The Bible was not "written over by greeks", but the New Testament was written in Greek. Judaea and Samaria were Roman provinces, but the language for literature was Greek in the Eastern part and Latin in the Westen part. Jesus and most of the Jews spoke Aramaic, an Oriental language that only a few people speak today. The people in Egypt and the rest of North Africa became Christians about 300 A.D. and remained so until the Islamic occupation at the end of the 7th Century.

You are wrong as always. The authors of the New Testament were Jews, writing in Greek. The Hebraic Old Testament had been translated into Greek about 300 B.C. in Alexandria, Egypt by learned Jews living there. This is the Greek "Septuaginta" version. The New Testament authors were citing from this version when quoting from the Old Testament.
The "American bible" is of course a translation. What's the problem? It is no better than the Latin, German or French translations.
