Saw both play, Kidd MANY times...

Mitchell was a spectacular street baller with crazy hops and zero hoops IQ who rarely tried on defense and had no idea how to run plays or otherwise make a team better.

Kidd has a ridiculously high hoops IQ, and was (and is) FAR better at all aspects of the game except contest-style dunking.

It's not remotely close. Kidd is better, MUCH better.

I could be wrong, but I don't think everyone in the NBA can dunk. Certainly there have been guys in the last ten years who couldn't.

I read somewhere that Kidd's best jumping days were in high school or early college. But he could really jump--off one foot or two. You don't pull down that many rebounds without great timing, hands, and, yes, jumping.

I was at this game... And about 70 more of Jason's HS games. Had a great time watching him play.

He dunked a LOT during HS. During his junior year, he liked to go with a big wind-up to a hard right-hander; broke a backboard with it once. I have a signed poster of him in mid-windup. :)

He must have banged his hands up doing that; he used this 2-hand style as a senior. I have a signed poster of one of these dunks, too :)
