That's the future. We treat our buildings and heritage like this now what do you think they will do should we, as white people , ever become the minority. No good pretending it doesnt matter because once a people who made a country what it is is gone, then the country will soon follow. Learn from History. Next time you look at some of these buildings they will probably be mosques or some sort of community centre.
For god sakes please knock this hideous building down. People wake up and move on, times have changed. Can't stand the sight of this, people who come from out of town think what the hell. Not a good impression of Bradford is it? Right in the city centre we have a disgusting old cinema which is infested by rats. This city needs Jobs. Jurys Inn and P. Financial looks so cool!
The theatre is starting to look (sadly) a real eyesore. Once the roof starts to become weather damaged that will be the real beginning of the end, it will become dangerous and will have to be pulled down, like it or not.
The Odeon has been standing there for years, just 'waiting' for the moment to fall down. If there is someone to buy it and restore it's old function it will be great, but if not, they should really tear it down, because it just stands there.
The Odeon formerly known as the Gaumont Cinema was where The Beatles appeared in the sixties and the cinema can be spotted by the eagle-eyed in 'The Beatles Anthology' (footage shows the Beatles leaving the Gaumont by a side door in the alley at the top side of the theatre, Alhambra side). Built on the site of a brewery, the building when first erected was called 'The New Victoria Cinema'. On the Thornton Road side of the building, where the windows are bricked up, was a very classy restaurant.
The audio is an accurate reflection of what was stated at the meeting, and being present at the meeting I can verify that it has not been taken out of context.
As stated by other people who have commented, it leads you to believe that there may be a hidden agenda. Perhaps it is a case that the proposed plan for the venue does not fit in with BCRs own ideas for the site, which is why they are now stating that the sale cannot go ahead?
If they are refusing to sell after they have just said they would, it sounds to me as though they've got some kind of hidden agenda up their sleeves what they're not telling anyone about.
Get a solicitor onto them cos you can get them for slander or something can't you if they go back on their word.
Their deception, lies, incompetence and corruption never cease to amaze me. I hope they end up in prison like Poulson - that other crook who attempted to destroy Bradford's great heritage. Just who the hell do they think they are??
Keep up the pressure! Iconik buildings like this need to be saved. Over here in Barrow we've lost nearly all our old theatres and cinemas - Once they're gone they're gone for ever. Don't let it happen in Bradford!!
I've only lived in Bradford for 5 years but the odeon is one of the most beautiful building that is in Bradford city Centre. for all that is holy please do not pull it down
Question to BORG how many Asian supporters are in on this as it seems to me not many I would love to see the building saved

Kris Hopkins is now part of a government that is in the process of scrapping Yorkshire Forward.
By next March or so, Jan Anderson will be on the dole.

Ditto - she says it right there. Someone wants to buy it - let them buy it! Save the Odeon!
In Halifax, Square Chapel was in a HORRIFIC state and they have managed to turn it into the gorgeous performing arts building it is today.
This building can be saved - believe it.
