  • this track had nothing to do with SAW .it was done in New York with producer Steve Thompson..

  • @DanseSocietyOfficial Thank you for clearing that up! The connection with SAW was raised over three years ago by an ill informed comment left here...

  • Rawlings sounds like a cross between Dave Vanian and Ian Astbury here.

  • True goth! So unlike today's music, ie that Marilyn Monster crap! I know they did this for crossover appeal, but still. This is quite a song, I'll have to nick bits of it for my next composition. So this is a SAW production? I never knew that and I have the single! Good on them, then!

  • You can tell this is a S,A,W video, they went through a phase of their videos having fast moving colours or pictures whizzing past in the background....Donna Summer's 'This Time I KInow It's For real' or Sonia's 'You'll Never Stop Me From Loving You' are 2 prime examples

just as a footnote Steve Rawlings is my cousin !!

  • So faaaabulous and from the amazing Rock Arena

  • I only like the old Danse Society with Steve Rawlings.

  • check out our new video revelation from our album change of skin.just to put the record straight hold on was a steve Thompson production not saw that was say it again

  • this sounds so like new gold dream-era simple minds

  • Nothing compared to their early stuff but still heaps better than the music we have today...

  • @MordaciousFilms Hi, watch out for The Danse Society Reformation Plot on Facebook. The band has now reformed with new singer and a new album is due in mid July :-) Jess x

  • what a voice...

  • is this guy in love with himself :P

  • @Thrashkittie yup, but who cares, more talent than U2 etc....

  • Post punk with hot guy from the 80s...A+

  • I remember I saw this song as a promotion during the 80´s. Great song and video upon a time.

  • He`s a fucking poser, awful

  • He reminds me of Michael Hutchence mixed with Jim Morrison.

  • @WoodRatGirl HI watch out for The Danse Society Reformation Plot on Facebook! the band has now reformed with new singer and a new album is due in mid July. Jessica x

  • The lead singer reminds me of a young Johnny Depp abit.

  • Danse Society Reformed!!!!! plan to release an album in 2011

  • Großartige Band!!! Einer meiner Alltime-Faves im Darkwave/New Wave...

  • ¡Jooodeeeerrrr! he volado mucho con esta canción

  • love this song, love Danse Society since i was a little girl

    Sexy song,great,handsome lead singer!

    :)

  • I saw them near Alicante (Spain) in 1986. There was a radio broadcast of the gig, which I would love to find !

  • I went to school with him. I just can't take him serioulsy.

  • @whitbyjet65 what was Steve like at school? I adore this band :)

  • @Criddington He was older than me by a few years so I never mixed with him. He was just like all the other kids. Sensible hair, sensible clothes etc. I never saw any sugestion of a dark gothic direction but I suppose we all change & evolve. His little brother was a shit!

  • @Criddington By the way, he went to Gawber junior school in Barnsley.

  • @whitbyjet65 thanks! I'm busy writing a biography of the band for my university magazine, so I'm exploring all sources :)

  • @Criddington You're welcome. Good luck.

  • @whitbyjet65 lol check out on Facebook The Danse Society Reformation Plot. the band has now reformed with new singer and new album is due mid July. Jessica x

  • luv it!!!! a lot of good stuff from this band... they often make their way into my mp3 players since i found out about them a few years ago

  • you'll love it

    when you've had it

    need it

    and desire it

    miss it

    if it slips away...

    hold on

    to what you got

    what you got?

omg, love this one, still got the vinyl 7"and 12".. bought em when this track was released...so hard to believe it was so long ago... cheers mate n thanks for the upload!

  • This is disappointing. Their earlier stuff is the best.

  • YAY, original ROCK ARENA! FABULOUS *****

  • i must say that this guy is pretty hot...:)

  • @Fushia1992 he's even hotter in the clip to 'Heaven is Waiting' from the tv show 'The Tube'...mmmm!

  • @Fushia1992 Steve Rawlings...yes he is...he used to work at a store on Melrose in Hollywood called Comme Des Fous...he was definitely eye candy..but he went blonde.

  • @Fushia1992 From a time when even hot musicians were able to create deep, innovative, original and dark melodies...

  • oh my god...mmmh...

  • I love this!!!!

  • "Back in the good old,bad old days when music programs considered their viewers to have intelligence!" Lol, you're absolutely right!

But they are right, the viewers don't have intelligence (the largest part).

    Thanks for the video :)

  • It's too bad you can't get this anywhere, because it kicks. The guitaring reminds me a lot of early U2...

  • What album is this song off of?

  • not included in any album.

  • Year?

  • 1983?

  • 1986. This track was only ever released as a 7" and 12" single.

  • Download from Ares...

  • Do you realise this a Stock Aitken and Waterman production? I agree - their best song and I like everything from the first to the last - but this is something else. They knew how to get the best out of him and his voice.

  • WTF?! Seriously? SAW production?

  • Crazy but true mate, I have the 12"

  • no its not an SAW production. says my dad. he is the guitarist. lol. my life is surreal.

  • the one and only SAW production was say it again

  • Oh is that right - good to know. I thought this one was as well. I love everything they ever did and some really didn't enjoy the change to a more full production, many said it was poppy, but I think this song is just fantastic.

I have a load of questions for your dad then! Are there any demos, recordings, or anything else that were never released. Are there DS tracks out there we haven't heard?

  • One of the best songs from the Danse and from the whole 80s too!

  • this is so much power in the ugly disco time the eighties are . So much desire thanks for posting!!!!!danse and move.

  • Wow! That is a rare footage. I like how Steve Rawlings sings here. It sounds different from the other songs I have heard so far (with the exception of 'Sink'). It sounds heavier as well.

Thank-you very much for uploading this video.

  • Steve sounds like Jim Morrison on this one. I prefer their older tracks.

  • This track was great!

  • I think he sounds a bit like Lords of the New Church era Stiv Bators on this one.

  • Oh man!! thanks for the post you rule!!!

  • Thanks.....great song,,,,,,Danse Society, The Best
