I'll apologise if my comment was a little rude.In all honesty,I practicised this self defence system right up to1st degree black belt and have done several uk demo's.When I applied some of choi's defences against kickboxing and muay thai,I discovered that it leaves you open,the defence drills are ok but again,it's very light sparring,so you never really know what it's like to get hit.
@dragonheart6979 If you do it properly then there are no openings. I have been doing CKD for 10 years and have learned from GMC himself. One of the main focuses is staying out of fights and only fighting when you have no other choice. Not to test out what you've learned. That is a reason for a lot of failure.
You seem like a respectable person and i admire that but please think before you comment.
@Grandmasterjord I've also trained in this system for a time, and I can honestly say that many of the self defence techniques I was shown were quite simply never going to work when applied against a more realistic attack. The problem is that many instructors hate the idea of stepping up the pressure because it's difficult and it hurts more than fully compliant drills.
In my own case, about 17 years of training in various arts.
@Grandmasterjord Former 1st Deg Black Belt trained in CKD 5 years. Friendly clubs,respectful people however disrespectful to other martial arts! CKD make very bold claims that have never been backed up. The fact is that this art is not trained properly and is simply unrealistic. No matter where you look on youtube CKD always get taken apart by memeber of other styles. We can't ALL be wrong and CKD be right! I I train M Thai and MMA for last 8 years! Much more complete for self defense.
I am from CKDMAC in Kirwan Australia. You skills are quite good, keep up the good work. I will be a black belt in the next few months, and hope to undertake some demo stuff too one day. You set a good example.
VERY GOOD!!! This is a good modification of modern TAEKWONDO FOR THIS NEW AGE!!! if you don't restructure the lesson plan of the new era of martial arts you are going to die with the old style. New age is more motion kick, punch, grappling, submission, mma and self defense. Take the example of this people. VERY GOOD GUY'S!!! KEEP WORKING HARD BUT, DON'T FORGET TO IMPROVE YOUR STYLE IN MMA, THIS IS GOING TO GIVE YOU THE REAZON AND THE TESIS OF YOUR TKD MODIFICATION. GOOD WORK!!

@Aegis82 I respect your opinion. How long did you train in CKD?
Grandmasterjord 1 year ago
@Grandmasterjord Probably a little under a year in total while I was unable to get to my usual school.

@dragonheart6979
You shouldn't judge another art by only what you see.
Until you have been in the martial art yourself you don't know what it's capable of.
