Cali style bigtime. Thanks for sharing this, really shows the Cali flavor and what we had going on back in the day. This has gotta be '83. Keep on rockin' it.
Omg there's my father john :) he use to pop lock around the house all the time and damn he had a lot of hair lol :) I miss him so much RIP dad I love you
@chuker77 wat up poppin chuck, im a friend of kid kobra. i been trying to meet you everytime i come back home to chicago. hopefully we can hook up and collaborate soon. ron d
Ticalot is midnites bredren! Is there any old footage of midnite aswell?! This is sum real history on poplockin rite here... Please if there's anymore post it bro!! 1
Pop Lockin' Forever! I was born in '85 & from Carson Cali. I remember like '88 & '89 my brothers, cuzins & everybody in tha neighborhood was lockin. The best dance created next to breakdance. LA for life!!!
This tape is just an video tape with different clips recorded from tv in the 80's some from Salinas, California some from Watsonville, California, different places.
i use to take off my shirt and put clamps on my meat tits and stare at my self in the mirror while i pop lock for hours while listening to sonny and cher
@lanier2 u aint never lied i was born in 1975 i was a kid growing up with this. i have goose bumps. im from compton so i know the big cultural impact this is, this was all we had back then, before all this bling bullshit, and stuntin. it was all about the curl, poplockin and ur kinfolks. like KRS-ONE SAY " I WAS THERE"
I'm 47 now, from SanDiego. Man, I was a pop locker back in the day (70's), jerri curl and all. Gotta admit we traveled up I5 to peep (steel) from the LA brothers. I eventually became strickly a popper "Snake Hips." Joined Army in 80', west coast dudes were popping, east coast cats were spinning (diff styles). Early 80's were insane time for dancing and DJ'g. The beats would put you in a trance. All respect to MJ, but he copped his moves off the LA kids. This video is HISTORY!!!!
I'm trying to locate Darrel "Boogaloo" Cooley my uncle "Steve Daniels" was also a OG Compton Pop Locker I was so young but I do remember he said they were best friends..My uncle past away back in 1990 R.I.P. I found some of his work on youtube under Herbie Hancock Rockit Grammy's he's on the left side and does a solo spin second solo. He's also on Silver Spoon with Pearl Bailey 2 episodes ..I can't remember his dance name holla back if anyone knows more info on my uncle or Darrel aka Boogaloo.
Yeah I figured this was southern Cali and not the Bay area. I'd seen that current clip of Tic-A-Lot and was wondering if it was the same person in this video.
Thgis is classic early 80's , just before crack cocaine hit....it was a very innocent time of people dancing and listening to music .
