Ha! Paz left A Perfect Circle for this junk. Joke's on you Paz! I was a Smashing Pumpkins fan in the 90s, but this is rubbish. Sorry Billy, but that was a lousy guitar solo and your band mates looked bored. Just my opinion. I don't want to offend any die hard Zwan fans.
@loadstar80 Pumpkins kick a perfect circle's ass to the moon and another 4 dimensions beyond. As for Paz, she was damn lucky to play alongside Jimmy and Billy. For their abilities the pumpkins would be more deserving of someone like Geddy Lee as their bassist.
This is real gospel, not that weak praise music that makes it sound like their about to ask Jesus out on a date. Billy Corgan, and Jimmy Chamberlin are the Machines Of God.
Totally this incredible the energy, the passion, the true heart put in the music and vocals. It's like when Elvis Presley did gospel. It's funny rockers do gospel better than gospel singers, and gospel bands. I guess they have more heart and soul than these TV Christians, not real Christians they have heart and soul, but the fakers they are trashing the name of Jesus. I'm a Christian and I can say Zwan and Smashing Pumpkins Smashing Pumpkins are than all of what I want people listening to.
@nicholsjoshua15 Well, I have to disagree with such a blanket statement suggesting that rockers do gospel better than gospel singers. Listen to the album Como Now: The Voices of Panola Co., Mississippi. Search and watch "A Closer Look at the Como Mamas" here on Youtube.
I'm not a Christian but I have great respect for the musicality of traditional southern gospel. And the Blues? Man, ain't nothing like the Blues.
Such a great band, Corgan and Sweeney are amazing. Shame some of the other members brought it to a premature end, I'm looking at you Paz. Hope Corgan releases all the other stuff they recorded some time.
If Billy Corgan ever does release the unrecorded Zwan material he will rerecorded it with The Smashing Pumpkins Billy Corgan, Jeff Schroeder, Mike Byrne, Nicole Fiorentino. It would still be great though, I wonder if some of the Teargarden By Kaleidescope stuff is from Zwan Just A Stitch In Time, Spangled, and Widow Wake My Mind are they have to be.
I love much of The Smashing Pumpkins, and I feel like the Mary Star of the Sea album was just perfect pop. It's an entirely different sound, and it took me a few listens to really enjoy, but it's now one of my favorite records. Get back together Zwan!
Amazing song, amazing video, amazing solo, amazing band on stage, ist fucking killer... The band sounds perfectly, and synchronized in every details... just perfect. Love them.
@turbotimthree Peart, to answer your question lol. and it's pronounced "peert", at least that's how my friend Mike Peart pronounced his last name, so I'm assuming it'd be the same for neal.
@TheUltraDude now why would u say that? Paz's bass playing completed their sound i thought. Pajo was and is an amazing guitarist, way better on guitar than bass, the only bad thing about the Glass House performance was Pajo wasnt on guitar cuz Paz hadn't joined yet. i do think her fucking Pajo destroyed the band tho, so we do agree on something.
yeah, they hardly showed her at all..what a rip!!!face it,those guys aren't that easy on the eyes,Paz on the other hand is like seeing an angel born to man...she really has to be the most awe inspiring sight to behold..well,it's a tie between her and her sis,Ana..both are God's own prototypes sent to help beautify this increasingly ugly existance!!!
Jimmy is an amazing drummer. I think him and Lars Ulrich (of Metallica) are the best drummers alive!! If I were going to start a rock band I would pick Jimmy over Lars.
That's true! I'd loved Dave as a part of Nirvana, but he doesn't drum a lot since he started the Foo Fighters. That's why I didn't mention him as my #3. But no doubt he is a great drummer and a great musician.
where's the love for Danny Carey..oh,i guess he does go without saying!seriously,he is in a category all by himself,so even making comparisons to other drummers is not fair to the others.he casts a larger shadow with his skills than he does with his stature.hell,Shannon Leto and Phil Collins need a mention too...Shannon still has potential for growth as he is still very young and still evolving his stylings.ok,enough about percussion,PAZ!PAZ!PAZ!PAZ!PAZ!PAZ!PAZ!PAZ!PAZ!PAZ!PAZ!PAZ!PAZ!PAZ!PAZ!:)
the first part is pretty dreamy, so maybe lydian. though, I think he's just playing chords. The second part starts out in plain old minor pentatonic's methinks. Could be wrong though.
this is for themilstead... thanks for the spiritual dousing this and mary star vids provide... i feel a sense of renewal whenever i watch this stuff... also david pajo/papa m just seems to conjure a sweetness for any element he's in... way cool anyway and thanks again for the sharing...
this, tha pumpkins, should've just been called BILLY & JIMMY! love for d'arcy & james, but...they can just replace them plugs and sound like billy & jimmy, but better, sorry all, but they're tha best musicians i've ever heard.
His friend that works at Fender had to make that for him. Jaguar with a maple neck and pearl inlays. I guess I could order that from the Fender custom shop. But it would cost loads.
the Rolling Stone review for Mary Star of the Sea called the album Corgan's "most religious", referring to some of the lyrics n the featured rendition of a hymn, I guess only Billy could've laughed at it more than me... he can sing about faith n God, but Billy is his own priest n devotee, n music is his cult.
I didn't notice anybody comment that this isn't the usual Jesus, I/ Mary... composition, while it appears to be a much more interesting track to do live, than just the extended version of Mary... they used to perform (like @ Rock am Ring); this holds all the zeal, the energy n the verve of what Zwan's like.
lmao, seriously!! who checks out toes anywayz?! whatta freak. feet are the part of your body that never gets fully cleansed in the shower cuz as soon as you step out BAM theyre dirty again.
Wow, i love that guitar!, how much does it go for? Prob an arm and a leg and kidney. Do you know the year as well? The flying V he plays on the other vid is sweet too.
Dude Billy is awsome!! I saw these guys live when they toured. it was one of the best shows I've been to. Oh and I liked that kid in the begining of the video totally rocken out! That's so cool! I love seeing people enjoy music like that. Being a musician myself, I enjoy seeing the smile on peoples faces when they hear a song that really moves them.
@ all the people discussing with him: you're too, discussing about Nirvana or Metallica being 'emo'? WTF! if someone says that you should'nt try to tell him 'better' cause people like him will never change their minds
funny to see how all you react like little childeren that just wanna be right, well he won't admit you're right so stop thsi bullshit!
Thanks for posting it here. This is exactly what I've been trying to spread around on other videos where this argument comes up. May I also point out that a lot of the original emo bands from the late 80s/early 90s are disgusted with their music being referred to as the original emo. They always just saw it as hardcore punk and frown upon critics throwing them in the category as the supposed "fathers of emo".
yes there is god damnit. Emo might be short for emotional, but that doesnt mean the white stripes, Nirvana and britney spears are emo. they're just emotional. not emo. emo is a music genre, emotional is a way of saying things. emo is just mostly a lot of emotion (i.e. wah wah whine) which makes it its own genre. I win.
sweet song. Love it and good video production on this. I'm not a fan of the members of Zwan (except Corgan), but I did really like their music. Not like most of that depressed, fatalistic, pre emo junk of SP.
haha, i hate it how people say that everything that is emotional/depresing is emo, its rediculous, emo isnt just depresion, its about self centered scuicide related music and people crying while singing, i hate emo, if you think the pumpkins were emo i feel very deeply sorry for you
Everything you described is part of Pumpkins and a lot of Grunge music of the 90's. Zwan was different from that. Corgan has actually been singing about hope. You see it in his newest CD.
well the smashing pumpkins were not grunge so logical reasoning tells me youre saying they arent emo. contradiction in youre argument perhaps? or probably you just dont know what the fuck youre talking about
If you actually read what I say I don't call SP specifically Grunge, but equate their both fatalistic views in the 90's music scene. You know the scene when you were about 9 years old and playing with Power Ranger toys.
there was as much or more jubilantly happy, joyous, euphoric SP music. Oftentimes both in the same song. I get really tired of your characterization of the pumpkins music, it's dead wrong and it shows a complete lack of knowledge of most of their music catalog.
Hmm. I think I will let Corgan himself answer for me.
NYROCK: Your music has gone from rage to mellow. It's less gloom and more bloom. Is it a sign of the times? How reflective is it of you?
Billy: I think it's more reflective in that it's probably closer to who I am as a person. Zwan is probably closer to me. Pumpkins was more something we did, that the band made. Zwan's probably more like how I feel, and I probably didn't feel this way then.
Yeah, I can hear the other guitars too. Billy plays something called lead guitar. Of course it's going to stand out more. Their album is what had the other two guitars blown out of the mix. Zwan was better live, anyway.

