  • If we don't learn from history we are destined to repeat it! Am I the only one who sees the parallel between then and now? Our current state was in the works long before Obama for sure. Remember Clinton? Surplus? Government working together? And please don't respond talking about his infidelity. He made our country work for us. Now we are on the verge of collapse and we owe THAT to the obstructionist Republicans who signed "The Pledge" and could care less about their constituents.

  • Unemployment peaked at 25% in 1933. Take into consideration that Spain is almost there today. Greece is at just under 20% and rising. People are struggling to find enough to eat as the state is cutting on everything including unemployment benefits to save money.

And all because politicians can't admit that the Euro is a failure.

  • We have 'Hoovervilles' springing up all over the UK at the moment, as Ian Smith, the DWP Minister has just cut housing benefits for disabled and unemployed below the market rent level, so there will be an estimated 250,000 homeless in London alone in the run up to the Olympics 2012! They are building shacks out of crates and living in tents in churchyards in Bristol and London and getting Trussle Trust meals, but Bush and Blair each have 5 homes, despite being war criminals :)

  • Fascinating to see how history repeats itself. Thanks for posting this!

  • The unemployment rate at he start of FDR's 3rd term was higher than at the start of his 1st term.

  • Obamaville

  • I can't believe people pin this on Obama. This is the end result of YEARS of income disparity by the top and big business. If you think the GOP will solve this problem you're nuts. They want to cut taxes for the rich and corporations. They talk about a flat tax that will raise taxes on everyone, but the very rich.

  • same as it ever was

  • welcome to Obamavilles!

  • @Andy52763 That's some ignorant thing to say. You make it sound like all that is wrong with America can all be blamed on Obama. If Obama is gone, problems solved. Give me a break.

  • I think we should march on the house of representatives and set up a shanty town and call it "Republicanville". For they are the obstructionist and hoarders for the rich.

  • obamavilles

  • It is time to return to God, I think... Man never was sufficient for resolving the world's problems.

  • @2bpilot theirs are people called representitives, you can send letters, petition, etc. It's not gonna solve it immediatly, but its better than nothing. I've done it before and it works, the petitions I signed actually got enough people to let it pass. :)

  • @2bpilot I'm not fighting you or your opinion, I understand what you mean about how people pity obama and how he has done nothing. I just wanted to mention that this country will never move forward when we do not support our government. If there is something wrong with it, then it is in the people's hand to stand up and fight for their rights. But no one is doing it! So why are they complaining?? you know what i mean?? Obama not being a good pres should be solved by the people.

  • @2bpilot you also seem to be run by emotion because you claim that what obama wants to do is stupid that's why the congress is not passing it. I just said congress is mostly repub, or did you forget? yea repubs do not like democrates, kind of like the KKK and black people, its obvious.

if you don't like what obama is doing, than please protest, please voice your opinion, or else you will be just another person living in the U.S. that does nothing.......

  • @2bpilot

Btw do you know America runs itself on emotions and not logic? If there was a hint of logic then we would not be killing Iraqi kids because some idiot that they don't know did 9/11. Man i love Bush.

If you took a year of government as i, (i would love to meet those educated ppl you talk about...hard to come across) then you would know that the pres is a puppet of the government, and you know the congress is what really decide what happens.

  • @2bpilot all of this started because i said it should be Bushville not Obamaville....You strayed from the point in the beginning, which is self explanatory, Bush called for the War, he and Cheney gained so much from it, he left, Obama became pres. What unfortunate luck.

  • @2bpilot AND it is a republican Vs Democrat problem! because currently repubs don't want obama to succeed. It might come as a surprise because you'd think by 2010 their will be no racism.....but sadly because he's black is one of the many reasons repubs are this way toward him. ....or how about him being "muslim" which he isnt....they don't like home....so they won't help him.

  • @2bpilot it was either mccain or obama, and ppl picked the latter. The situation we're in is not easy, there are so many things going on that you don't know about.

Obama is trying but he has republicans in the congress that will not pass anything he wants to do (most of it) i took a year of government and economics so I'm not picking this from my head.

I'm not going to do research because if you want to prove a point, YOU go all the way, not me.

  • @2bpilot why don't u try fixing the problems....? and please u would choose mccain over him??? the dude would just start another war.

why dont u give an example rather than say he made things worse

  • What Obama is doing seems very similar to what Hoover did. Yesterday Hooverville, tomorrow Obamaville. The previous qoute was from Abraham Lincoln.

  • @Fgsltw316 it should be Bushville not Obamaville, Bush put us in this situtation, Obama JUST BECAME PRESIDENT he can't fix all this in a day.

  • "You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.

You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.

You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.

You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.

You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.

You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence.

You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves."

  • whos responsiblitiy is it to find a man work? the man or the goverment? no commies need reply

  • Portions of this video are inaccurate. FDR was elected in 1932. This video puts blame on Hoover for things that happened in 1934.

Must be another DNC propaganda fim.

  • Thanks, this is great. I enjoy your series. Do you know if any of this footage came from Seattle, where there was a Hooverville?
