  • so basically its a giant anrid tablet with a built on keyoard?

  • are there apps you can download? like say skype?

  • did he just say hello guys this is pussy darnel?

  • get the 3g it only costs an extra uhhh 70 DOLLARS

  • This device is a RIPOFF! All it is is pretty much google chrome on a laptop and nothing else. May god have mercy on your soul Google, May god have mercy on your soul.

  • @resmith2222 You seriously don't understand how awesome that is. They took away your caps lock and it is motherfucking google chrome on a laptop with no O.S.! It runs all it's utilities on less memory than it takes to run windows seven alone.

Internet security programs are 49-150 dollars and microsoft office starts at 120 dollars. There is no setup. That is where most of the tech stores make their money.

  • Can you download iTunes on these computers.

  • @LBJCleveland4Ever no. no programs. you can listen to music on youtube though :D

  • @AlexeiWest All of the programs are already available to people through google. There is google docs and google music. Microsoft will be ripping this off in a few years.

Right now I just cannot see playing hard core videogames on the tiny chromebook specs.

  • @TheSugarRay yes, I know. what I meant is that there are no programs to install on the hard drive. all the service you need are available over the web as apps, though, such as google docs, music, maps, gmail, picaso, etc. I reckon microsoft could learn a lot from google; and what hard-core games can you play over the web? if you were planning to play starcraft 2 or something, you can't install it. the only program is the browser.

  • @AlexeiWest Gaming is not what it's for and doesn't make it any less amazing from a tech perspective. You don't know.

  • @TheSugarRay THAT IS WHAT I'M SAYING. gaming isn't what it is for, and you can't install games anyway. If you want to game, get a pc or macbook.

  • Samsung one is the best of both

  • Not very hands on, you're just looking at the form factor and such.Use some apps, play HD video. Shit like that...

  • Good review. Though it would of been good if you said why you prefer the Acer touchpad to the Samsungg touchpad, since buyers may want to know why. Sometimes you said you prefer one thing to another but haven't stated why. Good review anyway.

  • @myvoiceismypass

    My intel Atom File Server got 4GB DDR3. ( 2 x 2GB)

  • Acer beats Samsung on this stage!

  • acer looks nicer :)

  • @obirch23 and it's 16:9 widescreen as what APPEARS to be samsung's 16:10 or closer to 4:3.

Why does that matter to me. Most movies are 16:9 or that stupid super wide anamorphic 2:35:1 crap that is more like 16:8 or 16:7 aspect ratio . Translation. the Wider the app, video, movie, etc that you're trying to watch VS the aspect ratio of the monitor your watching on...the more top and bottom black bars...SIZES you'll see. I HATE black bars. cheers

  • @chronofusion you see I don't look at things like that, but I suppose I should really considering how many films I do watch, thanks for your analysis! I understand what you mean, I hate it when the film is in just a small strip in the middle of the screen, surely they should design them with this in mind!

  • @obirch23 It has gone like this. 1st we had 4:3 tv's..then 16:9 aspect ratio films came out....then as SOON as most of the consumers upgraded to 16:9 tv's..THEN the idiotic movie editors ( or whoever involved) said " well we can't have that..we must make it WIDER.We MUST make the consumer suffer with black bars..." .lol. In came that anamorphic wide 2:$:1. I just wish they would STOP worrying about making it wider & focus on quality. Let me enjoy a video that FITS the screen. Ok i'm done :P

  • @chronofusion Actually.....movies were always filmed in widescreen, at least for the last 70 years or so....we had 4:3 TV's because technology wasn't advanced enough to even build a 16:9 tube television 'back in the day'. Movies were never filmed in 16:9 either, it was always one of the weird super wide formats, the industry just decided that 16:9 was the size that could fit *most* of the widescreen formats out there. The black bars on a 16:9 display are MUCH smaller than the ones we had on 4:3

  • @chronofusion Honestly I actually prefer 16:10 displays when it comes to a PC, much more 'useable' desktop space, and since watching movies is probably about 5% of my laptop useage, the larger black bars while watching a movie is a welcome trade off. :) Just trying to shed light on the fact that there is no 1 standard for screen size, different strokes for different folks!

  • Nice vid Quincy. cheers

  • Why not just get the droid razr and the lap dock. It's cheaper, can hold programs and apps, and you get a choice between a phone or a netbook

  • @bieberhater1 Maybe he didn't want to deal with a smartphone. Some people still prefer to keep the web computer and simple text and talk phone separate. Please understand that I'm not giving ya crap. Just explaining a possibility. Funny and cool youtube name btw. Cheers

  • does the google chromebook acer (the one you used the most in the video) have windows items installed into it?

  • 2:49 transcribe audio LMAO

  • Is it me or does this guy sound like Cleveland from Family Guy?

