"Also, I never understand why some people talk throughout gigs? It's worse than chatting in a cinema." --- that's very simple (and sad), most people are afraid to actually quiet themselves and listen intently to anything for any length of time that's more than a few seconds. people always gotta have their traps yapping all day long. it's too bad, cause they're missing out.
you so begin enjoying things beyond what you look for...kinda like the suttleness in chaos or people that are smiling inside I know it might sound weird to some
from a guitarist view, i think this music shows you that ANYthing is possible
a friend bought me the cd that's green with eyes on it
(never can remember the name) -- no matter how many times my kids loose it , or damaged in a hot car, etc. I will buy it again & again
Not my preferred rhythm section (Carlock/Lefebvre) but still tight as hell. The song is called "Why".
His note choice isn't random. Krantz uses a system of improvised phrases using all chromatic choices; get his book an Improviser's OS for a better explanation of his theory.
It has some interesting ideas, but it's not for beginners. He paints with a broad philosophical brush and there are no examples. He has a couple of lessons (MP3s)available on his website now though. Haven't bought them yet, but they'd probably be worth checking out if you wanted to cop some of his licks.
i don't know if this show is like this but it just sounds random as shit .. mainly caues there is no balance ... its just a shit ton of notes everywhere... granted this is wayne krantz.. but like it doesn't have shit on the mariac show thats here on youtube.. plus the audio sounds like shit so there's no way to tell how good the sound really is ...
if you don't like what the drummer is doing then you clearly aren't into the direction that krantz has taken since switching to simpler song forms with extended group improv, like on '2 drink minimum'.if that is not carlock than he's doing a good job of playing in that style.
I am a great admirer of Wayne K and his various projects . His musical partners are always fabulous .
I'm struck with what a foul mouthed bunch of people ( yourself excluded ) frequent this space .. WK must hate it because he is articulate and civilised like his music .
Ugh .. all that rudeness and agression .. presumably all from the USA .
wow, this foxmews guy is really dumb,i was convinced that it was keith carlock playing with krantz, and is it not tim lefebvre on bass?how could you say he's playing sharp, thats just a bunch of, 'i think i know what i'm talking about' pretentious bull.
Dude what the fuck is wrong with these cats. Who are they? Why did Krantz hire them? The drummer has no clue what the fuck he is doing and besides the fact the bass player is flat, his timing is SHIT!
Oh really asshole. I wish I could justify your pathetic existence on this world and tell you that yes you are right, yet you are not.
The players in this clip SUCK. The drummer has no musicality at all, and I was wrong, the bass player is sharp.
I am sorry you failed at your artistic endeavours. It's not my fault you suck. yet you are the one that has to awake each morning and look at yourself in the mirror everyday.
thats funny you say that cus the bass player has been playing with wayne longer than most of the current guys. And for cliff i think he pulls of the Carlock stuff the best out of all the drummers currently sitting in and playing with wayne. when you ear matures and understands whats really happenening here your free to open your mouth again :)
Music to scare the kids by. Great! I love it!!

My last comment was a response to zodiacie about "an improvisers OS" if you´re confused.

What guitar is Wayne using here?
johnielsen08 4 years ago
It's a Tyler. Not sure about the specifics, but I'd say it's a Studio Elite with an active midboost preamp. Sweet axe.

Cliff Almond is a serious cat. AND, one hell of a nice guy, who taught me a lot about drumming.
ALSO equally BAD are Keith Carlock and Ari Hoening, both decisive, bad MFers!
