  • What camshaft and compression ratio are you running? ?..cuz it sound sick! !!! :)

  • Amen.

  • beautiful just tint windows dark and black out the lights and it would look PIMP

  • Lol who put the Stingray lable on a 1979er Corvette model??? Its wrong. The name has vanished after 1977.

  • @AcientMarine actually, that name was last used in '76. They are all still "Stingrays" up to '82, they just didn't use that emblem any longer (after '76). Stingray wasn't a preformance model of the Vette - just a name tag. This Vette orginally would have said Corvette on the rear. Wouldn't be my choice to put this emblem there, but that's what makes hot rodding fun - each person does the car the way they want it. Would be pretty boring if everyone did their car to original specs.

  • What are the C3 Corvettes like for reliability seeing as they're getting on a bit. I can pick a clean one up in the UK for about ten grand but would want it as a daily driver.

  • @DisgruntledBrit Hi. Well, my car is very reliable so to say which means that there are no expensive repairs to be done - it just works. However, there are always some little issues you must expect anytime to happen. Coolant leaks, belt breaks, ignition messes up, carburetor needs to be tuned... the usual with any American car that old. This car is also prone to water leaks into cabin due to the T-tops and no-frame windows on doors. In California, why not. In UK - not the best daily driver.

  • @speedbird1229 Yeah thinking now with our shitty British weather I'd probably get one for the summer instead and keep it snug in winter! Thanks for the advice mate!

  • @speedbird1229 I'm looking for a c3 as a daily driver too, I always had old cars so I'm used to the little issues a Corvette can have. The only thing that could take me away from buying one is the fuel consumption, how much liters/100km does yours burn?

  • Eargasm!

    Thanks for the video.

  • For sale

  • sounds good

  • That title is SO TRUE!

  • You should come out with an album for me to play while I sleep.

  • damn good sound! mens dream =D

  • i Love the ignorance. the v-8 was invented by the germans and GM kept the original German design. so Umm American Muscle? says who? they also invented the Diesel engine. and also the jet engine. and the first internal combustion engine was from france. the first car was made in china By a french inventor. just like every other good thing ever invented We stole it From somebody else. :-)

  • @MrGizmo757 "i Love the ignorance. the v-8 was invented by the germans "

I love the lack of knowledge. The V8 was actually invented by the french for aircraft use.

But why you picking up on such shit.? The title of the video is about the sound, not the invention. That crossplane crank, and distinct firing order that gives the US cars that burble that you don't find in other cars.

  • @hawksleyart01 not even in american cars anymore, lol. that firing order died in 97 with the lt1. though i think some big blocks may have kept it a few more years. not quite sure about that. but those are just crate engines, so my point stands.

  • Just letting you know.. That Corvette didn't come out as a Stingray.. The Stingray badges were only on the C3 Corvette from 1969 to 1976... Just saying. Nice 'Vette!

  • @Sarcasticscum Thanks for the compliments. I know, the badge was on the car when it came from USA and I just thought I rather leave it there for now. Doesn't look too bad...

  • @speedbird1229

Yeah, and like I said, beautiful car!! I have a '72 LT-1 Convertible (was my grandpa's) and I recently bought a 1982 Corvette with the foreign country export package (gauges and all legible writing are in Italian).. Only 36,000 km on the clock!

  • @Sarcasticscum Wow, that's nice! The LT-1 is one rare thing. I would love to have that one day. It's pretty expensive to import such a car to Europe. I never knew you could buy the Vette with foreign language clocks. Really interesting!

  • @speedbird1229

I also was unaware that such a package was offered.. Honestly, the low mileage and cool options were the only reasons why I bought it! It had been in Italy since new (they were imported in late 1983), and the original owners daughter moved to Dallas, TX with it, then sold it after marrying somebody associated with the recently revamped DeLoreanMotorCompany..

  • @Sarcasticscum Wow... An American car to Europe from USA and back again. Don't see that happen every day! Where are you located in the States?

  • @speedbird1229

I live in western North Carolina, up on the Blue Ridge Parkway, part of the Appalachian mountain range.

  • By the way speedbird1229, my previous comments were not for you. They were for some of the ignorant fucks that posted here. Your car sounds great. Enjoy it.

  • @redv311 Don't worry! Thanks for the nice words :)

  • sound in driver 1 is out of it

  • love the sound. I've spent most of my adult life restoring corvettes. As with all generations, the C3 is always evolving. The Stingray was used from 68 to 76, and it was only on the fender above the side vent, not the rear bumper. 1977 was the last year for the flat back window, and GM did not make 4 seat corvette. The spoilers introduced on the 78 pace car were an option in 79, and were molded in when the bumpers were updated in 1980. Get your facts straight before you make an ass of yourself!

