  • A 4-banger pulling arround almost two tons... all these anemic new "green" engines will blow up quickly. Thanks Obama and his voters... yeah, I'm being sarcastic... what a bunch of good-for-nothings.

  • @USA4July1776 What would you say to a turbo-diesel four cylinder under the hood of the Regal?

  • @mpgomatic

A diesel has inherently more punch for the buck and its engines last longuer... diesel is what America needs more of, not mercury battery-powered hybrids.

  • @USA4July1776 A GM rep was recently quoted at an industry conference saying that a diesel-powered passenger car isn't far off. This is a big change for GM. Lets hope that the Regal is that car ...

Underneath the grille and badges, the Regal is the Opel Insignia and is available with a turbodiesel under the hood in Europe (it's also sold as the Vauxhall Insignia in the UK).

I spent a week with the gasoline-powered Regal last month. It's an excellent car. It would be truly superb with a diesel.

  • I love how he essentially shrugged off the diesel comment and focused on hybrids. Whats the point of a hybrid when diesel is more efficient??
