  • @EarthshipFreedom - Weird is right! I could, in no way, imagine that the people who work with a hammer and level, almost every day of the lives, would be able to come up with a design of a Hammer, Tire, and Level. Surly, only an artistic master with your insightful talents could be the ONLY visionary in the universe to fathom this complex and mysterious concept. Cheers to you sir, for pointing out this scandalous theft that has surly cost you millions ;)

  • As soon as I graduate from school in Dec, I'm going to help build earth ships!! This puts tears of joy in my eyes and hope in my heart!! ^_^

  • *by not NY. lol Dang u spellcheck!:p

  • What a great bunch of young folks who really care about the planet and want to create a low impact, conscious, enviromentally friendly, and self- sustaining future for humanity NY building earthship homes.:)

  • I like that just go for it!!

  • been sending application form, tried to get in touch with the earthship biotecture but still here with no answers......i'm from Italy and really wanna get involved....can i get some straightforward information on the school in terms of how long to do the whole thing(internship and academy),job opportunities....and what does INDIPENDENT STUDY really means....what is required to attend it?I'm available to work round the world to ''spread the VERB'' let's say....

  • Hello!I'am from Hungry. Can i join in te academy as a hungarian? Also i'm glad too see you still building earthships.

  • @Raynor9899 *the

  • FUCK earthship FRAUDS

  • Which building that, at 1:37? It's gooorgeous!!!

  • BRAVO!!

  • Can my 2 yr old come?

  • Man,that tire drawing with the level and hammer looks alot like the drawing i sent in for the earthship t-shirt design contest a couple years back. Weird. I never heard anything from them about those drawings I sent.

  • @EarthshipFreedom can you post the original somewhere so we can see?

  • @NewJura If I find the copy i will send it to you. My design was soo similar,it had the tire and the level and hammer were crossed. Honestly,i like their re-creation better than mine.

  • @EarthshipFreedom

I don't believe Michael Reynolds is the epitome of morality. He is a foul mouthed arrogant man.

I don't doubt for one second that he took your drawing without even a "thank you".

For a man that says he wants to "help change the world" he sure charges a hell of a lot of money just so I could buy his books.

His system is also very labor intensive.

I am actually going to build a rammed earth house and incorporate all of the sustainable living concepts in it. Much easier.

  • @angryamerican Dang dude, you really are an angry american.

  • @EarthshipFreedom

LOL! I call them like I see them. I even sent an email inquiring about renting the Earth Ship and no one even got back to me. I don't think they are very organized. And I am not impressed with Michael Reynolds.

Reynolds wants $8,000 just to get the Construction Plans, so I could build my own 3 bedroom earthship! That's outrageous in my opinion.

He also loves to take advantage of FREE LABOR while he makes a profit.

  • @angryamerican Actually, isn't that "free labor" people who pay him to learn how to do this while they build one of these houses?

  • @DontFriendInviteMe They do this sort of free labor when you get your masters or phd. You either are a TA, Lab Assistant or a Resident. I think the Earthship Academy is more affordable

  • @angryamerican can you give stuff about how to build a rammed earth house and substainable systems please? thanks :)

  • @angryamerican Wow! Ditto! I've been watching these videos for about a year. I've decided that there are aspects of these earth ships that I like, but I really don't want a wall built of cans or bottles. I'm okay with the tires, but I've been looking more heavily into rammed earth too. Have you considered a russian stove if you live in a colder climate? There are a lot of videos here about how to build them.

  • @DontFriendInviteMe You don't HAVE TO HAVE a wall of cans or bottles. But its basically a free resource that beverage companies have bestowed onto the consumers to pay taxes to throw it in a landfill and of course to pay to buy the beverage. I'm sure if you can use cob or straw bale instead but why not use something that is FREE!

  • @jetle25 most cans are recycled not put in landfills.

  • @circusboy90210 I would say most cans in the world are not recycled but end up in landfills. As for earthships. They recycle them instead of of them ending up in a landfill.

  • @jetle25 don't know where you get that from most cities have very aggressive recycling programs, maybe undeveloped nations don't but they don't really count. like your project.

  • @circusboy90210 I would disagree about aggressive recycling programs in US. NYC didn't start recycling til 1989. Yes they do cans but its very limited in specific plastics and other waste that is definitely recyclable or compostable. I would San Fran has an aggressive program. They collect pretty much all plastic plus compostable waste. Many rural towns don't even have recycling pick up because houses are miles apart.

  • @jetle25 just because it's not operated as a route does not make it a deal breaker I know many people in rural areas that use recycling as a business. distance is not a consideration in all cases. poor people recycle for profit. I personally don't like city operated or sponsored business. peopel should not be forced to subsidize what is profitable. no matter when nyc started they are doing it now.

