  • What the hell are you serious ? Global warming is real and there is a crisis ! Do your homework !

  • there is no crisis

  • Do not give any money to this person. Cathy Zoi has has been send emails asking for money. All money goes right in her personal bank account . this is a bogus orginaztion and a bogus website

  • interesting,hope it happens!

  • Great ad. I really think anything is possible, if we can go to the moon and create clones.

Switching to 100% renewable won't be difficult. Seriously, our planet is everything, why wouldnt we want to preserve it?

The only issue would be telling all those oil and coal tycoon people "sorry, no more money for you".

That'll be hard for them to deal...because how could they ever survive with only billions of dollars in the bank?

(I was being sarcastic with my last statement)

  • You provide a perfect example of someone who is completely ignorant of science (and fairly poor grasp of economics as well).

Think about it for just a moment; how many petroleum-powered vehicles exist. How will you go about replacing every single one of these cars with a renewable energy source within a decade? This isn't just replacing gasoline with CNG, which would be difficult enough, but replacing it with hydrogen (remember the Hindenburg?) or lithium ion batteries.

  • On top of that would be the infrastructure changes that would need to be made.

It's not completely impossible that the US could NEVER be on 100% renewable energy, but to place a 10-year timeframe on it is a mere flight of fantasy.

Also, the moonshot analogy is a hallmark of ignorance. There is a considerable difference between a simple engineering problem (landing on the moon) and a nationwide overhaul of the energy infrastructure.

  • "You provide a perfect example of someone who is completely ignorant of science "

    What's your degree in?

    "Remember the Hindenburg?"

Sounds like you need to do a little study on fuel cells.

America totally re-geared it's manufacturing and economic focus post Pearl Harbour. Where there's a will, there's a way. Yes, the goal is difficult and yes there is a risk of failure so "no", you'll give up? Any patriot would support this initiative against this new enemy. The US has lots of work to do.

  • BS in Chemical Engineering -- from the #1 undergrad program in the US.

I know all about fuel cells. Replacing every gasoline-powered car in the country is nothing like the moonshot or even retooling tractor and automobile factories to make tanks and planes.

  • "I know all about fuel cells." ALL about?

Anyway, you probably need to talk to the guys at Mercedes Benz re their Hydrogen cell vehicle/s which are set for production next year. I know Germany has a bad track record with hydrogen :oP but I seriously doubt that they wouldn't have overcome safety concerns with these vehicles.

As for a 10 year time frame. Agreed that it's very ambitious, but there's no choice but to move on it.

  • I still think you need to do a little study in fuel cells and as grrlscientist suggests have a chat to the good folk at Mercedes Benz.

So the goal is difficult. Are you going to just roll over then? You're lucky to live in a country which is even willing to debate this. In Australia most "leaders" have their heads up their asses on this issue.

  • Fuel cells have horrible mileage.

Most hydrogen fueling stations are in industrial zones -- away from where most people live.

Electrolysis -- running an electrical current through water with a positive and negative node to seperate hydrogen from oxygen -- consumes more energy that burning the hydrogen generates. First Law of Thermodynamics.

An alternative energy source for automobiles that is actually feasible, though not in 10 years, is lithium ion batteries.

  • It's impossible to convince these fanatics that hydrogen is nothing more than an energy sink.

  • Does Repower America also have designs for a perpetual motion machine?

Since they're proposing these silly delusions like 100% renewable energy in a decade.

  • Agrees "Clean Coal" is a dirty lie.

  • Another good ad. I like the mention of "Dirty Coal". We can't just go after "Big Oil", coal should be target #1.

The "Clean Coal" propaganda machine must be confronted.
