Tommy did not tell Martin about his charity work coz he did not want Martin to clown him. He kinda let it slip out that he did not tell the people at his 9-5 job either, possibly coz of that same fear of being rediculed. He seems sincere here. I suspect that whatever Tommy does from 9-5 pm is something that he feels embarassed about as well. Something that will cause Martin to humiliate him if Tommy should ever speak about it. That could explain his reluctance to talk about his job