  • doesnt get much purdier then that

  • Just to let you know, this one is my all-time favourite V8-sound clip on Youtube =)

Been watching this over and over again since I discovered it by accident and whenever it comes to an "engine sound" discussion I know what link I have to share ;)

  • @TheBurnsson Thank you! This was really nice of you to say all this and you certainly made my day. I promise I won't change that soundtrack on this car in the near future :)

  • Sooo amazing, love it :D

  • sweeeeet machine!! one question though, do u have straight pipes on the exhaust??? sounds wonderful!!!

  • @xxx23185 Thanks!!! These are almost straight pipes. They are actually like Cherrybomb glasspacks but they don't have almost any glass inside anymore and actually I really like it this way and dont' want to replace them with anything else.

  • @speedbird1229 You used actually redundantly. Wannabe American~!

  • My dad owns a '77 (the last year of the flat back window).. He just had it restored (new crate motor, wheels interior, full exhaust, paint).. With no mufflers it is very loud!.. It'd better be though with a 430 horse motor and heddman headers and 3" pipes to the back.. My 94 vette will be going the restore rout soon too!

  • I want to hear more!!!!

  • Best Car Ever ;D

    Hat Der N v8 Serie ? :)

  • Wow, that's a bit of classical music to my ears indeed, although it turns me on rather than relax me... and it brought to my mind this bit of Rush's Red Barchetta, a fantastic song to listen to while driving.

"Wind in my hair, shifting and drifting, mechanical music, adrenaline surge... well-weathered leather, hot metal and oil, the scented country air, sunlight on chrome, the blur of the landscape, every nerve aware..."

I'm crazy about those incredible American V8 powered cars.

  • Whatta ya mean FOR MEN?? I love a healthy sound, especially on a Vette. My C4 could use something, but it's all original and I've been listening around for the right sound. What about Borlas? Could a Vette do Cherry Bomb? Help me my GM brothers (and sisters)

  • @Maniken360 hell yea some cherry bombs mines got some n its beautiful

  • it came in stingray? my father has one but i think its an L-82...

  • Looks like the valve seals are a bit gone. My F150 puffed blue on startup just like that car and it turned out all 12 valve stem seals were beyond fucked.

  • @TestECull Yes it could be the case. Although I know several C3 owners who get the blue smoke on startup and they say it could be simply that all cylinders are not firing up instantly and are therefore puffing out the smoke.

  • @speedbird1229

Yes it is the valve seals. The umbrella seal which came out in the '80s are metal "70s had rubber seals which dry up and rot after 30 years.

  • @speedbird1229 rich unburnt fuel in cylinders is not blue out the tail pipe

  • @TestECull valve by pass ?

  • @TheBlackAndGold11 No, the seals. Valve seals keep oil from going around the stem and into the cylinders and when those seals are worn the affected engine will puff blue smoke on startup. Severely worn seals will also cause the engine to puff blue on decel.

  • Scientist say that if you put classic music playing when your baby is sleeping he will became a inteligent person. I my opinion you should put some good old loud V8 engine sounds playing when your baby is sleeping and he will became a man.

  • ive got a 1980 Stingray with a 400 under the hood, red on black. Mine has the Stingray logos on the side.

  • sorry to burst your bubble but thats not a stingray, stingrays stoped in 1976, however they did keep the same bodystyle, a major diffrence that you can see is that the window in this vette is slanted back, stingrays had a flat back window. Also where you have this "Stingray" logo is where the "Corvette" logo should be on the bumper. after the stingray model the rear bumper had a wing, your got a diffrent bumper if im not mistaken. still a very relaxing sound...

  • @Anarchyunderworld There is no such thing as a Stingray. In 1976 they stopped putting the Stingray emblem on. I'm well aware of these facts as an owner of this car :) I just got it with that emblem in the rear and there's no point replacing it with Corvette at the moment. The rear bumper with wing began from 1980 with the another facelift.

  • @speedbird1229

Your wrong on your years though 78 was the first to introduce the wing , as I own a 1978 25th aniver . And it is factory equiped with wing , and ground effects in front .

  • @speedbird1229

Your wrong on your years though 78 was the first to introduce the wing , as I own a 1978 25th anniversary . And it is factory equipped with wing , and ground effects in front .