sweet song. Love it and good video production on this. I'm not a fan of the members of Zwan (except Corgan), but I did really like their music. Not like most of that depressed, fatalistic, pre emo junk of SP.

pre-emo? what are you smoking?
dougydarkangel 5 years ago
Grunge was the emo of the 90's.
vangelicmonk 5 years ago
haha, i hate it how people say that everything that is emotional/depresing is emo, its rediculous, emo isnt just depresion, its about self centered scuicide related music and people crying while singing, i hate emo, if you think the pumpkins were emo i feel very deeply sorry for you
dougydarkangel 5 years ago
Everything you described is part of Pumpkins and a lot of Grunge music of the 90's. Zwan was different from that. Corgan has actually been singing about hope. You see it in his newest CD.
vangelicmonk 5 years ago
well the smashing pumpkins were not grunge so logical reasoning tells me youre saying they arent emo. contradiction in youre argument perhaps? or probably you just dont know what the fuck youre talking about
hnibos 5 years ago

Corgan didn't say the Interviewer was wrong and agreed with him essentially.
It's a pretty interesting interview on nyrock dot com or do a google search. If you can't find it I'll email you the link.

god i hate this stupid band so much. jimmy is the only one who doesn't completely suck and as awesome as he is, he nearly sucks by association.

Corgan totally hogs the guitar mix.. what's the point of having 2 other guitars when you can't hear them?
drtymac 5 years ago
Really? I can hear them perfectly. His is a bit louder though, but only because he is lead guitar.
themilstead 5 years ago
Yeah, I can hear the other guitars too. Billy plays something called lead guitar. Of course it's going to stand out more. Their album is what had the other two guitars blown out of the mix. Zwan was better live, anyway.
