  • @dogcheeseteddy In 20 years time you will be having this exact same conversation. Except you'll be playing the role of dravenousone and Beiber will be the respected classic artist.

  • @dogcheeseteddy Thanks for proving my point.

  • @dogcheeseteddy It's not about age, it's about maturity and understanding of music. Obviously you have neither.

Come back when you grow up.

  • @dogcheeseteddy if you don't like it, fine, just go back to your Justin Beiber crap and leave the music without AutoTune alone.

  • Three Dog Night one of the best groups

  • from back in the day when there was AM radio and only FM converters, transistor radios ,not very many hatefull people,no drive bys, and the rest of the shit that is going on now !!!!! so for the future maybe if try we might find love and peace again but till that happens /// let us slow down and revisit the great harmony of the days gone by!!!

  • This is one of favorites of Three Dog Night. Thank God for YouTube Music!

  • Nice song, but 0:32-41 reminds me of the solo in Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite (Beatles) 1:16-22.

  • BastuGrabben bribed 18 people.

  • Does anyone remember this tune being in the movie "Go Ask Alice." I think it's playing on the radio while Alice is just hangin' out in her room. Or am I crazy? Either way it's the best harmony rock tune Ever !!

  • Three dog night was supposed to have gotten their name from an old story about Indiginous Australians who were forced to sleep with a dog to keep themselves warm....this group had three...do the math. lol

  • Chuck Negron was my dad's college roommate at Alan Hancock.

  • Great memories:)

  • Boy for the good ole days!!!

  • I love the eerie feeling when it starts great music!

  • @nobody123456891011 That is my favorite part I love the organ at the beginning. What great memories it brings from my past.

  • Three Dog Night - for me that describes the three girls I dated between 1970-1972...i could only deal with those faces in the dark

  • three dog night was the band of the early 70's, and have to be considered one of rock n roll's all time favorite bands.

  • from 1970 to 1975 three dog night, had it.they have to be concidered one of the all time faveorite bands of the 70's

  • God this song reminds me of the day when i was being sodomized by my teacher 'preacher at Sunday school. God those were the good ole days.

  • does anyone know what the back-ground singer is saying???

It totally captivates me when i hear this song but i dont know what he is saying....

  • "An Old Fashioned Love Song" is the title of a 1971 song by the American pop-rock band Three Dog Night. Taken as the lead single from their 1971 album Harmony, the song peaked at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in December 1971, becoming the band's seventh Top 10 hit.

  • Great harmony! WTF every happened to great music like this?

  • @CHRISEVENS i know, they never play music like this now

  • @CHRISEVENS record companies wanting to save money so they rather go for stars that "looked" like stars and paid less attention to lyrical content. Companies want hit songs not albums like back in the day. Zeppelin made their records album based and not for hit songs. I don't know if that make sense to you. In other words, artist crafted their album accordingly without a rush to put something out. Artist also had time to gel with each other so they would be in unison.

  • @CHRISEVENS No one knows how to sing like this anymore. Sad. Cool song.

  • @CHRISEVENS I like old music, I like almost all music. They need to play more of everything, not just the same fucking 5 hits over and over

  • @CHRISEVENS because singers and entertainers (can't call them artists) are lazy and it is so rare and refreshing to hear such good music that we have to go back to old school for something this beautiful.

  • @CHRISEVENS They've become increasingly rare due to all that easy money from the unappreciative tone deaf audiences being handed over to the auto-tuned (c) rap artists.

  • @CHRISEVENS Well in my area at least, since we're west of the Mississippi, It's gone Right straight to the local Indian Casino.

  • @CHRISEVENS Two words.

    Justin Bieber

  • @MayThereBePivot i hate justin bieber why are you bringing him up

  • @1princess62 Hmm...not quite sure, but it will be the last time i mention ******* ******.

    Sorry bout that :P

  • @CHRISEVENS It is one of a kind and not to be copied again, that's why it's called a classic. :) A symbol of the times.

  • @CHRISEVENS

Same thing that happened to every thing else that was pure and decent in this country. Fucking corporations own it all, and the next brain-dead generation of zombie consumers, buy it all - hook, line, and sinker.

  • @CHRISEVENS RAP

  • @CHRISEVENS Justin Beiber ruined it

  • This song is so awesome!