  • @Anarchyunderworld

um sorry to burst your bubble but are u fucking stupid??

    they made em past 76

  • Comment removed

  • @surfing1234 Go do more research, 1977 they made a slanted window and added two more seats, so go drive your "High powered mustang" or your gas friendly hybrid before you call me out on a car that you probably don't even have.

  • @Anarchyunderworld

lol um srry bud you prlly have the hybrid outta the two of us and why don you go look up on "youtube", or maybe even a website that says they still made em?

;) iv got a ls1 gto let me guess u got a toyota

  • @Anarchyunderworld

"77 has the flat window. "78 was the first year of the "hatchback" window. They didnt add two back seats. They did change the 3 compartments to two compartments. The tail in the rear was a stick on tail which was optional purchase and The Pace Car had the option.

  • @Anarchyunderworld

ya btw they might have stopped it in 96 but if u cant find a 77 78 79 vette u need to get off youtube and look up more shit

  • @surfing1234 I have a corvette stingray (1976) THE LAST YEAR OF THE STINGRAY

KEYWORD FOR YOU DUMBASS IS STINGRAY THERE IS NO 77 78 OR 79 STINGRAY. They were still considerd a C3 because of the front body the back is different, you need to look up the corvette stingray or go ahead and stick to your GTO

and if you do look it up dont use wikipedia anyone can change the description.

  • @Anarchyunderworld

haha dude are u like stupid??

they might have changed the name but the car remaind the same therefore its still a stingray. and dnt get all butthurt man im justin sayn you dont know shit, about your own car haha lol

  • @surfing1234 All of your youtube comments are the most ASININE, IGNORANT, and 100% INCORRECT posts I have ever read. Do you even know ANYTHING about domestic cars, kid?. Just a 9 year old little LOUD MOUTH know-it-all who thinks he has a clue. Go back to playing with your little Match-Box cars you little TWIT. Little ignorant idiot fool.

  • @Anarchyunderworld the rear spoiler 1st came along on the 1978 pace car, was available in 79 as an option. the flat back window style ran thru the 77 model year. the 25th anniversary (of which i own :) ) was the 1st year model with the fast back window. i too like the car.

  • Love this sound!

  • how high can you rev it?

  • Your right I love the sound of a v8 !

  • mine is a 77

  • nice car

  • Beauty!

  • Thanks!

  • Lahe et eestis ikka entusiaste jätkub! :)

  • Eks meid natuke ikka on :) Tänud.

  • @cavekas Ega eestlased kõik ju entusiastid.

  • One of my dream cars, wait, let me correct that, one of the cars I will own within the next 12years

  • It's certainly a nice and rewarding car to own. It's even very enjoyable to just have it in your garage and to look at it...

  • Sounds so much better then an exotic.

  • My dad had a 79 L-82 that needed some front end body work, we was gonna fix it and it WAS supposed to be mine when I graduated, but he sold it last summer so now Im rollin in an 81 Mustang Cobra with a 302, good enough. lol

  • very nice car sounds great

im 14 hoping to get a corvette later but i do not have enough money but

    good luck!

  • you need your valve stem seals replaced blue smoke at start up

  • the idle jumping would be the vaccum leaks

  • I'm planning to do some engine rebuilding over this winter and this might also include new heads. At the moment I'll keep it the way it is and eventually I'll fix the problem with all new hardware :)

  • you should check the heads for warpage and have them milled if there wihin spec that will increase compression a little

  • fuck it sounds so beautiful ... i want one tooo *o*

im not able to describe this with words ... goose bumps ftw :D

  • Indeed one of the most relaxing sound ever! :D

    Ah i want one now!

  • None of them came like this from factory. Mine came with the Stingray emblem from USA when it was imported some years ago. I haven't replaced it with Corvette, it doesn't look too bad either. L82 is the slightly more powerful engine in HP and a bit less torque. It's better for continuous acceleration, the L-48 is a bit better for street performance and initial acceleration. Actually they don't have very much difference, numbers are quite similar. About 15-20 hp difference...

  • Thanks! And it's a great idea to put it into phone :)

  • I have a 79 vette,Iv never seen one that says stingray on the back. I didnt know they made 79 stingrays? mines a L82 whats the difference?

  • Sounds Great Beautiful corvette you have there you should turn that audio into a phone ringer

  • i like the paint job , goodluck bro

  • The C3 exhaust note is distinctive due to the fact that the mufflers are near the very end of the exhaust system. There are only 8 or 10 inches of pipe between the muffler and the tip at the read of the car.

  • I'm not a corvette guy but it actually sounds good.
