the year 1995, i spent all summer listening to this "summer song" loved it but the summer endend... i spent the last 16 years searching for this music that reminded me of the best summer ever... today i found it, thank's to the power of Internet 2.0, thank you all very much
Bought this tape (brought my Walkman) in Munich as an exchange student in the summer of 1995. I thought that by the time I got back to the States these guys would be huge. They weren't, as it happened, but I made every effort to turn all of my friends on to them. Killer stuff still. It was truly fantastic to be a midwestern teen in the '90's with music like this as a soundtrack. Truly.
@mnap128 That might be the best comment I've read on YouTube...you hit the nail on the head. Born in '80. Spent my teenage years listening to and living this kind of music. Turned 30 last May. But I was lucky in that the music of that decade came along at precisely the right time in my life. It'd be great to go back in time for one summer weekend, though.
Wow, i love this song ...the good old times, summer-love ,friends, good beer, and maybe a bit of funny stuff (...) ,that`s what it`s all about. Thanx for posting !!!
you can not possibly imagine how long i've had this song stuck in my head. i was an 82' kid. this played in the same era as Folk Implosion. a little before, maybe. i've had parts of this song stuck in my head for the past 15 years. i'm the music director at a radio station now. and i still didn't know the song. got bored at work and investigated.
i had the lyrics wrong. that's why i never found it.
seen these guys in the early 90s at a place called club babyhead along with velvet crush and the laurels got to meet bill and tom real cool guys talked about guitars one of my best memories.....rhode island had some good music venues once upon a time ago
There's just as much good music being made today as there was in the 90's. You've just got to look for it. Of course you're not going to discover any good music on the radio or MTV. Hell, this song was only played at 1 in the morning. Great tune though!
Yeah this brings me back to MTV'S 120 minutes, the first song I heard was Velvet Roof from the Let Me Come Over CD. It's a solid cd all the way through.
No better scene than the UMASS / 5 College years for bands, shows, and radio during the BT days... Those were truly great music years. Short but sweet.
@ViolaMae1985 yeh back in what 1995? I was 15 this song played all summer long....I remember thinking it was Soul Asylum for a day or two...brings me back to that time every time I hear this friggen song it almost EPIC
Great video...but I think the guys of Buffalo Tom would be throwing up in their collective mouths with all the Yankees footage (especially Boggs) BT being a Boston band.
Did ThirdTimesCharm say that this guy sounds like the singer from Death Cab? If that's really what he meant, then he needs to clean his ears. If he was referring to some other comment, then carry on. Both bands are awesome, but sound nothing alike--for all you noobs out there. :)
You're right - this band should have been royalty. God I hate mass-media owned radio. Great lyrics and they put so much emotion (energy, lamenting, hope and sadness all rolled into one) when they perform.
I love this bands music, I realy do, it's a great sound. However I hate the singers voice. Sorry, but he just can't sing, and sounds like some guy with a sinus infection singing in his mom's basement. I know a lot of people are going to hate me for saying so, but I think this band could have gone a lot farther without the lead singer. He once sang "Heaven" by the Psychedelic Furs and totaly trashed it. Like I said I think this bands "sound" is great just toss the singer. please.
Hey David, I think your a fool for saying that, what kind of an idiot are you? He's got a great voice, I think you should stop listening to Josh Groban anymore, Buffalo Tom is not for you....
Just because you disagree with someone mouthspine21 doesn't mean you should lash out at them with name calling. Might I suggest you see someone about that temper of yours :)
by the way dit liedje blijft awesome! :D