  • Using the stopwatch of my Casio calculator watch and my Samsung Series 5 Chromebook (plugged in) with a 25+ Mbps connection from Shaw Communications. All times start from one New Tab open and end until all flickering and loading completed. I am logged into associated accounts:

    5.46 secs YouTube

    15.5 secs Google News

    14.12 secs Google+

    6.7 secs Facebook

    2.6 secs Google.com

4 secs search of "chromebook" from omnibox

1 sec open New Tab (making two open)

    12.25 secs Gmail

    Google FAILbook

  • Acer does a nice job with their netbook keyboards. I don't know why the shift key is the one most companies decide to shrink down for a smaller keyboard. Shrink the damn arrow keys, dangus.

  • I can not believe no ethernet - that a closer. I'll have to keep my fingers crossed another OEM has more sense. No wonder a few reviews stated that Chromebooks were sluggish.

  • How good does google docs work while offline?

  • thank you for the review. based on it, i will continue to use my one-year acer netbook and my less-than-one-year old acer notebook (desktop replacement). you were very thorough on your review.

  • So... it runs an actual "Chrome" OS? No windows?!?! D:

  • @Aero159X Also, can I run things like Open Office or other word processors?

  • @Aero159X You can use Google Docs! and save everything on the web, and you don't lose anything because the auto save is better than the Microsoft word processors softwares.

  • nice video man!

  • put on transcribe adiuo

  • Why should I order this over a Windows 7 notebook, that costs the same?

    I need persuasion.

  • @khoraski | Boots in like 8 seconds, Nothing is stored on the device itself, all on the internet, and you can access all your settings from any chromebook. AND its made by google :)

  • @khoraski List all the things you WONT do on your netbook simply because you have a larger, more powerful laptop/desktop. Then list all the things you WOULD do on your netbook. If the Chromebook can do all the things you would otherwise do on a netbook, you should consider yourself persuaded to purchase the chromebook over a netbook.

  • @hjk445 But I tend to alternate. There's a lot I do online that I later then want to do stuff offline. That would mean I'd have to constantly switch computer, which would get tedious. I see nothing bad with having a Chromebook, but I just don't see why it'd be better than a regular netbook.

  • @talldude123 I said "persuasion". These are all bad qualities.

  • @khoraski Sorry. Only real advantage is the SSD vs. HDD in Windows netbooks. SSD provides better load times; however storage space is sacrificed.

  • my class is getting chrome books :D

  • Transcribe audio > 19:18 > laugh

  • Are you able to close out of the internet ? lol i see no X button to close it

  • @rosslynch92 yes

  • its ok . but its price is not good . in this price i can get netbook windows full featured windows 7 which can do much more . even linux based netbooks are more cheap if its price is around 200$ then its good

  • Looking forward to showing us the full options for all available uses. Especially, resetting the device for User Ownership rights?

  • Can you tether the internet through your phone to the chrome book?

  • seems like a video about a battery? mine comes of with 2 flicks.

  • The 16 gigs is what killed it.

  • @xFUCKxYOURxMOTHERx That is okay, I'll just store my 20 1gb videos into the cloud.

  • I'm sorry $ 350 is way too much for a chromebook ( web only )

  • In your opinion which chromebook is better?

  • which would be better for writing? samsung or acer?

  • @MrDucky2112 Probably the Acer, I've heard good things about the keyboard.

  • @MrDucky2112 Acer. You pay $70 more for a bigger display and longer battery life. The Acer keyboard is better, and has better screen resolution.

  • @rosslynch92 you can access and share yes... but not games

  • does support java ?

  • wait...no LAN port.??

  • @MrNukeguy I second your statement. I don't have wifi D:

  • Doped? Auto correct on android can be interesting.

  • I would like to see a doped comparison with the Cr48. I have one, but would buy it unless it was in the 200$ range. Hopefully these will be snappier. The other deal breaker is my need to have two windows visible at a time.

  • Let us know how the HDMI performs to a TV! Very interested in seeing that.

  • Thanks for the chromebook review. I haven't found any good videos of the acer chromebook until now. I would love to see more video clips. :)

  • The Acer looks more like a notebook

The Samsung really looks like a "Chromebook".

    My Cr-48 looks awesome!

    - Cr-48 Pilot :-)

  • @myvoiceismypass I believe the n570 atom supports 4gbs but i'll look for a link. Also, I know I've seen netbooks with more than 2gb installed and accessible.

  • Are brightness settings on both devices set on maximum level?

  • @Cherezzabo I didn't adjust the brightness so what you see are out of the box settings.

  • @Cherezzabo Another thing to consider, the brightness was probably dimmed since the chromebooks were not connected to AC power.

  • @ChromebookUser that would be the same as if you would decrease level of brightness ( when you are not using power AC)

I guess most of the laptops act the same

  • @ChromebookUser yes, unless over ridden it is usually set to do auto.
