Can't compare, xtina is the best in my mind, always, but because MUSIC is an emotional experience, xtina touches me more, that's it really. Mariah is undoubtedly the diva too, just not the same experience for me.

A fan of both, but I give it to Mariah Carey. Truth is, when Mariah isn't lipping, she's awesome; same with when Xtina isn't screaming. Both are great singers, though! When I hear and see someone sing MC's song "Emotions," and don't pass out in the middle of the song, then I'll compare high notes.
Christina seems to have to try to hit high notes like these; Mariah is a natural. Just look at their faces when it's live. lol. MC is effortless and Xtina is visibly trying to hit the notes. She also has to build up to hit really high notes, but Mariah just hits them in a second. So... Mimi wins. But when I think of Xtina I think of her raw power (the gives me goosebumps, hah). When I think of Mariah I think of her amazing range. I love them both though, BEST singers of the '90s and '00s :) imo

Over the last two years her voice has developed to have a more rich sound that is lovely to listen to; just listen to the songs on "Bionic" (even though the album is pretty much crap) and Burlesque (her best vocal performance ever).
@iLolz19 Christina sings with a lowered larynx = artificial intonation. She is very pitchy and her runs are unnecessary..also burlesque was a strained mess her vocal 'prime' was 1999-2001.

Opinions Opinions. Personally I like them both. They both scream sometimes so I dont know what anyone is talking about. And people cant really sing half the songs Christina can and maybe Mariah, you have to be really good to do that. They both have a completely different style so they sing their songs completely different and hit their high notes different, theres no point comparing them. Try Beyonce and Monica or something. What people have to understand is that Mariah back then is not Mariah Carey now. Her voice is not the same nor will it ever probably be. She's older than Christina and been singing longer professionally. So her voice has run its course as far as being the absolute best. Both of them sing very well, and have different styles. So its hard to say which is better. it really dpends on what they're singing.

In terms of range and technique, Mariah is the better singer. Her voice is a lot clearer and less strained.
Christina has a good voice, but her belts sound 'gritty' and strained. I find her performances rather annoying because her voice is all over the place.
For me, there are a few artists who have better voices than Christina. For example, Alicia Keys and Beyonce.

@PRizzieNYC24 I agree, but power isn't always a good thing. It often involves 'growling' and bad technique. The only singer who mastered how to be powerful yet bareable was Whitney; however, her voice wasn't as agile or versitile as Xtina's, Mariah's or Beyonce's.

I have seen consistently Mariah and Christina experiment with wide ranges (Low registers-whistle) on albums and live. Only in recent works of Beyonce (I AM, 4) have I heard her leave her unique chest voice to explore head voice (Ave Maria, Ego, Halo,) other than that I don't consider her versatile. Consistent, that she is which I do admire about her.

I've always thought that if Christina learnt how to properly use and control her voice, she would be unstoppable - Mariah/Whitney standard. I don't think this will ever happen though as I've noticed a slight decline in her vocals recently and I heard that she refuses any vocal training.

Christina seems to have to try to hit high notes like these; Mariah is a natural. Just look at their faces when it's live. lol. MC is effortless and Xtina is visibly trying to hit the notes. She also has to build up to hit really high notes, but Mariah just hits them in a second. So... Mimi wins. But when I think of Xtina I think of her raw power (the gives me goosebumps, hah). When I think of Mariah I think of her amazing range. I love them both though, BEST singers of the '90s and '00s :) imo

Christina tries harder because she is a perfectionist, but that doesn't mean she doesn't feel it, it's the opposite. Mariah for the win. Even if Mariah is 12 years older That isn't that old but it means Mariah started in 1989 and Christina in 1999. Mariah was the trend setter and did better than Paula Abdul. I kinda like Carrie Underwood, LeAnn Rimes, Hilary Duff, Jennifer Hudson and Selena Gomez better than Christina. Mariah is my favorite though. Her voice is beautiful. I am a big fan. I think Christina is ok, but her choices for contestants on the Voice were horrible.

I love both of these artists, however Mariah Carey is the best vocalist of all time. And probably will be unless another female comes out of nowhere with a voice that's more than flawless and of a goddess. I don't see that happening. Over the last two years her voice has developed to have a more rich sound that is lovely to listen to; just listen to the songs on "Bionic" (even though the album is pretty much crap) and Burlesque (her best vocal performance ever).

Christina aguilera-soulful pop princess Mariah Carey- soulful R&B goddess so how are you supposed to compare them when they have totally different voices. And people cant really sing half the songs Christina can and maybe Mariah, you have to be really good to do that. What people have to understand is that Mariah back then is not Mariah Carey now. Her voice is not the same nor will it ever probably be. She's older than Christina and been singing longer professionally. So her voice has run its course as far as being the absolute best. Both of them sing very well, and have different styles. So its hard to say which is better. it really dpends on what they're singing.

In terms of range and technique, Mariah is the better singer. Her voice is a lot clearer and less strained.
Christina has a good voice, but her belts sound 'gritty' and strained. I find her performances rather annoying because her voice is all over the place.
For me, there are a few artists who have better voices than Christina. For example, Alicia Keys and Beyonce.

@imafan123456 I beg to differ, Christina's voice is more powerful than Beyonce's ANY DAY. Beyonce does have an wide-ish range but no where near Christina's and absolutely nowhere near Mariah's. Let's be real here.

@PRizzieNYC24 I agree, but power isn't always a good thing. It often involves 'growling' and bad technique. The only singer who mastered how to be powerful yet bareable was Whitney; however, her voice wasn't as agile or versitile as Xtina's, Mariah's or Beyonce's.

@imafan123456 Very true. Whitney's voice is her own, I just can't consider Beyonce one of the great's in terms of variety. I have seen consistently Mariah and Christina experiment with wide ranges (Low registers-whistle) on albums and live. Only in recent works of Beyonce (I AM, 4) have I heard her leave her unique chest voice to explore head voice (Ave Maria, Ego, Halo,) other than that I don't consider her versatile. Consistent, that she is which I do admire about her.

@PRizzieNYC24 Beyonce is a great overall entertainer, but her dancing is a lot better than her singing.
I've always thought that if Christina learnt how to properly use and control her voice, she would be unstoppable - Mariah/Whitney standard. I don't think this will ever happen though as I've noticed a slight decline in her vocals recently and I heard that she refuses any vocal training.

@imafan123456 Same here, I've always seen Beyonce that way ! I completely agree of the recent decline of both Mariah and Whitney it is so unfortunate but I have all her (Mariah's) albums and so many great live performances here on youtube to console me LOL Despite their decline their still timeless and the best!

Christina! Mariah voice is thin, she got that whistle register every one goes bonkers over & she cracks a lot these days. Christina gotta work on her vocals too though but Mariah doesn't even give me chills...

@bklynchicka994 naw xtina's voice is the thin one. it starts thinning out on a smiple D5 and strains on a B4 which is sad. since when has mariah cracked? yeah i can vouch and say mariah has cracked on;y 3 times in her career. and it wasn't in the whislte that she cracked, nor has she cracked when belting like xtina has on several occasions because of her tech. you're right, xtina needs a lotta work done, now her C's are coarse. Just bcuz someone don't give you chills doesn't mean anything
