@dudeperson397 And since you yourself stated that you hate the lyrics, song, and singing I do not see how you can like the music at all. Nice job trying to save face you cowardless dung.
@grant1205 im taking an honors english class, and the stupid teacher thinks that examining songs that no one our age cares about is more important then doiing actual english
@dudeperson397 That's a nice, open-minded approach to take towards music like this.
English teachers often like to take music that offers different perspectives on the topics discussed in class or the books read- my AP English teacher last year had us listen to "The Ghost of Tom Joad" to get a better understanding of Steinbeck's message in The Grapes of Wrath. I'm sure your English teacher had some similar purpose in choosing this song.
@dudeperson397 Also, I take high offense at your assertion that songs like this are "songs that no one our age cares about". The amount of ways in which that comment is completely and utterly asinine is truly astounding, so you would do yourself well to avoid any future hyperbolic statements like that.
@dudeperson397 No one our age! I am 17 years old and I can clearly see the beauty and significance in this song and acting! If you can't then you are even dumber than I first believed you to be and to be quite honest I didn't think that was possible.
@dudeperson397 I don't understand why you don't like this. You say the Singing and Acting sucks? This is Mandy Patinkin. You may know him from Princess Bride? "Hallo. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." And Bernadette Peters? She's fantastic at every little thing she may do. Song and lyrics suck? The song and the music is full of so much emotion. The lyrics are phenomenal. They say exactly what they need to say. Please refrain from speaking this nonsense.
I love theatre and I'm an art history major, so the combination of these two are fabulous. I especially like when he's saying the colors yellow and blue and red because (supposedly) Seurat created "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte" using only these three colors. This is actually not entirely true, he did fudge it a little bit and use small portions of green and orange and whatnot. I love that this song even summarizes Seurat's artistic composition.
@dudeperson397 Well, thank you so much for this insightful criticism. Truly, your words have inspired millions, and we all bow down to the insatiable wit of your high opinion.
@dudeperson397 You're an idiot. To say that Bernadette Peters, Mandy Patinkin, and Stephen Sondheim all "suck" shows that you really don't know anything about musical theatre.
The revival was amazing but so was south pacific by the end of this year as the sun sets on sondhiem we need new composers to fill his place and this is not happening what a travesty
SONDHEIM IS A GENIUS.
