  • I'd live to see this as a step by step. I can remember how do to it. I do t own a laser....yet, but have opportunities often to sail one.

  • Yes. This set up is fully class legal to the current rules.

  • Is this one class legal?

It looks like the outhaul, cunningham and vang have more purchase than my old Laser did. Are you allowed to run the outhaul and cunningham to the deck and aft like that? I did that on mine, but figured it wouldn't be class legal anymore. But that was 25 years ago.

  • Isnt it odd that the Laser designed to be the simplest most one-design ,equal boat in the world has become the hardest to rig and the variation in the rigging is greater than in any other class. There are lessons outside sailing eg politics in this.

  • @tincoffin It's still simpler and less varied than almost all other classes.

Poke your head inside a 505 someday. Or any non one-design class boat. Custom hulls, masts, booms, foils, sails, and more rigging permutations than you could imagine.

Lasers look incredibly equal in comparison.

  • @hagenar I used to sail a 505 35 years ago ! I have just gone back to dinghies its all the damn bits of string on the Laser . It seems quite a bit easier if you have all the modified bits . I just have the original.

  • you should make a video of you actually rigging it up, it would be very helpful

  • YA CANT BEAT A LASER I LUV THOSE THINGS

  • i love sailing lasers
