Black Metal is an acquired taste for a lot of people. At first, I didn't like it. I kinda had to build my way up from thrash metal, to death metal, to black metal.

I began to enjoy the raw intensity of it. And there's something about the droning sound in a lot of songs that I just like.

Don't get me wrong I love melodic stuff too, and I get why it's hard to get into black metal. I just thought I'd share

@nighthawk41 i couldn't have explained that batter myself, Carpathian forest was one of the bands that got me into BM, i know cause i jacked this CD, "Morbid Fascination of Death" , from my friend. I agree, that black metal is surely an acquired taste, and there isn't anything to the music really, just simple chords and simple drum patterns, but there is something that very eluding about that more ambient sound like Carpathian Forest, but also i like more orchestral shit like Cradle of filth
