@ins0mniakds The 3 vs. 4 points for farmers depends on the edition of the game you have. Ours was an earlier edition where you get 4. We think they changed it because farmers came to have a lot of power with 4.
Nice video, The strength of Carcassonne is that you can pick it up in one turn, and then because it is quite a short game (about half an hour) (compared to games like settlers that take 2 hours) the new player will still want to play again, meaning you can enjoy it with new people very quickly. Here's a detailed written review (if anyone's interested)
@Haunebu45 Yes - we have played Settler of Catan and really like it. We have some neighbors that have it so we've mostly played with them. But because of that it's mysteriously absent from our game closet.
@t3amtomahawk We haven't tried Cities and Knights yet - although it will be the first expansion we pick up for it since we think it looks like the best expansion.
@Ilopsen The farmers score 4 points for each completed city they service. Since the road segments are just 1 point each when completed, they don't get cut in half at the end since they still score 1 point per segment at the end for uncompleted roads.
@TheBoardGameFamily its interesting. Yesterday I played this game with some people with an older version, who i'd never played before, and we kept arguing about the rules. After a while, we found the rules were quite different, for example 4 poinnts for a farm insted of 3.
@fitztheviking Yes. Here is the statement from the rules under "Farmer Scoring" - "For each city a player's farmers supply, the player who deployed the farmer(s) earns 4 points, regardless of the size of the city."
@TheBoardGameFamily must be different editions of the rules cos mine says three. but then i cant find anything to say that a shield in a city is worth extra points even though it makes complete sense. i was wondering what they were for. Which expansions do you recommend?
@fitztheviking It looks like they are different versions of the rules. I'm going off the rule book that came with our game (can't recall the year we bought it), but I just checked the Rio Grande Games website and the rules they have posted states "3 points" just like you said. So it looks like it does depend on the rule version you have. That farm point difference will change the strategies. We like to play with the Inns & Cathedrals and the Traders & Builders expansions.
OMG us IT techs at work play this every day at work during lunch... its a lot of fun!

1. Awesome review!
2. I thought city points for farms was 3 not 4.
3. It is way better when a computer scores for you (meaning play on the XBox360).
4. Multiplayer is best!
5. I'LL Take you DOWN! ;-)

They should do a city version of this with gangs, drug dealers (farmers) and hitmen. :D

Wait a minute, it's 3 points for farmers isn't it? And theives points aren't cut in half, they stay the same.
