I work self employed in the home improvement business. With the housing market and the bad economy, there is no way to pay for health care. In fact, I personally don't know to many who has quality health care, except for my VA friends, clients and a few because their spouse is insuring them . For everyone in my trade It's scary to think what happens when they get ill. Its jobless. no pay. homeless. sick and dead. Thanks America.

The US healthcare system is employer driven due to government policy. This has led to way too much insurance that doctors, drug companies, and medical equipment companies take advantage of through inflated prices due to that very subsidy, since people do not feel the costs. If Obama doesn't address this central issue, he will indeed make the situation worse.
But a European style system (like the Two-tier Public/Private France) will suck our innovation. I think the classical liberals are right on this own if they want to salvage US medical innovation....or see it go to China!

Congress must past real health care reform in 2009.
I work self employed in the home improvement business. With the housing market and the bad economy, there is no way to pay for health care. In fact, I personally don't know to many who has quality health care, except for my VA friends, clients and a few because their spouse is insuring them . For everyone in my trade It's scary to think what happens when they get ill. Its jobless. no pay. homeless. sick and dead. Thanks America.

The health industry is becoming dominated by a few large players, dividing the country into no competition monopolies. Driving health care costs out the roof.
Why our govt has regulated the industry like that is beyond me. Why doesn't our federal govt allow insurance co's to compete across state lines, end state mandates and legislate tort reform?

Imagine how expensive automobiles would be if you could only purchase certain cars in the state you live in with options you don't want. And you can't go to another state to buy a different brand or model.

theres allot of fear mongering around conspiracy theorists - I agree with them on certain issues - but here in Australia we have medicare and its absolutely awesome, if ever Im worried I see my doctor for free, can get a xray and have check ups for free, EVERYTHING IS FREE under medicare, aswell for people that may not have medicare, they still have sexual health clinics and doctors that offer free check ups/tests - you only pay for 'drugs' but that can be discounted hugely if your a student

If the Australian system is so good, then why do 43% of Australians also retain private health insurance?
Could it be due to shorter waiting lists in private hospitals, especially for procedures such as heart bypass surgery, for which there are often long waiting times in public hospitals? And choice of hospital/physician in the private system?
With my current insurance, I have no wait to see a doctor (I have a $20 copay) Dental is free, generic drugs are discounted, no wait for surgery.

Check out some of the language around page 430. It clearly talks about end of life care and depriving people of hydration and nutrition. Also, it states if you are over age 65, ever 5 years you must go in for "end of life counseling," unless you get sick, then it is every year. Obama is a NAZI.

The real DEATH PANELS are the insurance companies that deny a person coverage or raise peoples rates because of pre-existing conditions.
Our government is a combo of capitalism and social programs that really started from FDR.
Having a public option keeps the private insurance companies more honest and drives cost down. Without a public option, cost will more than likely stay up.

The US healthcare system is employer driven due to government policy. This has led to way too much insurance that doctors, drug companies, and medical equipment companies take advantage of through inflated prices due to that very subsidy, since people do not feel the costs. If Obama doesn't address this central issue, he will indeed make the situation worse.

Where is the source? I would love to see this! I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see this bill rear it's head again. Remember, we narrowly defeated it under Bush (HR3200 was introduced in 2007 originally), so I think it will pop back up again.
Also, we have the immigration issue to deal with next. Remember, that is Obama's next agenda. We narrowly defeated that trash legislation under Bush as well.
Patriots need to stand up and vote in good honest people working for us from all parties.

Where was the outrage when Bush raised the national debt ceiling every year he was in office that resulted in a $1.3 trillion dollar deficit at the same time they continued a record amount of spending while cutting taxes which also cut the governments revenue to try and pay those debts they were accumulating. Apparently it didn't trickle back down into the economy as they claimed. Under Bush they had 6 yrs. where the GOP had control of the house,senate,and White House but no healthcare reform

BBC America isn't in basic cable, and they don't focus on news like the other channels. I just want news channels to state that they are not biased. fox news motto is fair and balance, they say that with out irony. I dislike CNN, NBC, and PBS isn't really a news channel, its like documentary channel. I would be happy if they had PBS news though.
