I just got my old cassette tapes out of my shed curious as if they might still play, and sure enough they did ! ! ! I hadn't played them since the '80s. One of the first tapes I played was by the Fabulous Poodles, so I am posting this really FUN video starring Peter Cook on his very own show ! ! ! ENJOY ! ! !
Listen for great music like this on a new radio station called "OffTheCharts" - featuring 70's (and some 80's) lost hits and chart wonders!
Go to Live365.com, type OFFTHECHARTS in the Search box and click on the station logo. The audio stream should begin. Become a VIP member and listen commercial free!
Brilliant song, loved Revolver, but what an awful way of filming this! Saw Bobby Valentino this weekend, and great to talk about the Golden Age of Deptford
This is, for lack of a better way to put it, FABULOUS!!!!! Thanks so much for posting this. I love this band. Saw them live in AZ in 1980! Big pink sunglasses hovered over the stage as a set piece. Still have the LP and play it frequently.
This album "Mirror Stars " could have made them [Fab Poos] a major hit for 1978 if we at Epic Records hadn't dropped the ball on them ! we just had too many artists to work at the time of this release, and not enough man power to cover everyone of them. Hell even by today's standards....this is still one of the best POP albums ever released. Sorry lads. But at least the music lives on.
@Keeks4 !Lucky! too fun! they were such an awesome band, and w/tp...who could go wrong! i went w/a co-waitress pal and her little sister who brought a gaggle of gays from maBell, they all worked together and we had a blast!!!
@jpdog - awesome! wasn't it fun?! Did you know there's a "Remember You're a Poodle" page on Facebook...I just posted some pictures on there from that night! you must check it out and become a fan! you should be able to find it by doing a search on facebook for that name...or look on my facebook page Kelly Lake, Tacoma WA I have some cool pics in my rock and roll album on FB from Tacoma/Seattle concerts, local bands at the time, you'd enjoy seeing them!
@jpdog - you should be able to just go onto Facebook and search for "Remember You're A Poodle" group page....then you can see the pictures I just posted tonight from the Seattle show in '79. It's an open group for any Poodles fan to check out, lots of cool stuff and Tony and Bryn from the Poodles comment frequently!
saw 'em open 4 the Ramones in Chicago '79,had an 8 track of them but had to find album on net.Love the electric violin, one of earliest groups that I can remember using, other than country bands.
I have this button flag that I have had FOREVER! I was pondering it and saw a button for The Fabulous Poodles" Shit, what a stupid name!! I decided to look on youtube. What do you know, there they are. I have a photo album with all of my concert stubs. I knew I had went to see them. 3-15-79 for 2$. Nice. The stub is obviously pre-computer days. Back when they use to print them with color and style. This one is hot pink. Very appropriate.
My God the Fabulous Poodles. I didn't think I would get a hit. I loved this song when it came out. A hit for a few short months - still a great song - 1 hit wonder.
takes me back .. saw the poodles on the same tour but in england. Had Mirror Star on a single though (which led me to buying their album), so think i was one of the few people in the audience who knew them and could sing along!
I was at that same concert. Drove from Iowa State to see it. Didn't go to see Tom Petty, went to see the Fabulous Poodles. It seems they got a more enthusiastic reception as I remember.
The band wasn't known in Australia, but I found this record whilst collecting singles on Pye Records in a second hand shop and thought this song was excellent. Great to have it on Youtube, thanks!
What a great song!! the lyrics are so fantastic, I havent heard this for ages and I still LOVE it! A lotta heart this song has, for all those who love rock and roll and have dreams. Still dreaming.
a song for the pushed around (I'm suddenly thinking of Joe Jackson's On Your Radio!)
I have the first album (were there more?) but it's at a friends house about 200 miles away and I haven't heard it in about 20 years. Great to hear a part of it again. Thanks!

Massively underated band that could have gone all the way but were just a little unfashionable at the time. This should have been a No 1.
