You need an octaver, and to a lesser extent a fretless, to do an '80's Pino.

An ocatver will really show dead spots that appear on some basses around the 4th to 9th fret on the G string as it needs a good fundamental to work well.

I need to do a vid on dead spots as there are none and it's a misunderstood term.
