Excellent point. Funny how folks like Charlie Gibson are now saying, "enough already," to Cindy Sheehan and the anti-war crowed. At least conservatives like me are consistent in their support of taking the war to the enemy. Though, there are so many different factions in Afganistan, I don't know how you bring them all together under one government.

On the point of Oil. The USSR developed and largely perfected, UCG underground coal gasification ... essentially only 5-10% of the worlds implied coal resources are mineable using todays methods ie open pit and underground mining.

The USA tested UCG in the 1990's,the USA has the worlds largest coal resources the tests were disbaned in the late 90's

UCG opens up much of remaining 90%, products produced include heavy fuel oil, diesel, av gas and power. UCG products are cheap to produce + low CO2
