They're not sad lyrics. They're just real. All of his songs are real. Not happy or sad. They have conflicting emotions. Like Elliott said, people only say his songs are sad because they don't get it. He said depressing is real, but real doesn't have to be depressing. I like his music because it's more realistic and has some kind of meaning unlike every other song you hear on the radio these days.
