
that thing is fucking hilarious.. has anyone looked at the rear suspension on one of those?? jeezus christ i wouldnt wanna tow ANYTHING with it! let alone load the trunk with firewood! what were they thinking!! oh by the way, that is not "offroad" that is nothing more than a puddle.. give me 5 minutes with that hot wheels toy and it would never move again. although it is a very cute car!

LongLiveEthan 4 years ago
"HONDA BEATS CHEVY FORD AND DODGE fair and square" REALLY...LET'S SEE
Honda - 247HP - 245lb Tq - 5,000lbs Towing - no other engine options
Chevy - 320HP - 340lbs Tq 8,200lbs Towing or choose the diesel option (Silverado) and those numbers are
360HP - 660lbs Tq - 13,000 Towing
Ford 300HP - 365lbs Tq - 9,500 Towing or upgrade to diesel Super Duty 325HP - 375lbs Tq - 15,000 Towing.
The ridgline is a cute toy for anyone who thinks the puddle this video is showing is actual off roading.
vaavalanche 4 years ago
I don't think city slickers care about off-roading, ground clearance, or power. That's the sad truth. Most average joes don't like to have fun with their car or truck.
That's why Honda made the Ridgeline, for those city slickers that don't know what a "real" truck is used for. My family is fully satisfied with it. It's a dam family truck.
AWDfreak 4 years ago
It [the Honda Ridgeline] contains:
* no manual transmission
* not much ground clearance
* no low gear
* no 4WD, just "AWD". Can't manually switch to 2WD or 4WD
* no real towing capabilities compared to its rivals
BUT, people [average joes] still love it because it's what they need, not what they don't need. Sadly, most people don't need off-roading :(
AWDfreak 4 years ago
Would you rather have an average joe slapping on "dem pimp 22's" on an Avalanche w/ Z71 off-road package, or would you rather have an average joe doing the same [slapping on "pimp 22's"] on the Ridgeline??? I'd rather see the Ridgeline be uglifed since it can't really off-road in the first place.....
AWDfreak 4 years ago
Is the Honda Ridgeline a true offroader?
If you are into rock climbing competition maybe not, But for the other 99.9% it makes a great off road truck.
1 - Very low first gear
2 - Locking differential(s)
3 - Fully independent front and rear suspension
4 - Good ground clearance
5 - Great engine torque thru all rpm's
6 - Impressive entry and departure angles
bmwoilhead 4 years ago
If one is comparing it to the competition, the Ridgeline seems to be the worst. But, yeah, it can do SOME off-roading. My dad once had to cross a rocky, dip that had a grade of about 30 on the approach, and the departure at about 25. Despite being something any "real" truck could cross, I was impressed. BTW, I don't think it has much ground clearance.....
AWDfreak 4 years ago
1) I guess it's low
2) I totally forgot about the VTM-4, and I ride in one everyday, wtf, LOL
3) The fully independent suspension isn't the best choice for "real" off-roading, but it's good enough for my dad. A solid axle is best for off-roading, in most cases.
4) I already said, I wasn't impressed by its ground clearance.
5) I saw the engine curve and was shocked. The torque is ALL OVER the RPMs!
6) I think the story I posted might confirm that.....
AWDfreak 4 years ago
One point I disagree. Fully independent suspension is the hot set up for off road.
All 4X4 racing trucks remove the solid rear axle and put in an IRS.
IRS gives you more of an ability to keep all four wheels on the ground, where you want them.
Also, Rally cars, same idea.
I think that the unlimited class (full mod.) rock climbers even use IRS.
bmwoilhead 4 years ago
How the hell could I forget the racing trucks (most especially the CORR trucks)?!?!
I guess the best use for a solid axle suspension is for rockclimbing.....
AWDfreak 4 years ago
yeah look at teh hummer H1, the Range Rover, the Toureg, the Cayeanne (spelling). They are all crazy off roaders and all hav IRS
Doubledee90 4 years ago
In a true offroad environment you'll snap ifs or irs quick when its under torque. Irs might keep contact with the ground better but the axles shaft geometry just sucks pond water, If you were to real stuff it hard and have to get on the power in a low range 4wd you will just snap the axle crawl underneath the rearend and actually look at how tiny the ifs shaft is. and size doesn't always matter I suppose but the geometry of to cv joints getting in a bind and than snapping does.

I get the point already... Live axles are better for rock-crawling.....
AWDfreak 3 years ago
I am a fan of the H-1 too, but the H-1s limiting factor is the limited wheel travel, and it could be improved! I love a fully independent suspension truck if it has lots of wheel travel. it's just that this ridgeline has almost the same wheel travel as an Accord.
