20 foot face my arse ! i'm an aussie surfer, surfed for 18 years ... If you think those waves are only 20 ft to 22 ft on the face or whatever!?? you must be off your head ...

They look to be 20 foot + Hawaiian . Just look at how long the lip takes to fall and how big the first pressure is It looks lie a depth charge going off. Not to mention the spit from the tube looking similar in proportion to a spout from a blow hole. Yup them some large waves, fucking world class huge and also long rides.

Rudeboogi, I think it may well be a case of "Couldn't launch the ski". You have to know the area a little. If waves are breaking over Crab Island, then Doolin harbour isn't a harbour anymore, because Crab Island is a major part of the shelter for anything launching from the slip there. The rest of the coast is pretty much cliff, crag and slab for miles around

those cliffs are 700ft up? mabey 100-150 ft up. I call that 20-30 ft faces breaking to clean to be 50 ft. guys tow in at jaws and they recorded a 60ft wave there.

yeah but you can compare the way the wave is breaking to other days when guys were surfing it. I'd say I've seen 30ft face waves ridden there. In this video it looks bigger cause the waves are hitting the reef differently. Also I think it was too big to tow because the guys couldn't make it out of the harbor, not because of surf at Aileens. In any event, this wave is soooooo sick.

Ya aileen's is pretty wild. props to those guys who go out there. I surf, but I'm not rich enough to travel where i can practice this shit, but i did go to the wedge a fe wmonths back. and even tho I did BB getting hit by 9ft waves there was enough to give me some brain damage :-P mad respect for big wavers...it's all or die.

I think thats just mavericks so there are often guys out with jet skis! And it was founded by a guy before 20 years. He surfed it about 15 years alone and without any tow in by jet ski

theres no way you can get the skis down the cliffs so you would have to launch them from the nearest beach or harbour but then with a swell this size launching them can be almost impossible
