I drove one ( a company car in 82' my favorite car ever, sadly one day while at breakfast it was in an accident, someone ran their truck through a red light and flipped on top of where I parked the car. It did make the papers. man I miss that car. it was a head of its time!!!!
I'm DROOLING!!! I LOVE THESE CARS! I have a 1979 Chrysler New yorker!! This is in many ways similar to my car. VERY technologically advanced for the time!!
@therealmr970 LOL I have seen similar stress cracks on a couple other Imperial steering wheels, but I have seen many more without any cracks at all. I attribute the cracked steering wheels to time spent out in the HOT SUN over many years.
@49bobbyk Yes the EFI can give you fits, but for those of us that have learned from each other through online blogs about potential issues, the 81-83 Imperial can be a very reliable Daily Driver. I'm not suggesting to drive any of these Wonderful Imperials as a Daily Driver, they are too Nice and too Few for that, but the EFI cars can be a pleasure to drive.
@GayUOPXBoy10 Thanks well there are a lot of opinions out there about what cars look better. I can tell you that I can't drive this car anywhere without people checking it out, commenting on how much they Love it. I'm amazed at how many people have no idea what an 81-83 Imperial is, but they are fascinated. I have noticed many people feel the need to show off on the road in front of the Imperial, I'm guessing they are feeling like their ride doesn't quite measure up when next to an Imperial.
Also, the 81s have the nicest front seats. the bottom cushion is different in the 82s and 83s.
Running EFI are mechanical marvels and are fun to watch run. The Chrysler spec recalled 2 barrel carb makes an Imperial nice and reliable for daily driving. It is a sad sight however, when you come across the Imperial with a redneck carb conversion because it usually includes butchured wiring, vacuum lines, shiny chrome air cleaner covers - etc.
You are right the moon roof was only available for 1981 model year. I am aware of the Mark Cross Emblem on the arm rest, check the brochure and it says Kimberly Velvet cloth. I've come to know many 81-83 Imperials over the years and have yet to see a failed digital dash. Many Imperials were unnecessarily converted to carbs due to lack knowledgeable mechanics and lack of parts availability. Many cars were suffering from air leaks and fuel leaks as they aged and they were generally easy fixes.
Only 1981 cars could have a sunroof, the only extra cost option. I have two 81's--a Black one with silver leather and a silver car with red cloth. Look closley at the fold down armrest and you will see the Mark Cross emblem. The digital displays are prone to konk out. Look for one on Ebay. It died on both of my cars.I gave up on the Fuel injection after 15 years. Chrysler converted many of these cars when they were fairly new.
I do not like analog dashes, as I prefer digital as it looks so cool. Futuristic and so colorful!

@Hiayokie Sorry to hear that, seems like a lot of 81-83 Imperials have been victims of strange and tragic mishaps.

I always loved that model of Imperial. However the lean burn engine gave fits.

Yes they are amazing cars! Tell me about your Imperial, the year, color, condition? Are you Japanese? I worked in Japan for awhile with Honda.