  • @circusboy90210 Yes I agree recycling on any format is good. I see people collecting cans to make extra money. And yes I don't think we should pay a bottle deposit when we buy anything bottled in plastic. But I think saying most cans are recycled is not exactly true. Why don't you like city operated recycling or sponsored? Is it because we're paying taxes that the soda companies should pay to pick up the trash they created?

  • @jetle25 consumer demand is what creates the can(container product etc) the manufacturer is just fulfilling a need that is already there, they created no trash the consumer did after they used it. paying someone to collect this removes the profit motive from the consumer who should be doing this anyway's. we need to get away from demonizing people who make things and create jobs hence spreading wealth to all the people. once on the curb anybody should be able to collect it not just payedthieves

  • @circusboy90210 One mans trash is another mans treasure ex. M.reynolds or recycling into new cans. I agree paying someone to pick up garbage or recycling takes away the profit motive from the can consumers. Not everyone is responsible or cares to dispose of their trash in a responsible manner. If a lot of people don't recycle at the recycling centers at supermarkets where would this trash go. There will be a need to have trash removed from private, city/state property to make it fit for living.

  • @jetle25 Why aren't people going to recycling centers? Our society feels we can pay for anything. They will pay for a service to have trash picked up either public or private company. A service for a need. Question why don't we as communities come together and be responsible for the trash we create, not pay to pick up our tras. Commit time and responsibly to dispose properly. What other incentives are for people that live in a society where we can pay for anything; services or goods.

  • @jetle25 We are so separated from nature that if we bag something up and it disappears from our property we get on with our day and they don't think about the impact.I don't want to demonizing producers. I apologize if that is what I'm implying. But i do feel producers should be just as responsible an ethical as the consumer. How does coca cola get the water for their beverages? Are they tapping a commonwealth aquifer from a town or country to sell to the citizens or residents.

  • @jetle25 Or are they capturing rain water and filtering it from a reservoir. Are they polluting the environment where the clean water comes from to just make a money profit and destroying the finite natural resources/product. Or are they conscious and trying to make their system a closed system.

  • @jetle25 the people I see collecting cans are not doing this for extra money it is a huge industry. I could reproduce the city sponsored collection routes(again not fair because if I go around taking what the citizen thinks is trash and on the curb it's called theft . I should not have to subsidize another persons pure profit. if you can't afford to do it unsibisidized with 40 trucks then let the small players conglomerate) and make thousands a day.

  • @circusboy90210 You've really lost me. I'm not exactly sure what you are advocating or are against. Are you against public funding for public funded city trash collection because they profit from recycling? If so, why haven't more communities joined forces to start an alternate trash collection service that goes towards the local economy? Its completely feasible. There is a company in Northampton, MA that picks up compostables as a service. And how is taking garbage theft? that just legalities?

  • @jetle25 I'm against the city's paying people to take our recyclables. let the junk men get that stuff instead of lining one persons or company's pockets doubly and use that tax money for something else; or better yet if one group alone is to benefit from this have the city itself take the stuff and reduce everybody's taxes while providing more civil servant jobs which would be the same as having lot's of people benefit by what belongs to everybody once it hits the curb.

  • @circusboy90210 I agree with you on those points. I wish more people could see things differently. Like harvest the rain water, grey water systems in homes and composting kitchen scraps in order to grow some veggies at home. I guess its up to educating the public of possibilities, cities relaxing some laws, taking away the stigma from trash collection, and acceptance of non traditional systems in our living environment.

  • @jetle25 another problem I notice while out at the land fill to get rid of some wood from a bathroom remodel. there was a sign that said no scavenging. it seems to me that they should encourage scavenging and maybe even just charge $2 for scavengers to save room in the land fill or charge by the lbs or something. this would be an entire other industry to help the poorest of the poor. it would also keep them out of our city centers where we need to encourage clean rich people to spend money.

  • @jetle25 heard trashman in NYC earns over $85k with tremendous benefits. I went out on a trash truck as a helper for one day did 800 stops. man even $85k is way underpaid for that amount of work each stop payed the company $5 do the math that's almost 1.5 million dollars profit per truck. even if fuel was $6 gallon for diesel the cost of fuel is very small compared to profit. it only cost $90 to dump one of those trucks at the landfill. las vegas trash men $35/hour.

  • would love to build one, Its just money and land, You need planing permission on the UK

  • @izzysmart sell the highest goverment on the idea to remove restrictions or make standards that accept this so they can adhere to something that is safe for the general public to occupy.

  • I'm in. How much does it cost?
