Yes! I use VMWare Workstation (licenced) and have a high-speed USB2 2.5" external hard drive (500GB) which contains nothing but an XP virtual machine. I have a copy of all my games installed on there along with Source SDK.... when I'm doing phoneme extraction, I use the virtual machine, then transfer the scene files back over to the host machine for completion.
1 last question, when i place my vcf and wav files in my gmod directory, i get no voice or lip movement, and also if i get it to work, how did you make breen talk without having to click on him with the scene tool?
I've been informed that for people in Germany, this video shows "This video contains content from Sony Music Entertainment. It is no longer available in your country.".... that's stupid! It contains like 4 bars of the introduction to WOTW musical... the rest is simply dialog!
If YouTube removes audio-tracks for that, I'll put my videos up on another site with more realistic licence control!
Good test, Breens mouth movements were very clear. The only thing I think is wrong with it is the forward lean at 0:46, it just seems a bit wooden and unrealistic. How is the site coming along? All I can see is a message saying "Grey Cascade Designs - Our website is being redesigned to bring you more awesomeness!"
Yeah, because of my busy workload I haven't gotten the new Rusty Bin site finished yet... ironic that it took less time to make this video than it does to make a good website....
I might just put a few hours into the site this weekend though!
Thanks man! I might (if there's enough demand for it) do a full video tutorial on how to lip sync like I do!
I'm fed up of seeing videos where people just let the computer extract the Phonemes, and don't even bother cleaning them up! And I'm REALLY sick of Machinima where people just move the heads up and down really fast to show who's talking, without any attempt to animate their face!
ok, so if you use an xp virtual machine in windows 7 the speech SDK will work?

after having a right barrel of laughs in animating breen for a facepose project its frustrating on how similar his expressions are.
critique hat on - the last 10 seconds of animation were most appropiate for the monologue used here with the first 25 only half matched up IMO
best parts were the b_g_waveoff @ 35 seconds for gulf of space & head touch manipulation to represent "the eyes" @ 43 sec
that said i have been guilty of the "head bob" in younger film days
