Zynan, it won't let you trade an item you need. If you have your bracelet, or even your sword in your B button, he will ask for something else. I think it has to be the shovel. I tried giving him the powder and bombs as well, he won't take them.

If you have cheats, you can fly as a zora.

You just need the moon jump, put on your mask, go to a small pond close to the great bay, swim in it, then activate the cheat. It's hilarious.

there's a bird mask in Majora's Mask, but it just allows you to play a flute that makes everything follow you. only good for getting a heart piece.

there's a song that teleports you to any of the owl statues though.

Not sure if you could do this in this game, but in Zelda Oracle of ages/seasons, you could kill the pols voice simply by playing your harp (in those games).

you could have traded your shield for the boomerang because your shield is much cheaper to get back if you need it again.

You should sprinkle magic dust on the Buzz Blobs and then talk to them. I think I remember the one in the Mysterious Forest saying something weird. Just be careful not to kill it or hit it with your sword so you can talk to it.
