Not sure why a bunch of you assholes are talking shit on Mike Browning. I'll give you three reasons why I respect the guy. #1: Incubus 'God Died On His Knees' demo #2: Morbid Angel 'Abominations of Desolation' and #3: Nocturnus' 'The Key' as well as their prior demos.
@SuperRocker2112 All Magick and Occultism really deals with is altered staes of conciousness and attaining higher states of awareness... I dont really see why that would be a joke lol
I've always seen this guy hangin out at metal shows talking about "majic or the occult" and trying to suck up to everybody. As far as drumming or actual music skills? NOT!
@Utahsnowboard1 I dont really think your in any position to criticise Mike Brown dude, the guy is a legend. Also, why would Mike be sucking up to nobodies? Surely that would be the other way round?? Im calling BS on your little tales.
@asturel13 Just because you hang out at all the local shows and try to be friends with everybody does'nt make you a legend, cmon thats pathetic already
This guy is one of my biggest influences ever! One of my fave vocalists/drummers! I'm proud that years ago I was part of a band t he was involved with; Lethal Prayer!
I've been a metal head since 1970 and heard everything under the sun, and Nocturnus /The Key was for me one of the most intense band/ album I've ever felt. there was so much creativity and raw musical beauty . mike browning was the spirit of nocturnus, the day they screwed him over was the day that they lost a great band.
singing and drumming simultaneously for death metal is hard as hell, this is really impressive stuff. is there a video for Droid Sector on here anywhere?
Not only is Browning a solid drummer, but he's a damn good death metal vocalist. Nocturnus are my favorite band, but I think one of their bigger mistakes as a band was having Dan Izzo take over on vocals. I think Browning's voice was much more fitting for Nocturnus' haunting, sci-fi sound. It's more distinguished.
Thats what browning says to. ALOT of bad blood between Morbid, Nocturnus and they other one (the never named 'A' one)...I think he is a bit like dave mustaine, 'good composer, and player' but not so easy to work with. Correct me if i am wrong, but i think he made the splits in his former bands.
They're not around anymore. They started in 1987, broke up in 1988 and came back the same year, broke up in 1993, came back 2000, and broke up for good in 2002.
i really respect Mike Browing, but i'm not sure that he was the real composer in Nocturnus best riffs...

Mike Browning isn't a bad drummer, but he is an even better vocalist. Just one listen to his work on Abominations of Desolation is enough evidence.

Not a bad lyricist but a very good composer as well. check out his latest band After Death.