  • my all-time favourite three dog night song

  • This was the first song I ever danced to at a prty with a boy. 7th grade, 1973. Jeff Jones, if you're still out there, thanks for the dance.♥

  • One of the greatest groups ever, to not be in the Rock In Roll hall of fame.

  • Yes, they and E Street Band

  • i got my harmony album autographed last summer...

  • My third favorite of Three Dog Night.

  • Thanks for posting, when I was about 12, we used to visit my aunt in Dayton Ohio. My cousin who was older had this album, along with a really cool beer can collection. I thought he was so cool, and I loved Three Dog Night!!!

  • This is just a classic and a great video

  • found this 8-track in grandpas truck 1971 right after a tour viet nam

  • Late 60's early 70's music must have really helped the soldiers during the turbulent times in vietnam or at least something to keep the mind at ease even just for a bit?

  • God this song takes me back to grade school. This song was playing at a dance at my summer camp....what memories. Thank you 3DN

  • You do sound like a cheese puff aaahelen, but I agree with your assessment of the song.

  • No one could write 'em like Paul Williams, and no one could sing 'em like three Dog Night!

  • so true do you know the name of the band member who died from drug abuse ?was he the lead singer??

  • This song is hauntingly beatiful.. I dont mean to sound like a cheese puff but it's true.

  • @tutu148368 According to MY profile, or someone else's? I don't recall putting an age in my profie (or even having one, to be honest).. Trust me, I am above 24.

  • This is one of the best songs that 3DN ever did. What a shame that the video is the same 4 or 5 pictures played over and over. 3DN and YouTube viewers deserve better than this.

  • Twit? Why do you say that? Was there something in my comment that offended you? I meant no offense to anyone. I'm sorry if you took it that way.

  • God bless all ya kidos, I REMEMBER THIS & ALL THEIR TUNES, when Danny first played on the Loyd thaxton show in

    65 doin 'ROSES & RAINBOWS" !!!!

    TIM//TIAPROMO

  • i remember seeing them live when i was little....this is the only song i remember them playing.

  • Reminds me of riding the bus, while my mom smoked

  • I remember when you could smoke in department stores and they had ashtrays in the ladies dressing rooms.

  • you used the 4 generic sample pictures from the sample picture file. very clever.

  • i got a copy of a live preformance on vinyl record

  • Paul Williams wrote this and Chuck Negron sings it. Chuck has a solo act now and his stepson Berry Oakley sings harmony along with the band. Danny and Cory still do this song; it's not one of the hard songs Chuck did. Michael Allsup (guitar) and Jimmy Greenspoon (organ) still play with them. They are the ones you hear playing here.

This song was preformed by TDN on TV before the record came out.

  • Pure *classic* and my ALL-TIME UBER-MEGA RAVE-FAVE in ALL of the 3 Dog Night repertoire....

    Thanx, m8..

  • Thanks for sharing.Keep coming back

  • Hand me a fresh beer, throw the poptop out the window, pass the J and crank it up! (Then we would all sing very loudly and very badly)

  • Just an old-fashioned love song playin' on the radio And wrapped around the music is the sound Of someone promising they'll never go You swear you've heard it before As it slowly rambles on No need in bringin' `em back, `Cause they're never really gone Just an old-fashioned love song One I'm sure they wrote for you and me Just an old-fashioned love song Comin' down in 3-part harmony
  • Wonderful lyrics and an awesome time for music. Growing up in the seventies was the best!

  • I was a sophomore in college in KC and WHB 710 am used to play this with their Top 40 hits. I had to buy the album and thats all that was on the turntable for a month.

  • going to see TDN on 02-06-09, hope they do this song. Great tune

  • Im jealous...I bet they were great.

  • Why does it seem to come to an end at 3:33 then come back?

  • It's the weirdest thing. Alot of songs did this in the 70s. I'm not sure why, but I do know that it confused the hell out of DJs when each song came out. They'd start talking, then the music would come back on.

  • Weird, the version I always listened to by Three Dog Night never did this.

  • This is a msg. from the old souls. I used to listen radio WLS. 1969 frozen winter/i was a teen

  • what is a msg?

  • It is the stuff they put into crappy Chinese food to make it taste good.
