Well what you have to remeber is those shots are hard on those cloths because the side doesn't take like it doeson a thick cloth because match cloths don't have as much nap.

@rorys135 No, professionals use a cloth which has small magnets woven into the cloth - north is at the top of the table and south at the bottom (i.e. baulk end). The balls also contain magnets. This magnifies the normal forces involved in spin shots in snooker so that the game plays more consistently and it is possible for them to make certain shots, like the massey Ebdon tried, which are impossible in normal circumstances.
